Eerrh!! Ah well, I think you should do a little "contact-your-maunfaturer" exercise because personally I know China has the best mining products in the space. Moreover, many of the best minimal companies manufacture their products there. And also be careful where you buy your chips from, many people do "fake" products in the name if China. I'm from Africa and I have experienced many of such before even though they weren't from China.

To be honest, it doesn't matter if the bios is shit.
These boards were built to mine 24/7 on, and not to have highly advanced tinker-happy bioses. Set it up and forget about it, basically.

hell  I had 3 models  6 slot or 8 slot  I used smos.  everyone I kept still works.

I broke one due to my own stupidity.

I sold most of the 25 I purchased.  Some buyers struggled because they insisted on running them with windows when I sold them I said don't run them with windows they run well with smos.

I think op  is trying to get more from the board then he should be doing .. all my 8 slot units ran great with 4-6 cards set at 200 watts a piece.

I am only running 2 boards  each with 4 cards in alternate slots lots of breathing room and have 4 or 5 sitting idle.

Some quality products are produced in China so you can't deduce all Chinese products are bad. price will also say the quality obtained, maybe you buy a brand that is of ordinary quality and low price

Indeed, not all Chinese goods are bad and prices also affect quality, but what I know is that Chinese goods are known to be quality goods. I used to buy a lot of stuff from there and everything was damaged quickly.
It's better to choose other items because there are still many similar items that have better quality.

Aren't most things produced in China these days? I'm sure some of the chinese home brands will better their quality as the years go by. Maybe China will be the new Japan in 10 years time in good quality terms.

I was taught that if you buy cheap you will get shit. In China, you can buy good products, but they will cost much more than what they offer at low prices.

are you talking about the riserless 8GPU mobos? or what?
Exactly what I'm talking about, these things were made with such old bios and made so finicky that they constantly have problems.

I once got a friend that boasted of mining cryptocurrencies on his Chinese phone, despite dissuations on the facts that the phone runs on an mtk device with low computing power, he went ahead to mine but got his phone totally fried

It's common sense that you get what you pay for. The good stuff has always been more expensive than the bad cheap stuff.
I get a feeling some vendors will first try to sell you the cheap crappy stuff, then you come back some time later and buy the good stuff. That way they can sell more and make even more money off of you.

Haha hold on man, you'll get what you want;) i just know how it feels when nothing really works as it should have been and you only
waste time yelling at your equipment. from my experience not all Chinese motherboards are pure piece of nonsense, as well as not all ""famous"" ones are
great and cost their money.  It's a matter of luck to pick up a decent motherboard when marketing is here to deceive you.

Rather dubious. I used them for a year and did not notice any special problems. Maybe it's a matter of chance?

I have only used an Onda 8 slot riserless motherboard with a really old processor which it had built in if I recall it correctly and it worked great with Linux.Windows just doesn't works well with these kind of motherboards so I think the Os in these boards make a lot of difference.

Linux can run on practically anything and does not require a whole lot of resources to do so. There are some very lightweight distroes out there that does just that job, and does it well.

I bought four of the low-end model Octominer built from their very first pre-order batch around 2 years ago now I believe.  They've all been working great for me but perhaps I simply got lucky as I've heard similar complaints as the OP's from others that purchased on a larger scale.  I only connected two of the 6-pin connections to the motherboard which is what they list as the minimum.  Perhaps that limited the power the board was delivering to the pci-e slots, maybe I really did just get lucky on my four boards.  All I know is that if they had fit in the server chassis I had built I would have bought at least 100 more.

Bottom line is I would rather deal with finicky motherboards (which I didn't even experience.  They were plug and play for me) that I know will work once setup as opposed to 8x miserable risers that even after I finally get connected properly will eventually die in unpredictable ways giving seriously cryptic errors.

Did anyone doubt that? I always thought it wasn't the best motherboard supplier. How did you even decide to buy them?

really? but I wanted to order it from aliexpress...

Dont do that. Everything is fake. If you are planning to invest money in mining then go for reputed products. All chinese products are shit even the toys . Personally I dont buy and give my child a toy if its manufactured in China . Instead you can prefer Korea or Japan products. They are very durable.

Chinese are making everything today, they are making huge quantities and that`s why they are cheaper. Quality of Chinese products is always questionable. I bought many times some Chinese junk, and many times I said I will never buy nothing Chinese again, but I still make mistakes, it`s what I can afford. I just have one rule, don`t give too much money for something Chinese, and if it stops working after sometime just throw it away and buy another.

The Chinese are smart. They produce large quantities of junk at low prices because they know us Western dimwits will buy it. Just look at the toys or electronics departments of the large stores around you. They're full with Chinese crap and full with people buying it.

The Chinese are able to do high quality stuff for themselves. Just look at their highway network... or the massive infrastructural wonders they've built lately...
