Hi all --

I just joined bitcointalk to learn from folks about the economics of bitcoin.

Are they any noteworthy discussions on cryptoeconomics?

I will be digging through myself; just thought I'd used the collective brain of the forum to speed up my search!

Thanks! Looking forward to discussing.

There is no best thread though there are many great threads discussing interesting topics which deserve your attention in my opinion. Examples:

I can't say which one is the best thread in this board. But I will recommend you this user, Hydrogen. He usually posted lots of good topics here and there's a lot of replies and arguments and debates around some of his posts.

Dude, I suggest you to read some books on economics. Because frankly speaking most of the users on this section know nothing about economics and keep saying the absolute bullshit. No one can say how economics work and everybody thinks that angry villains in the governments are just printing the money to steal our savings. And all of them think that tomorrow we gonna use the deflationary currency.

There many interesting topics in the Economics board, (I like economy basically and sorry I'm not "an expert", just looking to debate with folks here.) the problem is people taking part in the topics trying to look like someone with MBA in finance while they just got their first saving account last week. We all have different background, culture, and lifestyle, it's interesting to share opinions but @Beerwizzard sums up pretty well

It is best for you to start by knowing how this forum works and thus will facilitate the search for you.
There is no specific list. I may see that the topic is useful and you see that it has zero value.
I advise you to explore this site------> https://www.lopp.net/bitcoin-information.html, it contains a lot of information for each novice, many articles and not limited to this forum.
If you have a question, take it easy and we will help you.

You could read a lot of good topics in different forums here.
I have also learned through reading and exploring things about crypto through this forum. You could choose a topic depending on what you would want to learn. You could learn about trading and investing here, strategies, gambling tips and a lot more.

This is a great thread about Bitcoin's economic design from the earliest days: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583

This one is also a good read: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2500

The posts from Satoshi and Hal Finney are particularly interesting.

Here's a couple more good ones:

everybody thinks that angry villains in the governments are just printing the money to steal our savings. And all of them think that tomorrow we gonna use the deflationary currency.

Expansion of the monetary base now exceeds growth GDP or population growth for over a decade and isnt likely to reverse; the new money first appears as new debt in favour of fiscal budgets.   I wouldnt say stealing but use of power to favour your own agenda sure and the entire country is to blame for voting in those in politics who promise to overspend and continue doing so.   So we steal from ourselves perhaps, many think debt is free money so long as we never repay it only borrow more but that is the real nonsense and danger

Deflationary currency would be most recently gold as its rate of production is below global population or GDP growth which means prices can fall in nominal terms as the money is possibly worth more then the price of a stable good in demand but also freely available.    Theres alot of good things about having a stable currency but it does not favour the use of large amounts of debt and budgets based on that debt, we are not likely to have this scenario again without a quantum change to attitude of almost the entire economy, in power, business and people also.

Its very unlikely even without dollar that the replacement for world trade would be a solid or hard currency or anything close to deflationary.   Whats most likely is all the other alternatives which are also FIAT, also partly backed by debt but hopefully more trade then presently true.   SDR is one currency based around the IMF that could be some replacement for dollar reserve but its only a combination of the alternate national standards and still very much FIAT and inflationary.    Not all think crypto will take over, I think it just rises in usage and thats enough to be bullish really

It depends on what topics you want to search because every thread here give a different topic, so you need to have the right keyword to search, and I won't say which one was the best thread.
But if you cannot find what you search, then Google will be your best place to get the answer, and I am sure you will get many websites for the references.
We need to search on many websites and don't depend on one website only because that will not give additional knowledge to us and we cannot get what we want.

yes, and that's what I have been doing up to now. in this forum I learned to interact with a topic, thereby increasing knowledge. if you want to find referrals that are more detailed, then Google becomes the solution

Hi all --

I just joined bitcointalk to learn from folks about the economics of bitcoin.

Are they any noteworthy discussions on cryptoeconomics?
I might say YES because btctalk is one of my main source of news about the currrent happenings in crypto world. I usually go here in the Economics section if I want to know btc's price status and its "cause and effect" to our society, if I want to get updated from different adoptions implemented and lastly the FUDs spread by famous opposers like Warren Buffet (for me it's fun to watch their statements falling into pieces as btc remains strong Grin).

But if you are really looking for geek discussions then I suggest you to go to Technical Discussion or Meta. I'm sure you will gain more knowledge there. Good luck Smiley.

If you want to dig some good knowledge about the forum you can look on meta section, if you want to have a knowledge on how trading works you can look on the trading thread, if you want to know about different alts you can relay on the alternative cryptocurrencies because in that you can look in the didderent section tuckling up the different coins discussion.

This is a good question and it's made me realise there are very, very few threads about it, at least any worth reading.

If we're honest as it stands the only economics that currently apply are - BUBBLE. Very few are using it for anything other than speculation so I suppose they haven't gotten any deeper into thinking how it would work in proper economic terms.

The best threads about bitcoin economics are not in the Economy sub-forum.They are in the Trading Discussion and the Speculation sub forums. There's no such thins as "bitcoin economics".It's all just market economy with technical and fundamental analysis.

I don't think the OP was talking about "Bitcoin/fiat speculation." I think he's specifically about cryptoeconomics. It's an important distinction to make. The former is just a study of price and is about technical and fundamental analysis, which can apply to any asset in the world. The latter is a study of the actual economic forces and game theory dictated by a cryptocurrency network's design. I.e. why and how a cryptocurrency network functions, due to various inputs like supply/demand dynamics, fee dynamics, consensus incentives (POW vs. POS vs. xyz), etc.

And after so many words you still could not say how the export of the country would work with a deflationary currency. All those stuff about the magical currency that would replace current fiat money looks like a prophecy rather than a worthy economical theory. Such currencies will never overtake fiat money at all levels: governments wouldn't make BTC their main currency and the majority of people would hardly spend most of their money in crypto.

i would suggest you to read the threads that are pinned in the Economics board.
You can also find interesting topics in the Bitcoin Discussion board where many members with extensive knowledge of blockchain technology are discussing and exchanging ideas there.
