I particularly like this topic, to be honest, i think some how bitcointalk is gradually turning to be the dumping ground for fake and scam projects, the fighting of scam project should start from the moment those project are about to create an Ann here in forum, there should be some certain criteria set by forum admins which will act as a process of vetting this project owners before they can post an Ann,

Because there are no such criteria it is very easy for scam project to post Ann and lure the innocent to fall victims, the forum is very vulnerable in this aspect, and it is very necessary for something to be done to curtail inflow of scam project in the forum, here is among the biggest if not the biggest btc community around, so there is need for proper redress.

Manual approval before an ANN thread could be posted would probably do more harm than good. Let the community share their inputs and research about the project. If someone posted about a fake team it usually spread like wild fire same goes with plagiarized whitepaper.

Fighting scams should start from us and report it to the DT members so they can tag the thread start

Unfortunately, everyone has different interests in crypto, I mean that our goals are different from them very different. if someone has the same goal why there should be a sell order and for investors I think it will be better if it comes naturally

I agree that we should against the scam project, but stopping ICO is not the answer, everyone got the right to create ICO and make a perfect coin based on their criteria, and we dont have any right to stop developers or investors to stop contribute in crypto, we need to find a better solution rather than banning the project

A word unite is very easy to say but is very difficult to do as we have different goals here therefore uniting just to stop those scam projects is a good idea for me. But I am not sure whether other will care about this also as what I have said each and everyone of us have different goals why we are here.

Other will not care about those scam projects as long as they benefit from it and other will not care about those projects as long as they are not part of the investors that were scammed. The only people that will surely unite to your idea are those people who have been scammed and want a clean crypto projects to support on. But you cannot convince all, I am pretty sure of it.

Community first needs to understand Bitcointalk is worth search for to get known the newer ICO's and what their white paper plans are.
Aknowledge the owner if truly does what he wants for the ICO's future and if he's capable of.
If you see something fishy just turn your backs onto it and move into next on.

I think there are still a lot of ICOs out there that are not scam so we should be very careful in choosing those scam projects. If we will be united with the rest of the team then hopefully we will come up with reducing those scam projects and the ones to be remain are those thr legit ones.

Anyone can launch a ICO and that includes scammers, but they will not get away with that, if they have to go through a regulated exchange to list their IEO. <It is not bullet proof, but it is less anonymous with all the KYC/AML requirements that are needed.>

not all countries are ready to admit the obvious things that blockchain technology will be everywhere. Scam projects are recognized as a scam only after they scam their users.
How can you tell which project is scam and which one is legit from the beginning.
Yeah,I know that ICOs are shit and we should not buy ICO tokens,but you can't tell people what to do with their own money.

I am not telling people what to buy or not with their own money but after huge crash we learned lesson that lots of scam ico projects raised money from crypto space and disappeared. That should not happen atleast fir time being we have to stop ico investments. That’s what my concern .

Badbitcoin.com I dint know before , I will also contribute by listing some of the scam project I witnessed in past as well I would like to contribute for future shady project . Thanks for information . I wanted to keep thread alive by getting this kind of information.

After lots of frustration , lots of loss , almost loosing hope now market is recovering . As a crypto community well wisher I am requesting Bitcointalk community as well as other crypto community to fight against Scam projects . So that people should not loose belief on Crypto .

Why i am saying this because ?? . We have seen lots of Scam projects ICO's in past in that lots of investors hard earned money gone . It was became exactly like .COM bubble lots of investors lost their money . These scammers took away this money from crypto space .

1) Now as a community we should not encourage ICO'S for time being . As if now there is enough projects funded in crypto space for next 100 years
2) We need investors who believe in new era of currency . Also needs to attract NEW investors . For that we have to keep Crypto Space Clean .
3) Crypto projects are necessary but we are having enough project for a time being . Community  has to understand this . Find a good project already in a place . Support that kind of projects . Which is giving real value to crypto space . Instead of investing in Scam project and getting into trap .

Finally we should keep away our Greedy mentality for sometime we should work together for long term vision of crypto currency .

I think that the most effective method for combating fraud in ICO projects will be government regulation of ICO activities at the place of their registration. When the relevant government agencies verify the documents of each member of the ICO team, establish certain rules for collecting and deducting funds, then fraud is unlikely to be possible at all.

When everything is online nowadays and most ICO projects having a fake team with cheap UK Company registration it will be hard job for the government to step their game against these fake and scammy ICO's.

If you wan't regulated ICO's projects choose those project that is based in the US.

This forum has been giving lots of support to destroy project scam, you must seen on reputation board and you will find a thousand of scam project has been reported. I won't agree if you say bitcointalk community never give an affect to make investor meet a loss, also there are many threads which can use as a guidelines for investing on ICO project. This problem just came from investor itself, they are lazy to know the character legit project and scam project and also they are lazy to read some threads related to it, whilst this forum has provided it.

It would be hard for a normal participants to send reports to the authority, we want to fight but we dont have enough power to do it, first how many of the ICO are putting their own identity on their website if they want to scam people. Scam projects are also a scam people they dont put their own identity to it.

Yes, we should stop being greedy to make a safe and clean crypto place for the future. People are greedy so that they want to earn huge money only by investing in ICO projects after seeing a lot of scams! We need ICO projects but that doesn't mean we need to invest almost in every ICO! Personally, I invest only 2 or 3 ICOs in a year! If we stop supporting maximum ICO projects then scam will be very less in the crypto space! You can't sure about a scam project easily. Recently Joytoken and Repux both scam, but they looked very perfect crypto projects about one year ago! So, I think we need to move on to the IEO and STO than ICO. And I hope this thing may help to defend the scammers!

I already urge all my friends to stop investing in ICO because it's totally messed up, we do not need more duplicate projects and our scam busters have already caught so many of these scams ICO, let us just concentrate on what we already have now, there are a lot of new coins already in the market it's saturated.
