Strickland surprised me. Hernandez on the paper looked much better. Strickland was an underdog with +3.00 odds. Took every round and finished Hernandez in last round. But. Even though people love his simple, sometimes redneck and rude mind thinking, it might be dangerous for UFC reputation to put him on White House event and give him microphone. For example if he starts talking his anti-gay politics, it might not work well for event of such kind, as I think it would not be not only about sports, but about politics also.

Sean Strickland interviews are currently the most entertaining thing in the UFC. I hope whatever happens he can end up on the White House card. I would love to see him fight Khamzat Chimaev. Strickland is a great follow on X if you like his interviews.

Seen the media day interview but was there a pre-fight one for this fight night? Usually they don't have as much coverage for these than the main event numbered card ones.
Even those youtubers who cover movies and tv shows were showing highlights from the media day interview where he was mentioning about womens mma.

Sean Strickland just beat that guy’s ass… He was pounding on him until the ref stopped it. That’s the Strickland you love to see. Hopefully he can get himself on the White House card against Chimaev. He didn’t take much damage tonight.

Think he is going to be on that event now after this win and I think he knew it where he said something about Chimaev so there something to talk about now with him having a titleshot.

I checked the odds while the walkouts were going on and Hernandez odds were dropping while Stickland's were increasing so more bets were going towards the favorite.
The first round showed that Sean was in control of this fight since his punches landed just the way he wanted them too.
But that knee he got on Fluffy hurt him badly he just couldn't recover from it. Those who grabbed Strickland when he was 3.05x were lucky as it didn't need to go the distance so no judges to mess things up. I don't think Hernandez even managed to get a takedown where he might of out wrestled him. But Sean did mention he had been working on his grappling maybe getting ready for that Chimaev fight early on.
This fight night in Houston had a number of underdogs winning so I stuck with the fight going under 4.5 rounds for close to Stickland odds on my UFC betslip.

I don't know whether it would be more dangerous for Strickland to have a plane crash or to fight Khamzat... :)

If I had ordered a special curse for Strickland from tribal chiefs practicing black magic in Africa’s untouched forests, I think that curse would have been him facing Khamzat in the octagon... :)

Strickland, with his usual demeanor, always looked very relaxed in the cage. He started the fight cautiously, landing some accurate blows against Hernandez, but didn't overdo it, maintaining his control. Hernandez did have some accurate punches. Hernandez needed to wrestle and didn't use any low kicks. Strickland waited for the right moment and easily knocked him out.

There's a rumor going around that Poatan will fight Gane for the heavyweight title. He even posted a photo on Instagram weighing 110kg. Could this be confirmation? I saw videos of Dana White saying he'll support Poatan in anything he wants because he's always helped the UFC when needed. Have you heard of this rumor? Do you think it's possible?

I saw video from gym when Poatan stood on scales and showed 110kg. I also remember him saying he wants a third belt. To bad Hunter seems to be in charge of UFC now, and Dana could only suggest matchups. From all possible title matches, Poatan vs Gane will be most realistic to win. Gane will most probably fight whole fight standing, exactly what Poatan needs. Aspinall would try to submit. Would be really nice if someone manages to get 3 belts. That will be a history if Poatan makes that, because he cam late to UFC.

If you are looking at surprise underdog win than odds for Medic win against Neal are great, most likely with TKO.

Dana would do anything for Alex, even co-sign his bank loan. They have an incredible relationship... :)

The truth is that it’s a huge advantage for Alex that Aspinall isn’t around. However, I can’t blame Alex in this situation, I think the responsibility lies with Aspinall...

Also, I should mention that it's possible to win four belts for someone with the right matchups, and even we could win belts with the right matchups... :)

Not only did Sean lead on the scorecards for the first two rounds (20-18 by all judges) but he finally got a TKO finish, his first time since 2023. This puts him back up there in the top and he might be considered for the next title shot.

He played it well after the fight too by calling out Khamzat instead of making excuses not to fight him. We all know who would be the favourite in such fight, but Sean shows no fear (and no respect), which could lead many fans to believe he has a chance. That's a similar fight-selling tactic to what DDP did - keep acting confident, whether or not it's based on actual skills.

By the way, Strickland bashed Khamzat for wanting to move up to 205 to fight Jiri Prochazka. This is the first time I've heard about this. If true, I can somewhat understand why Khamzat would want to go that route. Currently, there aren't too many potential good matchups for him in the middleweight. But I think the UFC should make him defend the title at least once before allowing him to go up.

There is a possibility that even will be cancelled. I also heard such predictions. FIFA World Cup is starting this summer and they are working on a plan of possibly moving games that had to take part in Mexico to other cities and countries. Some local games are already postponed. UFC event will take place in Mexico city, but that disorder/shooting happens far from it. But I am sure that is going to affect ticket sales anyway.

I think he knows they won't give him Alex, so he wants Jiri as an easy way to get Alex. If he stays in his weight class, he'll stay in his comfort zone. It will be easier for him to do that...

On the other hand, Ilia moved up to Lightweight without ever defending the belt. Plus, he wasn't in an undisputed weight class like Khamzat...

I think these issues should become established rules and apply equally to everyone, but the UFC is a circus when it comes to such matters...

Poatan has the capacity to achieve this. He joined the UFC late and started his fighting career late we all know his history, from where he came from to where he is now. I want him to win three belts. Winning a heavyweight belt is a whole different level in itself, in my opinion. In the scenario with Gane, I wonder if Poatan will disrupt Gane's style or if Poatan will break him with his powerful punches. The truth is, he has the power to shake Gane with a solid left hook.

It would truly be a great achievement for him and for the competition itself. It would place him in an even more isolated position than he already is. And everything indicates that he will go, I think I've followed him for a long time and I've rarely seen him posting these weigh-in videos without apparent reason. And besides, the fight with Gane makes perfect sense for him, it would be better than Aspinall. I think the only difficulty will be the use of goggles during the fight to avoid any finger attacks.

I'm not sure how reliable that info is though. I've only heard it from Strickland, who's very interested in badmouthing Khamzat, so who knows if that's true at all. But I don't think Sean would just make it up.

I think at this stage of his career, Alex is more interested in big money fights rather than collecting belts. Gane is not the most exciting fighter out there. He got exposed by Jon Jones, although somewhat redeemed himself with the decent beginning ofthe fight with Aspinall, where many expected him to get KO'd very early.
Still, that's not quite the super-fight Pereira would aim for. On the other hand, he has not much left to do, he fought most of the top guys in the light heavyweight division except for Ulberg. Of these two, Gane is the more profitable option, so who knows.
I'm not quite sure what the UFC's stance is on weight-class hopping. It feels like it's getting a bit out of control.

According to this article this will not be cancelled, however, they are monitoring the news. We cannot predict what these cartels are going to do for their next revenge attack. If they will go inside the venue where the UFC event is happening, we can be very much certain that the Donald will protect his friend uncle Dana and send special forces to kill these drug cartel Mexicans heheheh.

Unrest in Jalisco followed a military operation that resulted in the deaths of seven cartel members, including leader Nemesio Ruben Oseguera Cervantes.
