I just noticed that Exodus made a wallet for mobile. I don't have an iPhone so I would like to get some reviews from people who already used the wallet in their devices. The wallet should be available soon in Google play so I want to know what to expect and whether it's worth waiting for or not.

So, my first impressions:

It’s as user-friendly as their PC version of it. This means no advanced features or options. There is the basic and simple Send/Receive, Exchange (through Shapeshift) and the Portfolio graph.

You can backup the wallet with the 12 word seed and disable assets from showing up.

It only uses bech32 addresses, so you may have some trouble when using a service/wallet/exchange that only supports 1 and 3 addresses.

A huge feature I see it’s missing is the option to customize fees. The wallet is suggesting me a fee of 0.0000546 BTC and there is no way of changing it.

I guess that’s all. I personally wouldn’t use it since it’s lacking tons of features I consider necessary (just like their PC version).

Edit: I also couldn’t find a way of restoring a wallet. Even when reinstalling it, there is no “Create or Restore” option. It just creates a new wallet. No visible options in the “Settings” page.

What is this 5460sats for, what is the size of the transaction, is it the standard ~140 bytes for a 1 input 1 output bech32 tx?

Exodus devs already said they won’t add those features because they focus on “noob” users that don’t know much. I’m not expecting more advanced features on their wallet (which is why I don’t use it).

My wallet was empty, so that’s probably the fee for a 1 input and 1 output tx. The point is that you can never choose your own fees, so sometimes the mempool will get full and you will get stuck with a huge unnecessary fee.

Damn. For a supposedly "feature-packed" wallet, they actually left out one of the most important features huh. Such a shame, knowing that they have good UI.

I mean, they should've at least made it an "advanced user only" feature. Also taking into consideration that most wallets very inaccurately estimate the recommended fees in the first place. Huge deal breaker in my opinion.

I downloaded the original exodus when it was first released... Then queried the Devs as to why there was no way to backup your wallet until after you made your first deposit!!?!

Like, it's one of the first things I do with any new wallet... Create wallet, create backup, test backup to confirm it works properly.

Not being able to do that until after you have commited funds is asking for trouble!

Also, queried lack of fee customisation.

I got some bullshit wishy-washy answers... Deleted the wallet and have never looked at it since.

TryNinja's comments indicate that they might have since changed the wallet so you can generate a backup before finding the wallet... Can anyone else confirm this?

Is there a sync with your computer or just a restore through words?

I couldn’t even find an option to restore a wallet, which is weird. So, I guess thats a no.

You can only set up a PIN of 6 digits and enable FaceID/TouchID for a quick unlock (when it’s PIN protected).

A pretty weak wallet IMO.

This is a major issue with Exodus. The fees for even small transactions are enormous.

There isn’t one.
It looks like they added the “restore wallet” option. Not sure why they didn’t do that first, but there it is.

So now my question is, if I switch the pricing to Cryptocompare from Exodus pricing server on my desktop wallet, is that getting synced to my mobile wallet at all? I assumed it wasn't the case and hence wanted to access the dev mode.

Besides that, having access to it allowed me quick access to the data folder on PC. Does anyone know where the data folder is saved on Android devices?

Settings should be stored locally and they're restored to default in each new device.

The Android version is not out yet but it's soon coming.

iOS doesn’t give you any liberty to check the files and rooting it (jailbreak) is a pin in the ass and doesn’t work on the latest versions.

For Android (the app isn’t out yet) you will probably be able to see and edit them if your phone is rooted.

If the application allows to be run in debug mode, there is a better way doing it (instead of rooting):

• Enable developer options on android
• Connect phone to computer
• Access phone via adb shell
• Run the app in debug mode (via adb) -> Voila. You can access all files of this application

I'd also recommend everyone to never root your phone if it is not absolutely necessary. You compromise a lot of security when rooting your mobile.
You are basically disabling all security measurements regarding application- / data- encapsulation.

So the question now is whether there is debug mode support for the app in Android - which we won't know until we get an android release. Can anyone confirm if the debug mode works in IOS? Then perhaps that would be something that'll be carried over to the Android version.

Unless it's a native app in which case they could be removing that feature from the ground up.
