people think bitcoin has no value because it's not real, but they don't realize that they already use digital money in spending. I feel the assumption that the currency needs to be supported by the government that drives this trust.

I remember someone asked me if bitcoin is legit or not cause he always saw an advertisement about it in the internet then i answered yes. Bitcoin is not fake it just like people think that it is a fake or its a scam because they don't understand what it can do. But i'm really happy for your nephew the fake that he think can make him a millionaire someday. I hope people in new generation will be open about bitcoin instead of talking bad to it.

The OP is not saying that bitcoin is fake. he told a story about his nephew thinking that bitcoin is not real so
he asked his nephew if the in-game currency he is using in the game is real or not and his nephew soon realizes
that Digital Item can have value in the real world just like bitcoin being digital and having a value in the real world.

Good idea on bringing up the virtual currency of the game, And it actually depends on the listener, if the one that you are talking to and explaining what BTC is or at least trying to convince that cryptocurrency is real and that the listener has zero knowledge about "virtual in-game currency" and "cryptocurrency" and then the listener believes that cryptocurrency is fake then I think you'll have to do better than what you have just said with your nephew, but again I do believe that if there's a will there's a way so I'd suggest convincing other people too whether if they have knowledge or none about cryptocurrency then I think it's worth trying even if it's going to be hard.

Initially, Bitcoin was not created as money. However, recently, in February 2019 it was officially recognized as money in Wyoming (the USA). Probably, we are on the way to have 2 official currencies - crypto and fiat.

Bitcoin is a virtual currency but there we need real money to trade it and use it or to cashout it, he don't understand how crypto works, you should tell him is similar to stocks market.

I like your story about Bitcoin with your nephew
But, what will you do if sometimes Bitcoin price dropped too much and he loses his money?
maybe you need to consider to tell him about the risk of investing/using the cryptocurrency especially Bitcoin, so he will never rekt and hate you...  Cheesy

well, many say that bitcoin is a fake thing, but they sometimes use money online to shop for something, just like the diamond. well, isn't that the same thing. I also often argue with people who say that this is something fake, or similar to it.

I think you're the one that needs to do some more reading, and not the user you seem to attack for using the term virtual.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_currency

A whole Wikipedia page dedicated to what a virtual currency is, and Bitcoin definitely fits in that category.

Overall, it doesn't even matter what you call it (eg. crypto currency, virtual currency, digital currency, etc) because Bitcoin checks all boxes, and most people seem to agree, while you are one of the few exceptions that don't.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

I don't see bitcoin as fake money. This is a very legitimate currency actually. There is just no government that makes bitcoin balance. The volatility is always there and it is not manipulated by the government which is good.
Bitcoin fits in the current generation, almost all today are digital which is also leading to digital payment and bitcoin is always there for anyone.

Last weekend I spend some time with some of my relatives and one of them were playing a online game called, Forge of Empires. This is a browser-based strategy game with more than 10 million registered users  Shocked

The main goal of the game is to expand and develop a city beginning from the Stone Age and ending in the Virtual Future. (They even have Crypto currencies as a tradable commodity within the game)  Grin <Well, not actual Crypto currencies, just a in-game commodity>

So after watching my nephew playing for 1 hour and talking to him, he revealed to me that he spend over $1000 on buying virtual diamonds in the game. <in 6 months>  Roll Eyes

We started talking about real Crypto currencies and he immediately started the argument that Crypto currencies are "fake" money and that it was not real money or even a commodity. My counter argument floored him, because I asked him if the diamonds that he bought in the game was real or if the items that he bought in the game was real.?

His whole perspective on Crypto currencies changed, when he realized that digital items can have a value and that the virtual items that he bought within the game had less value than the bitcoins that can be bought and sold.  Wink

He asked me to help him buy some bitcoins and he was very happy after a week, when he saw his investment in the supposed "fake" money, going up in value when the price increased.

Should we confront more people with the argument that most of the digital items that are bought online, might have less value than Crypto currencies.  Wink

Ps. I emailed the developers of the game <InnoGames> and asked them if they might consider accepting Bitcoin as a payment option, but they gave the generic answer that they are open to new payment options, but they cannot give a timeframe for when this might happen. <I think more people should ask them>  Tongue
Sorry for late reply but your scenario seems very curious for me. It's 100% different thing whenbyou pay money in games to buy diamond and develop your character or empire or anything. It's addictive at some point because you are so turned in game that you pay money to develop faster and better.
But what it had to do with bitcoin? It's curious how you changed his mind but in overall you did and changed in a good way. Still don't understand why people can't believe that something online is real, must it has to be named usd? Our bitcoin is 100% better than your usd, if you don't believe, no problem but at least understand things and then talk.

There was a game where I remember they accepted in-game payments via a type of cryptocurrency called lindens. After-life was the name of the game. I havent played it in ages so dont know if it is still around or if people are even still playing it. But when it came out it was fun at the time to explore and buy things with these forms of cryptocurrency.
I believe lindens could be exchanged for bitcoin by their payment system virwox which is still around when people want to exchange their bitcoin for paypal.
Bitcoin fake money. I certainly think not! Grin

Well, it has valued the reason it can be used like that but I don't think it is treated as money since I see it as an asset rather than money. As I said, it has value the reason it is accepted and traded by a lot of people. I think if Bitcoin has no value, it would never be accepted like that.

Bitcoin for many are just like a ponzi scheme or a piece of shit coins. But to be honest it is not of course, bitcoin is money for me.
In fact, this is where I get my source to sustain all of my expenses in billings, groceries, and allowances. Because if this is not a money for sure I won't survive for 5 years being here in crypto for sure.

This argument is a bit old. We proved a long time ago that bitcoin has a use. Even when it first started gaining momentum you could use it at hosting companies and domains. Online items and giftcodes.
Now we can order physical items online without any long wait for transactions.

Bitcoin for many are just like a ponzi scheme or a piece of shit coins. But to be honest it is not of course, bitcoin is money for me.

I think ponzi should be a word saved for pure ponzi schemes otherwise people throw it around loosely. if bitcoin is a ponzi then so it fiat and almost anything else involving trade.

if Bitcoin was a fraud, then until today everyone would know about it.  In the cryptocurrency market, very smart people are engaged in this activity, and I very much doubt that someone can deceive them.

people think bitcoin has no value because it's not real~~~~~~

They have forgotten that, the world has gone cashless and here's another method of payment that's more efficient for the long awaited cashless policy with transparency and freedom, but they are still not understanding the digital currency becasue is a virtual type. They will wake from their slumber to accept the fact that, bitcoin has come to stay and it's final.

It is much better than stocks because you can spend these stocks directly. You can trade stocks for other spendable stocks as well. Much faster then the tradiitional stock market and far less labour intensive since they have to keep holdings of oil and gold or the maintenance of a large company since only large companies are the ones that mostly use stocks. With crypto even the smallest of companies can use stocks (cryptocurrency).
