The mining youtuber who had made a large cryptonews website giving daily uptodate information on the activities going on in the market has been forced to shutdown their website due to the recent google core update.

https://www.ccn.com/ccn-is-shutting-down-after-googles-june-2019-core-update

This is shocking news to me as I followed the guy when he was just starting out with his mining farm in a warehouse and moved into a mega farm based in georgia.

This is really a sad news because I also read the website and it really has improved me in cryptocurrency.
The website has provided adequate and in time news about the happenings about cryptocurrency and it's one website I can give a 75% and above about there news. Hope the shutdown doesn't pull through because this would affect so many crypto news lovers

A devastating news for all of us who really likes the website for bringing us the updates and on time news about crypto.
But there is nothing that we could do about it let's just move on and use other crypto news website to keep us updated there are still other sites that would provide us the same service.

There's a domino effect, same result for other crypto related websites. Search traffic has drop for most of them and as the article says, many other sites (not crypto related) has experienced the same thing. But it's sad to see that the ending of their article is such an expression of their goodbye.  Undecided
Google's algo sure hit, affect and changed a lot for these popular websites.

Sad to hear a crypto news site getting shut down.

But isn't it giving up so easily? Other websites are also complaining that their crawl rate has also gone down. It may mean that it is not a targeted shutdown for crypto-related websites. They just need to make the necessary changes to make their crawls rates move up again. If they really love what they are doing, they should at least give everything a try before giving up.

maybe write some factually sourced material next time. not the speculative 'too da moon' stuff and the blanket stories that are just copy and pastes from other media.

if these media sites actually not only used the quote of other media, but actually found the original source and investigated the legitimacy. then people would actually enjoy reading stories from them. and as such not become reliant on google to drag in new readers by googles search engine.

as for the 'blame google' the stats graph show an up shoot to 1.2 where 1.2 only hit once.. and then retreated back down to the 0.6 average. yet ccn wants to cry that it dropped to 0.6 as if 1.2 was the norm

"As data from SEO analyzer Sistrix shows, our visibility on Google dropped from 1.2 to less than 0.6. You might say we ought not to face any issues since we’ve been at those levels and lower, in the past. What you need to realize is that we have added more people to the team, both full-timers and part-timers. We do not want to downsize the team, we do not want to break the morale of the team. So yes, this change by Google is directly having a significant impact on us as a small independent news organization that has never received any outside funding. The money we make made on advertisements was directly funneled back into growing the team"
P.S
"funneled" ..funnelled

in short. they had one good day in june, employed some people then realised their stats went back to normal averages.
so instead of blaming spending income to 'add more people'.. 'grow the team' they want to blame google
so forget media.. this is a tip for business. if you cant fund an employee for a year, you shouldn't be hiring.
offering a full time job, but not guaranteeing their income is bad business practice

anyways
take a look how long it sat at 1.2 for. then look at the whole year and look at the average

pro tips:
improve content
include valid sources
exclude speculative stories
increase content that matters

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

That shows the reality of media today's. Without ads revenue, they're nothing. This is sad but Journalism depends on advertisements
In the case of CCN I am surprised they give up so quickly, I even wonder if it's not a buzz attempt. Google algorithms are dynamics and not fixed. Who would shut down a site that still makes $.

Rumors are emerging that CCN might be acquired by Scandinavian company Stankevicius MGM. Apparently they bought another dying crypto site last year, too. I'm not sure how reliable these rumors are, though. None of the larger media sites are reporting this yet.

CCN was a neutral when it came to perspective on providing news. But I didn't liked that article they have posted.
By what they said many of the sites have been affected and the way they have taken it personally is wrong.
They don't want to reduce the number of team members but they want to shut down. What's the logic on that? Isn't that a reduction to zero?

^ Yes agreed with the above posts especially with franky1s since they did have copy and paste source type material on their site. But it still does show how google advertising supports even these over exposed sites keep afloat. Embarrassed

So they got bought out. It would be interesting if this rumor did turn out to true. Undecided
Because they are reporting on their own websites demise. So it is not giving the complete facts of the situation and only telling what they want to display to the public. Which is one sided.

Here's one idea: CCN announced they were shutting down, then Stankevicius approached them with M&A talks after seeing the headlines. If CCN really knew they were getting bought out, I'm sure they wouldn't have publicly thrown in the towel like that.

Even if Stankevicius is serious, the sale may not happen. They may be trying to be buy them out for pennies.

It started in June 2013 and ended in June 2019. What a shame! they had only Google Adsense as their primary revenue. They had ample time to try other alternatives. They never tried it or thought about it.

What kind of media website is CCN, that bows down in just 10 days without even trying to survive this battle? Blaming Google won't help them in their next endeavor. There are other media websites that have been hit hard, they are not shutting down, they know they cannot because they have loyal followers. Which I think CCN did not have.

What in the @#$% did I just read? I use to like google a few years back but not anymore.

I don't understand exactly what's going and noone else does either. There is a very strange core update. Even none crypto sites were affected.
Now CNN has had its Google ADs deactivated basically. CNN moved to HVY.com  (The link is near the bottom of the article will give you more info)

According to the to graph the poster a few post below me posted, it looks like this is similar to last year.

Who cares Google sucks, same with Microsoft, centralized search browser and OS, That sell your data.

CCN should start up on steem it or dlive or something.

some CCN articles were complete horse shit most of the time just talking about price. Take a look at their page now, 8/9 articles on the front page about price. You will not be missed CCN.

This is the reason for being too depended on a service from private company. Google has become a trademark for internet and anything google don't want's could be easily wiped out of internet if google wants. We should be able to diverge towards other services like duckduck go and other privacy focused search site and indexing sites to counter the monopoly of google.

Don't all of you guys be disappointed. I just checked their visibility index and find out they are actually recovering in a good amount of users.

just keep contributing them your support and as of google they really tried not to lose big fishes from their community so maybe they tried their best to fix their brain rank algorithm this time.

I am sad because some good people are going to loose their jobs. But not at all sad because CCN is not getting enough Google traffic! If everything remains the same, no new faces will ever come up in the world of business! Google core update is a part of the continious improvement plan that is so very much required to refresh the contents and their sources! CCN was one of the former leaders in crypto media segment and now someone else will come up. That's the nature of the world and that's how we manage changes!

I personally don't see any reason to shout back to Google just because few websites are getting less number of hits! The reason is simple, either you cope up with changes or you become extinct! That's life!

that is the eventuality that awaits all the low quality content news sites that keep publishing click bait articles. they only gain a huge amount of traffic for a short period of time before people catch up on their click baity-ness and stop visiting such websites.
it is still one of the biggest click bait sites out there though so it is a bit surprising to see the drama they are starting.

Most websites that are affected were on the news (category). Basically based on the article Google is more likely focusing on the SEO because that is how they will distribute their ads.

It is not surprising at all that most of the affected sites are crypto related as Google does not fully support it. Crypto advertisers cannot simply put their ads as it may not pass on google's verification therefore it will cause a pure domino effect to all crypto related sites who lacks crypto related ads which actually makes since.

Agree most of the news sites right now are having the same articles. The problem with CCN right now is they rely their team's salary based on the ad revenues and by that being said it is really not surprising if they would quit that easily if they can no longer pay their staffs.
