What we have to do when an account get compromised??
Shall we only tag it or create a flag? If we create a flag want type of flag is suitable??

Maybe we need a new flag only for hacked/lost accounts??
Thoughts?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Always type 1 when it's just a warning and the user didn't break a contract with you.

I believe you could do both when there is enough evidence that the user was hacked.

Good point by Lafu bellow. Flags can't be removed, and while they can be withdrew, they will still be there.

I would say first to tagg the Accounts so you see it earlyer in there Feedback history as an Flag !
Also you can remove the Negativ Feedback if the Account is recovered and back to the real owner .
Flags cant be removed !

I think the best way right now is to follow the necessary steps on the Support for hacked/lost accounts but considering there are cases like this "Decoded" comprimised that's email will not be used for the recovery. The better is to make a post with your alt account in regards to the issue.

I'll choose to tag it rather than making a new flag but if necessary I'll choose number 1 as well.

As long as the account gets more red than green trust, it gets a Newbie/guest warning when in opens a topic on certain boards, right?
That should be enough.

If accounts are proven to be compromised shouldn't they be reported to the admins and have that account locked until the rightful owner can sign a message and prove ownership? Tagging an account is only a preventive measure and depending on the reason why it got hacked might not even effect the malicious person behind it like we would hope. Removing their access from the account probably would.

I don't think so. I thought it was grandfathered in so that accounts with more red than green trust pre-dating the introduction of the flag system gained a newbie warning flag, but I don't think it applies to trust gained after the flag system was introduced. Give me two minutes and I'll find the post from theymos.

Edit: Seems like neither of us was quite right.

If the number of pre-flags-system negative trust ratings is greater than the number of all positive trust ratings, a warning banner is shown for guests & low-login-time newbies.

So negatively rating an account now will contribute nothing towards displaying a flag, but positively rating an account now could override old negatives and therefore remove a flag.

That wouldn't be necessary but flag for short term, maybe.
Most of the time, the owner create alt account and makes a thread in meta about the incident and explains briefly about everything.
Sometimes with inactive accounts, there's no one to report these incidents, so there's no way to know unless someone's paying close attention to that particular account carefully which doesn't happen for ignorant Accounts. But the forum does have an inactivity indicator, so this can be taken into consideration as well.

What's could be done is that DT1 or DT2 or maybe are given special privileges to flag accounts with strange behaviour recently based on their post and after a thorough personal investigation and should be visible to everyone that trust those DT members.

If the Flag idea is brought to reality, then i suggest making 2 flags.
Yellow for Uncertain regarding hacked account
Red for sure hacked account.
And if x number of DT members approve it then the tag is visible to everyone.

And if flag idea isn't brought to life then, Everything's already going smooth already based on the current system.
