^  Exactly why Chimaev 'was dead after first round of wrestling with Strickland'...  He cut too much weight as he got bigger lately.  I don't think he'll have the same problem with Prochazka 205.  If anything, Chim will be a lot stronger with his wrestling.

He still didn't even make weight...  I think it's hard to make weight excuses for a guy who didn't make weight...  Maybe if he did, sure.  The facts are that he was the favorite, the heavier fighter, he didn't follow the rules, and he still lost.  Karma served up nicely if you ask me.  I was a Chimaev fan when I only knew of his fighting in the ring.  As soon as I learned who he is as a person, I hope he loses every fight he ever takes forever.

I am a die hard Khamzat Chimaev fan and his fighting style, wrestling does need a lot of energy and only Khabib Nurmagomedov had the conditioning to go 5 hard rounds with wrestling and never got tired.

Heard a lot of gym stories from Khamzat Chimaev camp about his elite conditioning when he first joined the Alexander Gustafsson's gym but it all changed once he was diagnosed with COVID, he had severe respiratory infections and immune system failure, he refused to take proper rest as he would jump back and start training which caused further severe issues and he was even misdiagnosed with having cancer as he was spitting blood.

There was a time Khamzat contemplated retirement and I thought he would be yet another talent who would miss out big time just like Zabit Magomedsharipov who retired due to health complications.

Once you have these damages you are not going to get a complete recovery to compete at the highest level and that is why he might be having stamina issues and on top of that he had a portion of his thyroid removed, which makes his recovery process harder and that might be the reason he is struggling to cut weight.

...

We could respond to each other like this forever. Instead, I’m taking a more concrete step. I’m putting up $100 for Sean’s next opponent. It could even be a cockroach. Can you or someone else do this for Sean?

I still respect your opinion. You might support Sean because you are American or because you don’t like Khamzat’s beard. Everyone is free to make their own decision.

I read many comments online on different platforms where people say that this fight was sold and Khamzat took a lot of money. First of all, it makes absolutely zero sense because Khamzat can make tons of money by being a Champion. His hype was built around the fact that he was unbeatable and now this hype is gone, which can permanently affect his career.
Even Connor VS Khabib wasn't sold and even Merab VS Sean O'Malley wasn't sold, so why on earth anyone thinks that they would sell this fight? Some people make no sense when they talk.

I’ve stayed away from conspiracy theories my whole life, because for me, all of this -including the incident at the weigh-in regarding Khamzat- is just the domain of people with low intelligence. But you’re overlooking something here. It’s not that simple. You’re not factoring in the money that was on the line for this fight. That amount was even greater than the revenue Khamzat, Sean, and the UFC made that night. Khamzat was a massive favorite. Sean was the winner that night, but the betting companies made even more money than Sean, Khamzat, and the UFC. Expecting everything to proceed according to Kant’s duty ethics in a situation where that much money is at stake is a bit unrealistic...

By the way, when Movsar won by decision, everyone called it a robbery. When Sean wins, everyone sees it as a success. This attitude is clearly ideological. If we are going to respect a decision, it should apply to all of them. Movsar doesn’t even have a beard.  Grin

I do not have any issue with genuine discussions, we are doing that one way or the other. I am not going to put a $100 bet on Sean without knowing the opponent, why would anyone do that  Roll Eyes.

You are completely wrong, I have nothing against anyone's religion or ethnicity unless they are forcing my community to follow their path and there are strict rule in my country unlike other European countries.

We are discussion about fights and let's stick to that.

But Khamzat is not the only person who had health problems. Others manage to fight, but only Khamzat is so inconsistent, that one time he can easily do 25min fight, sometimes he is dead after first round.

Maybe it is time for Khamzat and others to stop cheating with weight and fight in their natural weight division? Maybe it is time for Khamzat and others to surround themselves with right people? Khamzat issues in last fight: was hard to cut 21kg, had to cut 6kg day before the fight, because during last weeks there were no nutrition coach and team was on duty for cooking. Belt and huge money are on stake, and you cant find a person who will monitor what you eat during camp? That is such a bs. Why not be fair and fight in division that you belong? Have 90-100kg weight daily and fighting in 84kg, is this fair? Why not then go to amateur competition and beat everyone there? (that is a claim for everyone, not only to Khamzat).

If you have health problems, like portion of thyroid removed, and it is hard to prepare for the fight - just quit fighting. Btw like Zabit did. He has problems with hearth. In third and later round his stamina decreases greatly. He took a right decision, he quit professional fighting.

But no, people want have health problems, cheat with weight, then go and show weak performance and after give bunch of excuses. What all of us do when we are sick. Majority stay at home until recovered, and only they go to work. We dont play heroes by being heavily sick, rush to office to do job mediocre, then give excuses that we were sick and could not done it properly.

I am not going to put a $100 bet on Sean

I already knew that, there are 8 billion people like you in the world, you are not alone.

Thank you for remaining courteous throughout the discussion. I know I crossed the line sometimes. :)

By the way, Henry Cejudo, a patriotic American, has also shared his thoughts on the fight:

Quote
Henry Cejudo did not agree with the judges, despite being pleased to see Strickland leave with the victory over an undefeated opponent.

“I thought Khamzat Chimaev actually won this fight. And again, I was going for Strickland. I’m happy for Strickland, that was super cool that he was able to get a victory,” he said while speaking on his Pound 4 Pound show with Kamaru Usman.

The former UFC two-division champion made clear that his own card leaned away from the official outcome.

“I’m gonna have to rewatch this fight but, from what I saw, it could’ve gone 4-1 Chimaev or maybe 3-2 Chimaev,” Cejudo added.

You have quite a mix of choosing favorites and not. For instance Santos and Wellmaker, I agree on that bet, but why Costa over Allen? Because Costa is higher in top and he is on a series of wins? But Allen has more experience. Allen lost only to Evloev and Holloway, and accidentally to Silva, who was on a good series of wins. Gulure - not a single win in UFC, but you have picked him. Even in contenders series he won by split decision, which means he was "." that close to losing. Gulure had finishes only in some local promotions and they were first round mostly. Is he really experienced or did not have enough to gain it? As soon as he left his local promotion he had only decisions and losses in UFC. Why have you chosen him?

With rest pick I agree with you / ignore chick mma so I cant help or comment much Cheesy

If you already noticed, I've already been saying that I like Costa ever since he got in the UFC...  Then there was that one match up where I faded him.  It was against Ige.  But then Costa won and that makes me think that he's a rising fighter and ready to fight somebody on a decline like Allen.  And with Costa being the slight underdog, sign me up.  Wink

But we'll see what's gonna happen.  As for the rest of the picks, I just run with it.  Cheesy Cheesy

Well, it's not that simply but at the same time, there have been many fights, like Merab Dvalishvili VS Sean O'Malley, where absolutely everyone wanted Sean to win. Dana White even exclusively did the UFC event at Sphere. Who won in the end? Dvalishvili, by decision and no one wanted his win.
Khamzat really didn't prefer for the fight well, his weight loss was terrible, it was simply his mistake. Could Khamzat win? Definitely, if he can beat DDP, he can beat Sean too, that's just my opinion.
Betting companies definitely made lots of money but such wins and loses happen, it's normal, there is nothing guaranteed. I don't think that anything was staged here. Even Girona almost won La Liga, so...

Tbh, yesterdays Jake Paul MPV promotions event looked more like good old UFC that current UFC event Cheesy But I am not fully sure that Jake will be able to provide such events on regular basis.

Anyway, I have missed current event, but going to watch overall review only. Are there any fight you recommend me to watch full? I am planning to watch fights with finishes only.
