Van is such an accidental champ that nobody is even discussing his fight against Taira, when it is going to be his first title defense Grin I really wish he would have a rematch with Pantoja, but division can not wait until he recovers. Chimaev and Strickland are pulling the blanket so hard that other fights are not getting much of an attention.

Khamzat made weight too. Since he was a little late, I thought there might be a problem, but he made weight. However, he looked terrible on the scale and afterward. Arman said in an interview that Khamzat would have to cut 21 kg. It was clear he’d gone through a very challenging weight-cutting process. This will undoubtedly affect the fight. If he can’t fully recover, his performance will suffer; if he does, Sean will feel a weight on him unlike anything he’s experienced before...
How is it even possible to cut 21 Kg in a short period of time and then expect to fight the very next day with your full strength. It will affect his cardio in the final rounds since he had to go through the weight cutting torture and i wont be surprise if there will be an upset tomorrow.

Going to watch Joshua Van fight for the first time, the 125 pound division is always overlooked by the fans but they usually have the most technical fighters.

Genuine bad blood before the fight, but after the fight, both of them will show respect to each other... or not? Maybe not because of how both of them spoke about their families during the press conference? Cheesy

Strickland would probably be willing to shake hands, especially if he were to win, but I don't think Chimaev will show any respect, not after Strickland shouted "you son of a whore" to him during the face-off. Offending one's mother is more than just trash talk to the people from the East. I wouldn't be very shocked if Sean gets jumped by a bunch of Chechens after the fight. Some type of a brawl is quite likely.

As for Sean's chances, according to Islam, it could be a tough fight for Khamzat. One of Islam's friends, Ramzan Kuramagomedov, has sparred a lot with Sean and says he's hard to hold down and always manages to get up after being taken down.
Strickland also tends to do quite well in the fights he's the underdog and has never lost to any Russian/European opponent (fought 8 of them). Then again, Khamzat won all of his fights, most of them in a super-confident fashion.

Trash talk is just part of the game. Guys like Sean might go a bit overboard sometimes, but that’s just part of the business...

But I have to ask: if this event were taking place anywhere other than the United States, would Sean be able to act this way? So, regardless of who our opponent is, do you think we should be a little more courteous when we are the home team?

Now, after all this, if Sean loses this fight, what will he have accomplished?

Of course, without exception, all these guys are egotistical people with high testosterone levels. Actually, these scenes aren’t much of a surprise to us...

They trained together and they sold this fight card, they shook hands before the fight happened inside the cage.

But I have to ask: if this event were taking place anywhere other than the United States, would Sean be able to act this way? So, regardless of who our opponent is, do you think we should be a little more courteous when we are the home team?
It is a fight game and it will happen everywhere.

Anyone watching the fight live, First round was all about Khamzat Chimaev controlling the fight in the ground,
Second round, Sean Strickland was able to defend the takedown and took Khamzat Chimaev down and he was in the bottom for the first time, the weight cut is showing signs.

~
The first round will be very important. Whoever can do state the start will be able to make the opponent start second guessing. It Strickland defends some takedowns well, Chimaev may not shoot for then as much anymore, but if Chimaev takes him down early, Strickland will find it hard to get back up.
What did I say how the fight will go mate. Sean Strickland won the fight and it was one of the greatest fights this year.

Everyone else will be surprised, Sean Strickland sold the fight and won the fight, Khamzat Chimaev should handle his weight cutting to fight in optimal condition, if not you need to reserve your stamina for the final rounds and someone with a bigger stamina will outbox you and that is what happened tonight.

Sportsmanship in the end was outstanding.  Kiss

Chimaev's hype train: derailed.
Strickland made the impossible happen and took the belt away from the Chechen. There will be no Chimaev's long reign in the middleweight, there will be no moving up to the light heavyweight and winning two belts at the same time, all that is gone.
The rumours of Strickland having great grappling defense and being hard to hold down turned out to be true. The fight was fought mostly standing and went to the distance, which benefited Sean.

The split decision was somewhat controversial, which could warrant an immediate rematch, but I don't think that's what we will see. The fight was far from being entertaining enough and Chimaev no longer have the invincibility aura, so there won't be much excitement from the fans.

Chimaev will likely have to fight someone else before getting a title shot. For Sean, I think he'll get Imanov next. He defeated him once back in 2023. DDCP is also an option, as he beat Sean, but his last fight was a loss, so he would need to get at least one win.

We have a nominee for an upset of the year Cheesy Nobody gave Strickland a chance and he has managed to smash Smesh face as well as win. Strickland, straightforward and 1000% predicted fighter beat one of the biggest threads of division. Not even cheating with scales helped Chimaev to win. Just imagine that this is Strickland second huge upset that he has made and while being a huge underdog.

Upset of the year candidate? Maybe, but we will agree that Strickland deserves to win this title as well. Expect more upsets in the future. Cheesy

When all odds are against him, here he is winning and giving Chimaev his first lost in his MMA career. I've watched the majority of the fight, and even though Chimaev successfully made 9 takedowns on 13 tries, Strickland manage to get out of it, and in the last 2 rounds, both fighters focused on striking instead of the usual hugging and in that area, Strickland has an advantage hence, the more strikes that we saw in the stat sheet. Maybe that's the basis of the final judge that's why he had a 48-47 score in favor of Strickland?

An immediate rematch between both fighters is needed because this is a very close fight. I mean 48-47 across all 3 judges and a Split Decision? That's the closest that a match can get. It's an upset if you will ask me, but we've seen Sean defeating Izzy when all odds are against him, and now he did it again against Chimaev. Well deserve.

