Is here anyone that wants to say anything about Pereira vs Gane fight? Pereira in his social media is starting a hype that he has lost due to multiple illegal punches and elbows to back of his head and neck. He is ok with jab he has missed, but when he dived for legs, Gane landed a lot of illegal strikes. Again dirty game by Gane. Pereira is asking to cancel Herb Dean from UFC.

He also did the same when he fought Ankalaev the 2nd time. Go watch the fight, and when Ankalaev is down, there are also punches and elbow shots coming from him where he hit the back of his head (some might say that it's on the side, but some aren't). Why complain if you also did the same?

Anyway, I watched some of the clips online on their fight, and there really are some punches where it landed on the back of his head, so his statement is true. At the end of the day, we've heard so many controversies around Herb Dean throughout the years, but he's like the "Scott Foster of UFC" where he's in charged of so many fights already that it came to a point where he will not be punished just because of this missed calls. He's dirty though as we've seen on his last 2 fights.

As for Gane, I guess it's a no-brainer that Aspinall is his next opponent for the title. Both fighters agreed to it already and it's up to Dana White now if when it will happen.

Honestly, I feel like Pereira got knocked very easily with that punch. When he fought Israel Adesanya, he got very easily knocked out and I thought that's because he had to lose a lot of weight and when you do such an extreme cut, your brain also gets dehydrated and its easy to get knocked but now he is in the heavyweight and he didn't have to lose much weight, so I'm really shocked that he got knocked so easily. Seems, he has a terrible chin.

If you get multiple illegal strikes on the back of your head, the referee can stop the fight, allow the opponent to recover from the illegal strikes and if the opponent is not able to recover, they will call off the fight resulting in disqualification or no contest.

I think the issue isn't money, but rather the integrity of the fighters. Imagine if a blow like that landed squarely and that could end Pereira's career, while the referee didn't stop the fight at any point. He had reported it to the UFC, and they responded by asking for a few days to assess the situation.

The discussion of fighter safety is an interesting one.  On one hand, they are in there trying to kill each other so what do you expect...  On the other hand, if this is to be a legitimate sport with superstars, they will need to be protected from career ending injuries.

I feel for Pereira as those strikes didn't look great.  It all happens so fast though, I wouldn't want to be a ref who is literally responsible for another man's life.  They will get criticized either way no matter what they decide.  Tough job.

They need to exchange punches, but in a safe way so they can fight afterwards. I've seen several videos and analyses and I agree that there were at least two or three blows to the back of Pereira's neck and there was no intervention from the referee. It may seem like a small number, but just one is enough to stop the fight. And this only reinforces Gane's reputation for not fighting clean.

I can understand why Alex Pereira is frustrated with the loss. Many videos are popping up claiming there were illegal strikes, which will only rally his fans.

Previously strikes to the back of the head were forbidden, especially striking behind the Mohawk area. However, the unified MMA rules were recently updated, and even I was not aware of that until now. It is now only illegal to strike around the nape of the neck, and accidental strikes that land while a fighter is moving are not considered illegal strikes.

O'Malley got moved to the 2nd contender place, overtaking Umar Nurmagomedov. That's a nice setup for O'Malley to get another shot at the belt.
After losing to Merab twice, Sean bounced back with two wins so giving him the title shot is more than justified. But most of all, he defeated Yan already, in a somewhat controversial decision, so re-running it makes perfect sense.
And I think both Petr and Sean would prefer to fight each other than to fight Merab or Umar. From O'Malley's perspective, Yan is probably the easiest challenge of them 3. And for Petr, it's probably the same + fighting Sean would likely be the most profitable option.

Alex Pereira is still ranked within Lightheavyweight. In the heavyweight, Josh Hokit is now a number 4 contender.

Ankalaev and Ilia do not represent the same fighting style as Islam or previously Khabib. Merab and Khamzat are much closer, but that's still not the same.
Khamzat losing to Stricland was indeed a big shocker, but it's too soon to declare the end of the era of dominance of Dagestani/Chechen style.

I know mma is a sport where anything can happen, but I just can't imagine Islam losing to Garry.
The initial odds for the fight are said to be:

If the odds stay at this level, I will probably place a bet on Islam closer to the event.

I think we need first to get information what has really happened with his face. Does not look like simple bruises and broken nose. Until we get full description of his injury, we cant predict how much time it will be needed for him to recover. Topuria used to tell that he wants to get titles, legacy and retire young. That "young" sounds confusing. He might retire after his loss, or after next fight, or 1-2 years, while he is in top peak form. Not 100% sure if Paddy is going to be next opponent. It will take 6-12 months for Topuria to recover. Paddy already is waiting-recovering half a year after beating from Gaethje. Will Paddy be ready to wait a year to fight Topuria?

This time I am not interested in next event To be honest, I havent even look through the card. And to be even more honest, I am one step into vacation So I am far away from fighting, forum, crypto. 24h and I will be chilling reading forum and internet on a sunny shore All I know about next event, that Kape is the guy who Mokaev had beaf with. Mokaev is the guy who was kicked out from UFC but he is crying to get back. And now Kape is 1 win (imho) away from having a title fight. (if not Kape, then who would Van fight next?)

I also feel like he should just let it go but honestly, I feel like Gane intentionally fights dirty. From the very recent history, first, it was Tom, now it's Pereira. Eye pokes and illegal punches becoming unpunished is not a good idea either to my mind too but I think that Dana White will support Gane in this case, like he supported him against Tom. But honestly, Gane looked much faster, powerful and agile than Pereira. Either way, I really think that Pereira would lose this fight even if Gane's kicks were legal.

This was not the best selection for UFC main event, but we cant always have big names there.
I might watch one or two fights from this event, but I am not excited about any specific fight.

I like the way Ian fights and how he recovers from blows. He's tall and thin, and I don't know how he has so much strength. It will be interesting to see how he fares against someone more robust. My favorite is still Islam, but it's not impossible for Ian to win.

I am the first one to tilt when I see an early stoppage but I have to admit, the job of these refs is not easy. It's so easy to say that was an early stoppage or say the ref allowed the right to continue for way too long. I usually see more people complaining about early stoppage than people who get mad at late stoppage, that's simply because we have bets on the fights and hoped the ref allowed so we still had a chance.

But in reality, the job of the ref is also to ensure the fighter's safety and well-being. Once the fighter takes any excess damage, it can be life-threatening, especially when it's coming from a monster like Gane.
