If they ban it, the value potentially could increase.

What if they ban it but people in Iceland use it anyway? Is that possible and would that make is scarce? What if they don't ban it but strongly discourage it (make it difficult to use etc). Different scenarios seem possible.

Auroracoin is all talk but no substance. How are they supposedly going to airdrop coins to every single citizen? The manpower and coordination that would be involved in such an endeavor would be massive, and impossible without government intervention. Judging by that article, it would seem more likely that AUR gets banned by Iceland than the airdrop actually happening.

Not only is this impossible without government intervention, this requires each and every citizen of the country to be able to understand and use cryptos. Now,that's impossible by any standard. On top of that, the primary use of the value of the AUR would be to first and foremost convert it into local currency. Doing that would make it's value drop a LOT! And the "experiment" would be a failure and cryptos in general will end up with a bad name as being unusable, confusing and even fraudulent in that they they cannot offer a store of value.

Believe me, if the coins are worth 1000 usd ++ and they have job issues, loads of people will "understand" crypto currencies all of a sudden. It's a matter of will to be able to get your wallet, open an account in an exchange and cash out. All in all, it's not that complicated.

Admittedly, I look at a ban as only symbolic at the most. The way to police that sort of law just isn't worth the logistical effort.

Speaking of which, I still don't see the logistics of this "airdrop" working without either a significant company being involved or government intervention occurring. If the government bans it, then we're looking at the only feasible way of distributing all of these coins through some sort of major company that can coordinate all of the efforts that will be needed for this.

Either way, I see the price continuing on its downward trend. I still expect a price increase a few days before the 25th, but after that, the downward trend will accelerate.

more genius here, everyone,  this is why you are all here to hear from "Ed Dude" that money can't be issued to people it has to be earned.

Noble prize for economics, that's what I'm nominating El Dude for.
