the transaction is real, but nothing to worry about.

it is only Mark Karpeles cashing out.

Ten Birrion BitCoins Oh my a god! Nice level dude.

I never thought my life could be. Anything but catastrophe. But suddenly I begin to see. A "BIT" of good luck for me. Cause I've got a golden ticket!

If they weren't trying impossibly large transactions, would they be able to succeed?

If you don't have the funds is also an invalid transaction. You can only do it with a 51% attack.

Not even 100% would suffice. No (real) nodes would accept blocks with invalid transactions.

Other then a bug on blockchain.info i not yet seen a real explanation for this, if it is not a bug on blockchain.info then bitcoin nodes must have relayed this malicious transaction onto the network, why it was relayed on the network by the nodes but not included in a block beats me.

Maybe the node that sent this transaction was one hop away from the blockchain.info node and their custom node does not follow bitcoin protocol and displayed and relayed this fraudulent transaction when it was supose to ban the node that sent this transaction to it ?

Maybe it was fed directly to blockchain.info and to no other nodes. Maybe blockchain.info just displayed it momentarily and did not actually relay it either.

I would also assume that inclusion in a block has a lot more checks than a relay: no one likes to mine orphan blocks or end on the wrong side of a fork.

if this 10 Billion BTC transaction was paired with a 51% attack  by the same people
could this invalid transaction be made valid and screw up the blockchain ledgers?

No, with a 51% attack you can only double spend bitcoins you have legitimately.

Correct. You can't produce insane amounts of coins.

Any miner including such transactions in their own blocks would be starting their own fork. No one else will accept their blocks.

That is an invalid transaction.  All the miners ignore it.  You can make bogus transactions an broadcast them.  Bloockchain.info will show them at first and then stop showing them.  They will never be included in a block because it has a negative fee.

Here is one I saw a while ago created by gmaxwell:

I see, someone try to act smart and use a modded client to do a transaction with negative fees, but they can't outsmart the bitcoin developers that obviously make the transaction invalid.
All is safe, no panic required.
