Don't compare Blockchain and cryptocurrencies, these are absolutely different areas! While blockchain is a technology, bitcoin is just one of its use cases.

blockchain will focus on areas that require fast payments and low fees. It is possible that businesses in different countries want to cooperate and exchange products, they will use blockchaind technology to make money transfer faster with a much cheaper fee than bank deposit or visa .
That's the maximum use of blockchain and in the future, most large businesses have to use the blockchain.

There are lots, almost of the financial institutions can be a means for blockchain use, all industries that requires trading, storing value and securities. I am thinking of dividend for farmlands, if I ever made a coin, It would be used in link with crops and other edible plants, I am a nature lover and the people with in so I want to give them the best technology as possible as I could, but sad to say don;t have the funds and team to do so.

Although this area have been touched by block chain, but in my opinion, further explorations and improvements particularly in the way it is advertised-- HEALTHCARE. IT will be a good idea, because people are always concerned with health, healthcare and hospitals are constant. block chain will be a help especially hospital bills take a bulk of budget and cryptocurrency should have area in this.

i haven't seen many compelling use cases outside of using cryptocurrencies as programmable money, especially censorship-resistant money. bitcoin is obviously the prime example of that.

blockchains could also be useful for decentralized digital asset trading, but that isn't exactly a new use case. it's just trustlessly transferring value back and forth, essentially what bitcoin does.

A potential use for Blockchain technology, is that it can be used for storing intellectual property. Authors can store an encrypted document on a distributed blockchain registry, representing a digital certificate of authenticity. Smart databases can be used for all that too, yet people are so tangled up in the blockchain hype that they believe it will change industries and potentially even the whole world. The most ironic part is that databases exist for decades, but now blockchain has become a thing people start worrying about efficiency and whatnot.... It was never really a problem to begin with. 

Better IT management is what most industries lack. Cost saving is the main reason IT isn't paid much attention to while it has been one of the most important aspects to focus on in the last decade or two.

Why would you bother unless there's something in it for the person providing the actual platform you're hammering?

If it's between interlinked and likeminded entities then there are and always have been shared databases for that. 

It's exactly the same as intranet vs internet. Masses of companies reckoned they could create their own internet that was 'better' then reality dawned on them as they were roundly ignored by people running towards the real deal.

agree on this, if you are referring to public blockchain implementation
but a company can create a private blockchain for its internal use without financial incentive
it would serve as shared database to minimize data discrepancies or corruption by employees in the company

Blockchain can be used in almost every field of our lives because we are in an era where information is very important, hence its management, security, dissemination and storage must be a topmost priority. Blockchain technology is the best way to store information and data under good protection yet transparent. This feature is made possible by the digital ledger of the Blockchain technology.

As others mentioned, blockchain doesn't equal cryptocurrency, and the former can be implemented in various ways (and some of them are already our reality). The article avikz linked in the post has a great list of various applications. A lot of them are in the area of finances one way or another. I'd just like to add some use cases that the article doesn't mention. Blockchain voting is one of them, and there have already been experiments with people voting for things this way. Another thing is the weather forecasting, but I don't know much about it and whether it's been already implemented. But the list is limited by our imagination, not by blockchain technology.

It can be used but will it be? We don't know. Blockchain in itself is the evolved form of data if you ask me, you can use it for other stuff as well but as a database that is p2p and will never be deleted even if thousands of servers get burnt in a fire is the epitome of the level we have come in technology.

A whole nations citizens information regarding their work, their taxes, their medical info, their personal family numbers (married, single, children, no children etc etc), and many more things can be stored in just one blockchain forever and can be shared to hundreds of different locations and even allowed citizens to have limited access to just carry it would mean nobody could ever hack it and change anything since its blockchain and decentralized but also keeps it alive no matter what happens for centuries.

I don’t think blockchain as a whole is even for financial purpose alone, blockchain has been used for so many purposes aside the financial aspect of it, and I think the aspect of it enabling a decentralized system is not limited to fiancés alone but other parts of a project too.

we could also see how people have used it to create gambling applications, Sites and other wide ranges of application, and Bitcoin is just an application burn out of it too called cryptocurrency which is being used for digital payments, so blockchain technology can be used by large firms to record transactions and for any other purpose such developer thinks it could be useful for.

It's only decentralized if assets themselves are decentralized, otherwise it just like stablecoins - a company holds the actual assets and releases tokens, but everyone is at complete mercy of said company.
This is the problem with all these "putting X on blockchain" ideas - they always end up with intermediaries, and what's the point of blockchain if there are intermediaries?

Other ideas that people generally parrot are also questionable - no one has shown any detailed proof how exactly blockchains are better than traditional databses and data sharing schemes, people somehow think that blockchain magically makes everything secure and decentralized.
