In my opinion, the condition of the top 100 coins from altcoin will follow the fluctuations in the price of bitcoin. If the price of bitcoin is getting better then the possibility of this top 100 coin to get better is also greater. I am an altcoin lover. Altcoin's existence can survive in the market and has a good price depending on our role as altcoin lovers. If we love and play actively, the altcoin will last a long time in the market and have a better future.

There lot of alts to buy when market settle and you need to be wary of btc movement as the surge of btc is the controller in the market and need to be respect cos it will be disadvantage for holding alts and btc still pumping which will bring down the value of the alts in btc , it is always good to enter alts when btc is doing correction or in dump mode.

Looks like you answer yourself, anything among the top 100 coins on coinmarketcap could be a good option, is smart to invest in the coins with biggest market capitalization, because since the coin has a big market then is hard for it to die.

But if you want specific recommendation you should hold some LTC, ETH and BCH

i agree just pick in top 10 the risk is lower but still look if ot have potential following many coin is really difficult. once you miss something like swap you can lose all your coin.

if investing in 1 coin in my opinion is too risky it is better to indeed put money on a few coins at least the risk of losing a lot of money is more controlled

even your altcoin lover there a possiblity that you can be wrong. there a lot you need to know before you can fully trust some altcoin. i follow some good altcoin before i see the potential on it. the team and developer is good the purpose have big potential but in the end the team is now gone. its better to just hold small amount and dont trust to much.

This will not save from losses when the trend changes to fall. It's better to use altcoins for speculation, and to fix profits in Bitcoin. It's the best strategy  for next year or even two

Since you are looking for a coin that will give you profit by the time bitcoin surges, i would suggest you invest in bitcoin itself. Although, investing in bitcoin to obtain substantial amount of profit will require putting in so much. Meanwhile, if you want to go the other way round, you might be taking some risk, but you can reduce it by investing in the top five altcoins by rank.

indeed Bitcoin is the best coin but Altcoin is also good and he can be profitable besides that he is easy to get because the price is relatively low, but you have to be careful because Altcoin has a big risk.
