We've heard exchange getting hacked and millions of dollar worth crypto being stolen.
Last year, Myetherwallet was exposed and hacker penetrated and stole alot.
Scam ICO made away with millions in recent years.
Crypto traders and investors are taking precautions so as to not fall victim. This doesn't guarantee Scam free Crypto space coz right now someone is being scam.

What could be the biggest Crime in cryptocurrency

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I can think of a lot of things but the infamous Mt. Gox hack was, for me, the biggest crime made in the cryptoworld. Not only does it expose a lot of flaws and vulnerabilities of the then young cryptocurrency but it also projected the dangers of having to entrust one's funds into a centralized exchange/entity. The next in line would have to be Silk Road, which was operated supposedly by Ross Ulbricht, which, again, informed the world about the possible use of bitcoin in the criminal underworld due to its pseudo-anonymity, hard to trace transactions and its overall qualities which is pretty much helpful in remaining anonymous while transacting with other people.

The biggest crime in Crypto currencies are the fact that private centralized institutions hijacked the whole experiment and then caused all these problems. Satoshi did not want people to do P2P transactions via 3rd part centralized services, he wanted people to trade 1 on 1.

These centralized services used exploitable code and hackers and thieves quickly realized this and they targeted these vulnerabilities. So Bitcoin was not responsible for these hacks, but rather 3rd party <centralized> services with weak software.  Angry

The whole concept of cryptocurrency was decentralization. But when the centralization was brought in. Then the problem begins. Can this be solved tho

This is why I usually prefer completing my trades through P2P or OTC solutions when compared to transacting on exchanges. LocalBitcoins is my favorite solution in this aspect and it remains my preferred platform when compared to Binance, Bittrex etc.

Centralization of crypto and the entire KYC process are the biggest crimes in the crypto world.

The problem in crypto is that is nobody lands so if you got scammed or robbed there is nothing you can do about it.

Play safe, get protected and don't fall to any old scams. Always do your own research.

The biggest crime in cryptocurrency? I think there isn't crime to.be committed in cryptocurrency. But, there could be a civil case regarding on those hijacker stealing money from hijacking exchanges and wallets. Usually hijacking amounting to millions of hack crypto is already considered as biggest civil case because it is just like robbing a bank or more than that if the hijacker accumulate huge amount from it.

What could be the biggest Crime in cryptocurrency
About this question, we have witnessed exchange hacks, scam ICO, web wallet vulnerabilities and other stuffs. Eventually this had always been part for industries
which do involves money were there are really some bad guys do really like to take advantage to gain easy money specially on crypto where anonymity is very
usable which make themselves hard to track which is the best recipe with these kind of crimes.

the biggest "crime" in this space is always going to be scams. specially when they are being sold as real thing while scamming people like a weasel.
last year we had lots of coins that stole bitcoin's name and abused it to scam people out of millions of dollars. there were even some which were being sold to newbies as "bitcoin". you can see in technical support board how many victims bought what they thought was "bitcoin" and never received such thing in their wallets since it was actually a shitcoin stealing bitcoin's name.

otherwise the hacks and things like that happen. they are not big "crimes' in my opinion. they are not specific to this world either.

Actually in myetherwallet scam, I am one of the stupid bitcoiner that being scam. They sent an email as the same as the email of campaign manager at bounty asking for my info like KYC and asking my private keys.I thought it was legit because campaign manager was always sent an email update to me. So next day I found out that my coin  was stole. So I can say that scam is the biggest crime here in cryptocurrency.

I think as long as there are people who are evil and tries to scam and make easy money, they will be innovating all the way. It's just like a battle between Good and Evil, and there would never be a balance, at least for a long time. It's just like how hackers/programmers find a way to pirate an application which benefits some of the people who can't afford. I think the main difference between that is like a white hat thing vs a black hat thing.

Probably fraud is the biggest crime that can be in cryptocurrency. Also, of course, the illegal use of cryptocurrency in money laundering or terrorist financing. There is nothing else wrong with cryptocurrency. At the moment, most users of cryptocurrency have only become richer.

How much you have lost of how much were lost from the same scammer? I dont think your case can be called as the biggest crime in this cryptocurrency history, probably it was the biggest for you only.

The biggest crime in Crypto currencies are the fact that private centralized institutions hijacked the whole experiment and then caused all these problems. Satoshi did not want people to do P2P transactions via 3rd part centralized services, he wanted people to trade 1 on 1.

I have to agree that the centralized 3rd party service has broken the main purpose of the bitcoin/crypto creation but I cant deny that their existence as the third party helps bitcoin enthusiast to convert their bitcoin into fiat or into other coins easier than P2P transactions.

Hacks with exchanges takes place quite often, and those weren't that easy to overcome. When something gets value automatically people try to evade into it. This is how the increased attack over exchanges takes place. Those mentioned by Op were the hacks, when it comes to crime I came across a darkweb service where we can killa a person anonymously just paying in bitcoin and giving details regarding the person to be killed which is very bad.

I think the biggest crime in cryptocurrency is a scam. Such a thing sucks. someone will never believe in cryptocurrency if they have become victims of scamming. If you no longer trust the cryptocurrency, the value will also be lost

The biggest crime? For me? Is that the more I find out about actual behaviours from users, the more I realise we really are far, far away from helpful adoption. Merchants accepting Bitcoin but not actually owning a Bitcoin wallet (because they're actually just using third-party processors like BitPay). Users thinking they own Bitcoin but all they have is an account at some online wallet where they paid the exchange money, and the exchange promises to send them Bitcoin if they ever withdraw it. Investors who call themselves adopters but have never spent a single satoshi outside an exchange.

That's the crime.

Cryptocurrencies are widely used to sell drugs, guns and porn. There are even marketplaces around the  dark web. They are illegal and at the same time pretty popular. I'm sure that internet drug stores have a huge daily volume of BTC that is passing thru them. Those numbers could be even larger than we've seen on those crypto scam reports and at the same time there should be a lot of creepy stories from the dark web where Bitcoin was used as a source of payment.

For me, the biggest crime in cryptocurrency is "Altcoins". That was the step when other people changed the source code as they want and as a result bitcoin losses its participants. We can also see many scams and wrongdoings are mostly related to altcoins and not with bitcoin. As because bitcoin was less exposed to modification and altcoins are controlled by some individuals.
