Facebook plans to launch 'GlobalCoin' currency in 2020

They are just promoting the idea right now not the product. There is no detail about globalcoin at all, hell even the name could be changed eventually, however there is just one thing for certain, facebook is starting a crypto currency of their own. That information is legit and it will happen unless they cancel it, I mean that is still possible but aside from that they will definitely have a crypto currency.

How it will be used, what it will be used for, how many supply total, what the starting price will be all haven't been decided yet, as we get more information about it we will be able to give more opinions and healthier opinions however as long as we do not have any details all we say will be just assumptions. I hate facebook and how they run the company so I will say bad things but we still need to wait and see.

I think it would  be a great springboard in using facebook to promote something like cryptocurrency. As I can see cryptocurrency became known because of many social medias and one example here is facebook. With that "globalcoin" will be known with the use of facebook.

This will be a giant step for the social media creator, Mark Zuckerburg as he sees the potential of cryptocurrency to really be a global currency. Having Facebook as a leverage to launch its own currency just goes to show how the creator believed in crypto. The Facebook "global currency" the news is referring too will be only used in Facebook's social platform and might extend to its fellow applications such as messenger, WhatsApps, and Instagram. Gone are the days that Facebook is only known as a social media platform as it is now being used as some kind of marketplace where they buy and sell things never did FB as of the present had earned from these people who use their platform to earn for themselves that is why they made Project Libra to have a piece from that pie. Why won't Facebook just use another cryptocurrency, or even Bitcoin? It looks like Facebook is trying to disrupt Bitcoin by teaming up with banks and governments. Facebook and banks trying to disrupt Bitcoin that is trying to disrupt the banks. With Bitcoin not being supported by the banking industry and large governments, Facebook is trying to get the traditional parties on their side.

It's great that big companies are interested in cryptocurrencies, but I think that the coin that they want to run on Facebook has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Zcash, Monero, etc. If this coin will be a stablecoin and its price will be pegged, for example, to the dollar, then this coin will not have any growth prospects for the price and it is not suitable for investing and trading. Especially if it will be used only on the Facebook platform, then these restrictions will make it less attractive than, for example, BTC, LTC, ETH, which are widely used.

Indeed, information from facebook is still very vague and there is not too much authentication here, so I also think that this is just a rumor because as you say, facebook is a big company, their stock is enough for people to invest, they don't need to launch their coin when this is always a legal issue, crypto is not something the government accepts. Plus, even if they want to launch this project, it doesn't give them too much benefit because people who use bitcoin and crypto don't want to participate in this project when everyone's guess about the coin of facebook is a project that has a stable value and is not very profitable

The social media platform planned by Dan Larimer of EOS seem to have a good usecase for their VOICE token, this Facebook Globalcoin does have  different usecase but its a stablecoin as been said. By 2020, the social media we shall be using ain't just facebook. I don’t think there is even any point comparing these coins to Bitcoin because I am sure they are not in to create something similar to BTC, they already know that if they go that line, they will fail woefully by not getting any attention from crypto users and if it’s good for investment, people will only see the coin as an investment coin and dump it once they get their profit.

What I see face book creating is just a token that will never be used globally but internally, so I don’t see much issue here, they already have their market target before planning to propose such system and their market target are still within their system already.

It's business as usual, Mark knows how to turned everything in his favors, we don't need to expect that he will Support crypto as it is but create it's own versions but will ride with the popularity of this industry,  like what you have said, Mark will make sure that the traditional institutions will back him up for further success of this new project inside crypto currency.

I won't really like to make use of the Facebook coin, but the only reason I might likely invest in it is because they are huge platform and will have lots of big investors for sure. So that means I will do my best to be one of the early birds when the price is still cheap and I will then hodl it for a long time to see how far it can go. But there is to an extent it will reach and I might then exchange it for another cryptocurrency like bitcoin if possible or maybe fiat, because I'm very sure that they are also going to be using their crypto to monitor people's activities online as well, just like they do as usual.

Do you think this coin will become a really global coin in the world ?
I think the global cryptocurrency coin will be only bitcoin. Everyone using bitcoin in cryptocurrency.
It won't become a global coin just because facebook launch this coin in crypto.

While I agree with some of your points, there is one where you are wrong, you say that a stable coin is not suitable for trading or investing but tether is currently in the 12 spot in market cap and just a few months ago it was in the top 10, if facebook develops a stable coin I will not be surprised if their coin makes it to the top 50 in a relatively short amount of time, and this is easy to guess since there are several stable coins in the top 50 and a facebook stable coin will generate more trust with the average investor than most coins in the market.
