I myself have installed an antivirus that has been licensed so it is guaranteed its security so I am more comfortable doing important things on my computer because if I use an anti-virus that is too bad maybe now my computer is not safe because of many viruses.

Threas about safety will always be important and welcome to alert people. Well, I think most people still use Windows, so back up on cold hardwares and keep your operating system running with all the correct updates and protections as well. Well remembered by you in taking care of downloads and access to suspicious links and software. For exchanges, send only what you will trade or invest. Exchange is not wallet and no matter the credibility and situation of it. If you do not have the private key, the coins and tokens are not yours.

Recently, the internet is developing so fast that we meet a new virus every day. Although I am trying to protect my computer and my own documents with some programs, unfortunately, this situation cannot be prevented after a certain point. Especially because I use Windows operating system, I am constantly worried about it and I try to update the programs that I use every day. Although I have taken a lot of security measures, I cannot trust this operating system. The best advice I can give you is to use multiple programs instead of using a single program, because in some cases the only program can be inadequate. It is also useful for you to choose programs that have proven themselves and are popular in this field and are really successful.

To safe yourself from worrying about which locker to use why don't you just get yourself hardware wallet? You can easily safe your coins on ledger wallet or others so you won't have to worry about friends using your pc and installing trojans

Security today is a very expensive thing, I think that today not every person is engaged in this, but if the data given to you is very expensive, then I think it is better not to skimp on this. Therefore, I think this is normal.

I agree that a windows password would not be very helpful because when you download a malware I will be installed on your computer while it I running. I think many people don't take anti-virus programs very seriously even though they are very important. Even a free antivirus it would help you detecting some of the viruses.

I don't install anything on my computer but all the data is in my form using an external hard drive for data, if I want to use it, just connect it to the PC, so it is safer in my opinion.

The latest type of harmful software doesn't take the virus mode for stealing personal data. Black hat hackers use the malware based on the cache of browser and browser extensions. Better to buy lifetime subscriptions from known big data protection software sites.

I don’t think there is any need to go as far as using such software of your system because once you have a very strong paid antivirus and anti-phishing system, you will hardly see any phishing website gain access to your system or better still buy an apple laptop, all those control measures are already in place.

One thing I have also realized why some of this phishing sites gain access to our system despite the anti-phishing or anti-virus software we use, when these software gives a warning sign, the laptop user still end up forcing the application on the system  or force the site to open based on our assumption that it’s safe. We also need to learn to use password that will take decades for hacker to hack.

Personally I use Linux and I try to have a good computer hygiene but it's not easy :
- Do not install everything and anything
- Encrypt maximum data on keys with password
- Use Firefox and add-ons like https everywhere, ublock ...

The one thing I made recently was buying a new computer. I left all wallets on my old laptop and do not touch it almost. Other operations and net surfing I do on the new computer. I think it's good investment, which actually didn't ask too much money from me. But like that I'm calm about all of my coins.

Yes I am protecting  my computer because lots of scammer and we all should protect out wallet because in one single time.
How you are protecting your computer and wallet from those scammers,it will be helpful if you explain how you are doing it. Smiley
Just use desktop wallet and never try to visit any suspicious website and then you will be fine and you should not feel worry about that. all of the tutorials have already created by a lot of websites and it's so easy to visit the trusted one to get the tutorial.
But even google has lot of pop up ads which ma redirect into some shady websites as well so its is not alone going to help us,and more over it is not possible to avoid those links as well.
Virtually everyone wants to make money through GoogleAdSense now and they would allow any form of advert on their site and once you go on this site, ads keeps popping up which some of them contains lots of these spam site that will silently install some of these spy software on our system.

So, if we can do without some of these sites, the best is to activate an ad blocker on our computer that will instantly block any form of ad trying to pop out through these sites, we also need to have a very effective antivirus software on our system. For me, I have been using 360 total securities, not the free version but the one I paid for.

Go back in time and you will be protected.
It doesnt even need a password.
Just a pen and a paper and all is set. Do not keep anything important in your computer or your smart phone (they are not really smart).

Regarding anti-virus, I do not use any. Those who creates those antiviruses are the ones who creates the virus themselves.

Make it simple. Or if you are too lazy to write in a pen then put it in a flash drive then delete it from your computer.
Your password wont protect you.

Besides making sure not to download the wrong programs that can be fake programs like fake wallets and not clicking on links, what other important things should you do to protect your computer?  Yes i know you should not put crypto in it but even those who have hardware wallets, some coins cannot be put in the hardware wallet and you need to put it on its own wallet you install or in an exchange.

First off, does everyone here put a password on their computer?  I read the windows password is completely useless.  But does anyone here use veracrypt or a program where you must enter a password on your computer before you can log in?  Because i read cases where a hacker if they have access to your laptop can put a virus, trojan, keylogger in your computer... then shut down your computer and if you never knew someone accessed your computer, well anything you type on it can be visible to the hacker.  Of course this requires someone smart to have physical access to your laptop.  Thus if they take your laptop, well even if they put a trojan on it, well as long as you don't type your stuff on it, thats fine.

Can someone tell me what program they use to password protect their laptop?  I do not do this as i heard this process is not that simple.  I heard there is either veracrypt or bitlocker.  Are those the only 2 options or best 2 options?  If so, which do you choose and with it, does that mean a thief with access to your laptop cannot get into your laptop and store anything in it like trojan unless they have the password?  Because say someone installed a trojan in your laptop while you are not there for a bit... let say its just a friend who did it b/c they know you have crypto... that is dangerous.  Any advice here?
If you are really serious about protecting your coins that are stored in your personal computer then you need to leave Windows behind and begin to use Linux, there is simply no other way, the Windows operative system is simply to insecure to store any meaningful amount of money, so you need to download your favourite Linux distribution, verify that everything is correct and then install it and if possible try to avoid connecting that computer to the Internet so the chances of getting hacked remotely are low.

In the digital world there is no perfect security and even though we protect our computers from these threats, all will also return to the owner of the device, if the device owner does not maintain or use it whenever your device can be attacked by a virus. So the most important thing is how you wisely use your device to store all the assets you have.

Offline security is the best if you don't believe to offers by online services. I bought special tablet for storing my own coins and i never let it to connect the Internet. Protecting the personal computer is harder than 3 years ago.

We can protect our computer from viruses by installing anti virus apps but for hackers, we can't make it. Cause even though you buy new computer and left your keys into the old one's but still your wallet keys is accessible into other computers as it stored in online wallet. We've never know that if we check it again its already empty. It could only be safe if we store in hardware or offline wallets.

I use the Linux Ubuntu operating system. This helps me to protect myself from viruses and other unpleasant programs. I can open any sites and letters without fear of getting a virus on my computer.
I think that Linux is the best operating system in terms of security. And I am very grateful to its creators!

We can protect our computer from hackers by not clicking suspicious link. Most suspicious link sent to our email and we should ignore it or delete it. Hacking already common these days because hackers know our crypto is valueable. Better make backup on device not connected with internet
