Soon, though, that could change. In May, Austin began piloting a project to give the homeless a portable, digital identity, hosted on blockchain technology. It’s funded by a $100,000 grant to test the idea, and in the running for a $5 million program grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Mayor’s Challenge. For those whose lives are characterized by impermanence, the city hopes to provide a digital footprint in a system that will exist online—one that can’t be deleted, lost, or stolen. One that the individuals can control themselves, and that can be used by homelessness service workers to provide better, more informed aid.

U.S. cities, even counting and identifying this population can be a major challenge. That’s where a handful of new digital tools come into play, allowing cities to help the homeless control their information, enabling faster and more accurate counts of people on the street, and mapping where they are to ensure they have access to services. Efforts being piloted in Austin, Spokane, Houston, and elsewhere aim to equip local governments with the knowledge they need to address the challenges of homelessness in their communities.

You should probably add more projects to help the homeless like giving them homes or probably jobs or you already have that in mind because for me, free food is noble but it can't be a permanent solution to homelessness if you know what I'm saying. Or you could probably use more man power by recruiting the homeless themselves so they at the least don't feel that bad getting free food because they are helping others. Hopefully I can donate to you this year but the money's tight for me too.

I must say you really have a big heart for the people who needs kindness the most. Thank you for helping those people in need using your crypto funds. I really admire people like you and I plan to do the same when the time comes. Nowadays, it's really hard to get by especially that we are in the middle of pandemic. I noticed that you started the project last 2019 and decided to continue this June 6, 2021 based on the edit of your post. I respect your compassion to the less fortunates and the courage to walk down the streets handling pizza to ease the hunger of the homeless. We all know that it is still risky to go outside and we should limit ourselves as much as possible because it isn't guaranteed that we will not contact the covid-19 virus, yet you chose to help one of the most vulnerables during this crisis. I hope you'll get more donations and help more people most especially given our situation now. Please always be safe. May your funds start to continually grow. Good job, man!

almost everyone really wants to help the homeless and also the difficult people around us, with a helping hand from some benefactors it will more or less help the lives of those who are lacking in economic terms, if I get good results in the cryto world then I will also help ease their burden in living a life that is so difficult especially in a pandemic like this, I think everyone wants to do that

Such an admirable behavior, in terms of the current social situation, whether it is in real life or on the Internet, I will try my best. Maybe the little help we give will come to them. this is amazing.

This is really meaningful. I hope we can help people in need as much as we can in our daily lives, I regretted a little bit. I went out with my friend a few days ago and met an old man asking us to buy him something to eat, but our first reaction was to walk away. I still regret it in retrospect. If I can meet someone in need again , I will definitely help them the first time.

As a crypto enthusiast, I see that many people involved in cryptocurrency can be so caring and kind. I am proud that helping others is mutual, and we can also be happy, but I want to know when they are not wealthy, and how will they use cryptocurrency and how to receive it?

I handed out another 10 pizzas today and updated the first post. There are a lot of homeless people on the highway too (surprisingly)

I'm periodically getting emails saying that random posts of mine are deleted in this thread. Can anyone explain to me what the criteria of that is? It seems like a false positive from a really bad automated system.

This is a coincidence. I helped an old man yesterday. I saw this post today. I hope there will be such volunteers in my place to help the homeless. I usually do volunteer work on weekends. I really like the sense of accomplishment that helps others get, and hope that there are more and more caring people in the world. This topic makes me feel that the world is full of beauty.

Wow, it's been 2 year of you updating this thread, all I can say is how big of a commitment you are making for yourself, this is actually quite inspirational for the whole community, I might do this someday as well, I also skimmed through your hyperlinks, I wish I could do the same as well for my country, being generous is quite rewarding and having to commit like that is actually huge!

Wow this is very inspirational, I have only heard about something this, never really saw it. But this here is bigger than I imagined.
It's also good to see Btc and the people in it's community play a major part in seeing the homeless being fed, clothed and sheltered.
Thank you to everyone volunteering.

Way to go mate. I know many humanitarian organizations that have started this way. Truth be told, I like the intention behind it. Also being that you have got some indirect experience with what being homeless is like. This is like you giving back and doing your bit to make the world a much better place. I guess in the next decade you might even expand your reach to those impoverished folks in other nations. Well done mate, keep up the good work.

we can say that everyone has a desire to help each other, if one day I have an income from bitcoin I will also do the same thing to help the homeless who really need a helping hand from people who want to lighten their burden.and I am also very willing to help the underprivileged people around me, because we can say that it is an obligation for everyone to help.others, especially for the underprivileged, especially the homeless.
I think that using crypto as a means to crowd source and distribute food is one of the greatest use cases for it. I've updated the first post again with several new outings this week. Enjoy!