It is a fight game and it will happen everywhere.

Thanks for your explanations, but Sean admitted after the fight that he went too far and apologized to everyone, even his elementary school teacher and the midwife who delivered him from his mother’s womb. So if this fight hadn’t been in America, he wouldn’t have acted this way.

According to Dana’s statement, Khamzat told Dana after the fight that he wanted to move up to Light Heavyweight. We probably won’t be seeing a rematch.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think Sean deserves this belt. He backed down the entire fight, and his guard is comical. I don’t care about Khamzat, but for God’s love, Roman Dolidze’s championship seems more realistic to me than this guy, who has no qualities other than being American. But still, he deserves congratulations. The belt is his today.

I mean, when I look at Sean, I wonder why a street vendor couldn’t do the same. If it has to be an American, it could be Joe Pyfer, or someone else. I have no problem with that... :)

Sean absolutely deserved to win the belt it was a great match for him. Khamzat underperformed nobody expected him to be this bad.
I already thought Sean would win, I wish I had bet, there were good odds for Sean. Everyone said Khamzat had problems with weight loss, but he had time and could have acted professionally. In short, the better prepared one won this fight.
I really wanted Sean to win, and that's what happened I'm happy with the outcome of the match.

Who could imagine that Strickland would win the match? Sadly, I totally forgot this fight and I missed to watch it but today, when I opened TikTok and saw the reels and comments, I couldn't believe to my eyes, I thought that I was in a dream because it felt too unreal. Anyways, congrats to Strickland, he was a great bet for easy money. I also agree with you, I feel like, Chimaev's hype has ended. This will also give a huge boost to DDP and I'm sure if there is a second fight between these two, DDP will beat Khamzat (he almost chocked him in the last minutes).

If there is a rematch between them or not, that depends on how Dana White sees the situation financially. If Dubai pays lots of money, then it doesn't matter much for Dana, he will do an immediate rematch.

Someone in the previous post said he saw this.

I already thought Sean would win

Did you see how Yaroslav Amosov finished it? It’s not exactly the same, but it reminded me of the DJ’s legendary finish. I wish he were a bit younger. He also has a very interesting life story.

A street vendor or any common Joe cannot fight like that, you need skill and balls to get into a cage and fight when the world is watching.

^  Who would've thunk.  Lol.  Van won the co main too.  Gotta watch the event again due to not watching well enough due to a lot of drinking.  Cheesy Cheesy

Re-watch Gautier vs Diaz fight and try to focus on what Diaz was saying to his corner after first round.

In case people dont know who is Ateba Gautier - he is Ngannou 2.0 from middleweight. In case you dont want to watch it or have no time, then Diaz told his corner that Gauties "has no power in hands". Minute later Gautier lands overhand and says Diaz goodnight Cheesy lol.

Still dont know what Jeremy Stephens is doing in UFC. 1-10 in his record in last fights. Most probably UFC followed McGregors "Who the f*ck is this guy?" and resigned him Cheesy

I have felt a feeling where I was scammed by this Khamzat hehehe. The feeling is something similar when I have encountered a friendly group of muslim friends in the cryptospace where they declare that they will not trade with leverage because they have told me this is riba and this is haram. However, also witness them extracted from people with 100 wallets on Solana heheheeheh.

This is very headshaking.

Criticizing a religious community through a fight organization is a bad act, but it’s also the conceptual definition of cultural power. It wouldn’t even be right to do this based on the ethnic background and religious leanings of all the scam project owners who we see in crypto. Because one is economic individual behavior, the other is ethical values. They are different concepts. But that doesn’t matter; I’m used to seeing this here and elsewhere. As I said, this is cultural hegemony.

Concepts form the foundation of moral concerns; the causes of moral behavior are sometimes psychological, sometimes social, and sometimes class-based. To criticize a concept through behavior, we must have a deliberate purpose. In short, what I mean is this: if cultural power did not permit it, we could not construct the rhetoric we are using now, saying “3+5=8, but 8 is not 3 or 5,” because we would be able to see this clearly.

By the way, this isn’t a discussion about religion or economics, but interest was not directly condoned by Aristotle and is either prohibited or partially frowned upon in the other two major religions as well.

If your argument about Sean Strickland winning is outside the scope of fighting and what actually happened inside the cage, then it is really difficult to comprehend.

If you are watching UFC, Sean Strickland's quality is winning fights and upset fight fans, first defeating Israel Adesanya and now Khamzat Chimaev.

It’s not difficult for me to explain this to you in a clearer and more objective way.

- Two days ago, just like the other 8 billion people in the world, you didn’t bet on Sean.
- Three months from now, if there’s a rematch with DDP or Khamzat, you will do the same thing.
- You did this and will do this again based on what you see inside the cage, just like the other 8 billion people in the world.

In your opinion, who is interpreting what’s inside the cage now, and who is in a bigger contradiction?

Three days ago, Khamzat was ranked 3rd on the P4P list. Three days ago, anyone who said Sean should be there wouldn’t even be able to get a driver’s license in some U.S. cities. Doctors would tell him to get a medical report... :)

Is there anyone today who could say Sean should be ranked 3rd? I’m sure no one would say that.

This fight completely demonstrated to me that Khamzat’s skills outside of wrestling are insufficient for an elite fighter. We’d witnessed this in his previous fights against Kamaru and Burns, but his fight against Sean proved it conclusively. DDP dominated Sean on his feet; Alex knocked him out. If you can’t knock out Sean, who are you going to knock out?
