No one involved with bitcoin at the beginning had the foresight to register Bitcoin.com?
Instead we let Roger Ver have control over bitcoin.com with his shady intentions. I still think he is a good crypto supporter and he wants to see everything succeed but what do you guys think of him owning bitcoin.com?

Domain name squatting and phishing has been around for a long time, and will continue to be around. These techniques are only effective against people who are not used to doing self-verification. Which is ironic, because Bitcoin is all about self-verification. The spread and use of Bitcoin has always been about educating people, allowing them to grow and make their own choices. As people get smarter, the political smoke fades away and the best choices will rise to the top. I'm not that worried, because BTC is so far ahead in terms of technical soundness it's not even close. Until that changes, our work is simply to educate people about phishing scams like BCH.

Bitcoin.com was registered before Bitcoin was released. Satoshi even explained that he preferred .org instead of trying to launch the site through .com.
Bitcoin.com was registered in January 2008. The whitepaper was only released in November. In 2014 Roger purchased the domain. For some time the exchange OKCoin used the domain, but the contract was broken after a series of confusions. Bitcoin.com is a site with a commercial purpose. It has the idea of being profitable. Bitcoin.org aims to help educate the world about Bitcoin.

It does trick people into thinking what his site is about is infact the original bitcoin if they werent around for the fork of it into bitcoin cash. He does have a regular video series where he asks several people around the crypto community to give their insights on what is going on around the space and it is just another point of view. So it does have some good with the bad he is doing with the name shaming of bitcoin,

I think it will create some confusion over new Bitcoin user. Well since Bitcoin is Open source its more suited to be .org just like this forum.

Someone involved with bitcoin at the beginning had the foresight, belief, financial success and appreciation for cryptocurrency and he bought bitcoin.com. His name was Roger Ver. Whether you like it or not, there's a reason why he is the guy who owns the domain.

not exactly true. he is a businessman who only cares about making the most amount of money. that may sometimes translate into supporting bitcoin and sometimes it can mean destroying it if it means millions in his pocket. and that is exactly what he has been doing so far. the fact that he bought bitcoin.com shows that he had plans to milk this, and he has been doing that with things they advertise, services they offer, and more importantly the way they sell BCH to newbies which is money in his pocket.

Roger Ver is nothing but a shill who manipulates other into using bitcoin cash rather than using bitcoin. His purpose of buying bitcoin.com domain must be for shilling purposes only. We have seen how he encouraged people to fork bitcoin cash from the bitcoin and how he manipulated it's price to go beyond $2000. Satoshi's vision was to use bitcoin.org domain to educate people to make proper use of the technology while Roger Ver is completely opposite of Satoshi. We can see huge differences between them and we must know whether to use bitcoin.com or bitcoin.org

Many of my crypto friends normally will read information from there and will always believe more of what is written there. Sometime again when he was heavily promoting BCH, some became skeptical about his personality. I think he sometimes try to backlash bitcoin and make people think bitcoincash is the real bitcoin which is heavily misleading and has led some to debt.

He's a supporter of crypto but not the original bitcoin and him having the control over the domain is a bad idea. It's just a domain though and doesn't really make a big difference what goes inside of it since the domain name is self-explanatory. There is not much that can be done anyway.

I think it is slightly sketchy considering how hard Roger Ver has been pushing Bitcoin Cash on the bitcoin.com website.

He has his own business and if he's a good crypto supporter he will not mislead people. It's known that he's been telling people that bitcoin cash is the real bitcoin while bitcoin is bitcoin core.
He doesn't want to see everything succeed because he wants to take it all. If he does, why mislead people instead of educating, helping and promoting crypto. Yes, he's a good supporter but only for his bitcoin cash.

Ver is really crypto supporter But because it only brings profits, not faith in the message, and he does not care educating the world About BTC We all want to make money but we are looking for spreading the idea service to all people If the destruction of BTC will bring him abundant money He will do it.

To me it really doesn't matter. Roger Ver decided to show how much of a monster he is with his Bitcoin cash crusade but eventually as time goes on they will be forgotten and his shitcoin will be no more Can you imagine the Bitcoin.com idiots even named BTCitcoin "Bitcoin Core"

In a new interview with the team at SFOX's cryptocurrency trading platform, Bitcoin investor, entrepreneur and CEO of Bitcoin.com, Roger Ver, says he's a fan of any cryptocurrency that performs.Ver, who turned his attention and support toward Bitcoin Cash after Bitcoin transaction fees became exorbitant at the end of 2017, "At the end of the day, it does not matter which cryptocurrency winds up being the dominant one, so long as it's a cryptocurrency that actually puts people in charge of their own money and their own destiny. If it's some cryptocurrency where transactions are monitored and controlled and spied upon by the NSA and whoever else, that's a horrible thing for the world.

Worrying about such things is a quick route to becoming a frothing maniac. You could say the same about every single Bitcoin-related handle. Bitcoin itself is bigger than these things and will still be chugging long after Mr. Ver has uploaded his mind into a probe and departed the solar system. It's on whoever gets into BTC to know what the score is with everything they encounter.

i don't think it had anything to do with having foresight, it was mostly about .org making more sense for bitcoin as an open source project and the fact that it is common to use that instead of .com Instead we let Roger Ver have control over bitcoin.com with his shady intentions.
didn't he buy it later from someone else? I still think he is a good crypto supporter and he wants to see everything succeed but what do you guys think of him owning bitcoin.com?
so far he has been damaging reputation of bitcoin and also selling fake bitcoins to newbies who come in his website. so it is pretty terrible that he owns bitcoin.com

Thanks for the explanation. I have seen a few Bitcoin.com billboards in the Bay Area.

The domains are free to acquire and if someone bought it legally, there should be no claim, however, for such important projects, it is common for people to sell that domain at a good price, but apparently those offers have not appeared or simply you do not want to sell to take advantage of the Bitcoin name.
