I kind of pity those unaware of their ancient copy-pastas before working their way up only to be greeted with a ban.
Of course many will reiterate plagiarism is still plagiarism, but maybe some clear warning before posting would suffice.

It's normal to happen, the bot already reported most of the plagiarism. From now on I don't think people will try to copy/paste risking their accounts to be banned as they cannot hide it anymore. I wonder if the bot is checking the Off-topic as well? There was the place where many of the sold accounts were farmed. |

I wonder if the bot is checking the Off-topic as well? There was the place where many of the sold accounts were farmed. Maybe let's give one month period from the start of this ban wave, we will not gonna see big number of members banned for the popular violation. |

Many will cry woeful if the bot get into off-topic-section, personally, will encourage whosoever that control the bot to extend it to that section for another interesting drama between two giants  . Farmed accounts are doom at this time, except by Gods grace, just pity those Higher rank members who got their account booted out from shit post/plagiarism. Many of these accounts where booted for financial reasons, because of my post count remains 8(eight) to be completed, to have my cut-share thereby ended up copy paste and forget to clean up the mess (hackers with vulnerability that are unable to clean their mess before exit)  DOOM!!. |

Due to data dumps from LoyceV, we don't have ranks of Autobans one-week before the banwave, we don't have data to compare average daily Autoban rates of each rank between before and after period. Let's make comparison based on Ratios, sorted by ranks. Formula- Ratio = Autoban rate of After the banwave period / Autoban rate of Before the banwave period.
However, I guess the ratios of lower ranks, like Brand new, newbie, Junior member or member are likely higher than ratios of higher ranks. Mainly because lower-ranked users are mostly shitposters or farm accounts, and they usually do plagiarisms to save time. If the plagiabot runs with all-rank targets, I believe the ratio for lower ranked users will surely be higher than the ratio of higher ranked users.
Maybe things will become clearer if LoyceV can spend a little time to rerun data analysis for one-week period before banwave.[/list] |

I well and truly don't get the mind set of anyone who'd copy and paste. It likely takes far, far longer to find something to copy vaguely relevant to the thread you're defacing than write something yourself. The only thing that makes sense is that all these people are Stephen Hawking stylee and interact on this forum by blowing through a pipe or blinking in which case it's less effort than typing. |

They're not looking for anything relevant. They just take something from earlier in the same thread or from another thread on a similar subject (takes a little bit of time to find such a thread but it's a one-time effort for a farm of dozens or hundreds of accounts). And it's likely done by a bot in some cases. |

But as most bounty and signature campaigns on the forum require at least some posts in English, it may have been worth the time and effort to search for something relevant and good looking (grammar-wise), instead of composing their own posts or using Google Translate (and running the risk of being kicked out) |

I had a quick scan through the banned lists, and I don't recognise any of them, not even in the most merited or recognised lists. Are they all posters on the trading and announcement boards? Or maybe it is just that they don't make memorable posts.

Yes I'm curious If you read the first few posts in this thread it is evident that many people know which member is responsible for this, but it is quite understandable that no one will publish it publicly. Given the number of forum users who are banned due to this user tool, it is somewhat understandable that he /she wants to remain anonymous for now. The only way to satisfy your curiosity is to ask someone who has that information via PM. |
