A bull run will need institutional investment either in BTC, ETH, etc. or in something directly related to crypto currencies. That would suggest directing capital away from traditional markets and into safe assets like gold. If you watch the news there's a lot coming, the formal institutionalisation of crypto, and by extension alt coins, is definitely coming.

We've seen huge announcements from the likes of JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, NYSE, Blackrock and of course BAKKT. The involvement of these groups in the space is a game changer. JP Morgan's blockchain-based Interbank Information Network (IIN) is set to allow settlements in Q3 2019. Futures trading in BAKKT is meant to be up in Q4 2019. Fidelity International are launching a crypto trading service Q3 2019. E*Trade Financial are 'getting ready' to provide trading on their platform (reported in May), if we've not seen it yet let's assume Q4 2019. TD Ameritrade have already beta tested BTC and LTC on their platform, so again, let's assume that goes live Q4 2019.

New regulation is on the way too. FATF will report and implementation is expected Q4 2019. Russia's DFA legislation should be passing any time now and will clarify crypto trading regulation, so expect it to be enforced by Q4 2019. These changes will have a big impact.

Why so much investment in blockchain / crypto? Partly because it's a new market where the big guns can make a ton of money, but also the general economic outlook. General sentiment is economic growth in the US, EU and UK will drop a few points in 2020. Crypt will give the institutional investors something to profit from and establish their presence and market dominance.

That said, a larger economic downturn is being muted as occurring in the next 12-24 months, i.e., earliest start would be end of Q2 2020. Is that why there's a rush to get up and running now? It's no secret that a downturn benefits the organisations that are well prepared. That means the above need to be operational by Q4 this year, trading like demons in 2020 to ride the storm while making profits. Hype from this will affect crypto markets and if a downturn is expected starting in late 2020, it will suppress traditional markets (except maybe precious metals which are being bought at record levels while US Debt is being dumped).

I don't think we are ever going to see 2017 again, I'm all out of altcoin and have been all in BTC since the $6k mark.  So yeah this "altcoin bull season" is never coming because in 2017 95% of coins were shitcoins and they were pumped to hell regardless.  I know because I made a lot of money on them and dumped them all about 15% of off all time highs.  I have a list of about 5-10 coins that I made a ton on.  That will never happen again because people have wised up.

What may come is bull season for specific good coins with use cases but compared to 2017 there are going to be much fewer and you will need to be much better at selecting them.  Your best bet is to keep 75%+ in BTC then IF you are really smart, select a few other coins.  Having more than 50% of your portfolio in alts is just stupid.

I sold BTC at 16k, and got back in at 6k.  Even if I had not sold it i would have still held it because I honestly believed it was going back up.  If I held litecoin, XRP etc.. right now I'd be trading it for BTC immediately.  Even if it does go up it's never going to see the gains BTC has.  People are far too greedy.

The bull and bear run, depends on the buyers and sellers actions. When demand is higher than supply in the market, the price(s) appreciations tremendously but when supply is higher than demand the price(s) depreciates.  Continuous appreciation in price leads to bull run while continuous depreciation of price leads to bear run.

of course the rise and fall of the altcoin price depends on the supply and demand that occurs. we cannot predict exactly when altcoin can go up or down, because crypto is volatile where prices can change significantly from time to time without us noticing.

Regarding altcoin today it is very difficult to predict something.  This complexity is aggravated from the moment when Bitcoin improved its price by almost 4 times first in 2019, but altcoin did not follow it.  apparently, indeed, society pays the most attention only to those coins that have the most prospects in the future.

The timeline is when Bitcoin started to show signs of going up or moving from bear trend to bull run, the majority of the altcoins depend on their bull run to Bitcoin's performance, we saw that and it was proven in the chart, Bitcoin's bull run is also altcoins' bull run.

I agree, there is no right method that can predict when the altcoin season will come. Everything depends on market conditions and investor confidence, if investor confidence improves, transactions in the market will increase and I think it will affect the altcoin price. In the current conditions, it's better to accumulate good altcoins at low prices

In bear matket, there is also a lot of altcoin growth. Not only wait until the bull runs, will the altcoin grow. What you need is to invest in the right altcoin and at the right time

I am agree, with current condition it is still difficult to expect the altseason coming soon. Market conditions are still uncertain and I think that by strengthening of bitcoin prices and the dominance of bitcoin in market rising, I think the altseason can take several months, hopely in Q4 we can see altseason

Everyone now is focused on bitcoin. With the recent pump, many people speculates it will hit $20k again soon. Some even says new ATH but if you have some spare money to spend, it's really good to buy altcoins now because when it's bull season happens the profit might be greater than trading bitcoin now..

I agree, cryptocurrency investors are now focusing on bitcoin and this causes the price of bitcoin to rise by more than 300% from the beginning of the year. I think altcoin price will go up as long as the altcoin we hold is an altcoin with a good product. Better at the current bear market, we buy good altcoins at low prices
