Don't use the computer online. As simple as that! Only sign messages and copy them to your online computer.

Activate your antivirus, if you're using windows 10 then windows defender is a good choice.
Don't forget to turn on the firewall too, because if you're using public wifi, the firewall can protect your network and your computer so be sure to keep this thing on.

Hey mate, hos is it possible not to use your computer online, except you strictly want to be using your pc for office doc, movies and gaming but so long you are engaging yourself in anything that has to do with internet, your computer must always be online, in fact, trading requires that your system is online 24 hrs.

So, I don’t think staying offline with a PC is possible for anyone, the best is just to put all necessary security gadgets in place that will protect the system from external intruders, most especially hackers, we have lots of company that has dedicate their time to seeing that these security gadgets are effective, so best is to protect your system with the genuine ones and keep it updated.

Hey all related question.  So i want to buy a security camera for my apartment.  The reason is because if there are any thieves or if someone were to access my laptop and do something with it and then leave it as is and then if i use it, then i might have no idea they installed malware/trojan or anything like that.

Im going to buy a camera on amazon and i notice some reviews, they say the camera is hacked etc.  Reviews were like they heard or saw someone viewing their home or apartment with it.

Now if that is the case, does that mean they could view your keystrokes or anything you view on your laptop or anything like that?  However, if you are setting it up with only your cell phone which most of these security cameras seem to do, then thats fine?  I want to buy a security camera and point it at my door when im not there or even there but one concern is if it gets hacked, could i potentially hack my laptop or something or internet network or hack my wallet?  Or make sure you get a security camera where you dont read anything like this in the reviews.

Since there is no way your PC can be 100% secure, the best solution will still be that you should use hardware wallets to protect your asset.
There are times you might not be able to prevent attacks by malware, because new ones are being developed almost every time. So you just have to keep updating your PC with with anti-malware, which I feel might be strenuous and not effective.

Just as a supplement:

I you don't own a hardware-wallet it's still possible to strongly increase the security of your funds by isolating your private-key from the internet and signing your transactions offline. However hardware-wallets are much more convenient and I'd prefer paying 59€ for a Ledger Nano S.

Guide for offline-transactions using MEW:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4500372.0

Guide for offline-transactions using MyCrypto:
https://support.mycrypto.com/offline/making-offline-transaction-on-mycrypto.html

Well, you are right, but you can just simple purchase a hardware wallet of not mpre that $50, in order to save and help you from losing your hard earned money or your million or even thousand dollars portfolio.

Offline security is the best if you don't believe to offers by online services. I bought special tablet for storing my own coins and i never let it to connect the Internet. Protecting the personal computer is harder than 3 years ago.
If you were going to buy a device to store your coins, wouldn't be better to buy a hardware wallet? Unless you're trying to store coins that are not very well known a hardware wallet is a safer way to store your coins and not only that a hardware wallet can be very cheap especially if we compare it to other options like buying another computer or another smartphone and the best part is that you have a device that was is specifically designed to store your cryptocurrencies in a safe way.

In maintaining the computer or device that you are using it is very important especially to maintain a privacy account so that it is not lost or forgotten. Of course we already know that this device is very susceptible to damage because it is not good enough in treating or because it is basically old. We must be extra careful because all our assets and data are on the computer, we must pass them on to other devices so that all data is safe.

I do not recommend you to use online wallets. Today, the most secure method to store cryptocurrency is hardware wallets Ledger and Trezor.

choose that is truly safe and easy to do.
Their Ladger and Trezon hardware wallets are good and safe wallets, but maybe if those who have different tastes might be more suitable other so my advice is that you have to be careful and check whether it's really safe or not, because maybe something bad will happen to prevent it from starting now.
good choices are in your hands, trust yourself.

I use an antivirus and a malware protector for my computer.
My browser is equipped with script blockers and I individually check each script the site is trying to execute and individually allowing or blocking them.
I don't have a large amount to be stored in hard wallets, but anything I have is scattered around different exchanges and wallets.

I also have on spare tablet to use for my security and to store good coins like bitcoin but we should not be too confident on this one because it can still be steal by snatchers or even robbery is possible. Its actually hard to secure your wallet, and this is why I have so many back-up of my keys and I have more codes than only myself knows how to break that code.

The most important thing that I need to do is to clean the computer from all sorts of rubbish)) the Laptop is a personal notebook and cryptocurrency storage for many people and therefore you need to treat it with extreme caution. Take care of yourself and your coins!

Just do this thing:
Never visit an unknown website nor downloading any applications from it. Also make use of your bookmark page, to prevent you from visiting the wrong domains.

With just that, you have already prevented unnecessary problems in the future. In fact, staying on your trusted website isnt that bad, as for it has been already tested, the features and its security. No need to take risks.

And if you're still at it, make sure to do a research first before clicking the website.

It is also worth saying that it is always necessary to make backup copies of the most important files and store them in secure encrypted containers where it is the most difficult to get to them.

For now, I didn't even experience to be scammed or hacked when it comes to my own PC having some malwares or any other suspicious virus that do affects by machine.
I do just follow the basic behavior to protect yourself into potential threat that would compromise your security.I have antivirus on pc, not clicking any suspicious links,
making back-ups incase of troubles. So far I'm still on the safe side.

I use the Linux Ubuntu operating system. This helps me to protect myself from viruses and other unpleasant programs. I can open any sites and letters without fear of getting a virus on my computer.
I think that Linux is the best operating system in terms of security. And I am very grateful to its creators!
I was putting linux OS for my raspberry pie to store crypto and that gives me more convenience rather than use any other offline or online wallet. Because it's too rarely to find someone that interested to develop the malware for linux. that's the best solution too and i agree with you

if you use the device carefully and are not reckless in browsing the digital world sites, I think it will still be fine, so I myself only use antivirus and 2fa to secure my account, it is safe enough and I use one special laptop for trading and other activities in the cryptocurrency world.

the most important thing is if you want to be safe we have to be careful of phishing sites or incoming e-mail is not clear by offering greater benefits easily, because if we enter it not only is our account vulnerable but our work devices will also be broken into.

Maybe I should try it like what you say. If you are comfortable and safe storing crypto. That means I have to try it too. Because I don't want to lose my assets anymore because I store it in my wallet online or offline. Thank you friends for providing a solution for this.

No matter how hard you try or how often you clean your system, you cannot really stay away from experience some of the rubbish sites that pops out without your authorization as long as your personal laptop is connected to the internet, and since you can’t keep formatting your pc from time to time.

The best way will be to still get some of these malware strong tools that will always protect the laptop against all sort of these malware on the internet that may want to have access to your personal information. You know these malware takes advantage of Google advert a lot, and some of the crypto sites you visit have these advert and the moment you go on those sites, you become vulnerable without a good security tools install on the pc.

Another way around this is to at all times have the latest security patches from Microsoft itself. I don't know how it works but Microsoft constantly releases security updates to counter any vulnerability detected in their software. I think by having updated softwares as a whole: in browsers, anti-virus and so on, someone can still reduce or eliminate hacking situations. Hackers are hungry for cryptos. Let's stay safe.
