It would have been a much better contest if it was PM XI vs Pak.

They are just piling runs here, 476/7 and counting but I don't understand why comms for the most part keep pointing out that it's a tough pitch to bat on. I know Pak's bowling looked pretty toothless so far but the pitch is not tough at all, especially for the home team. There must be some tired legs in the Pakistani camp but hope they cross at least 300 runs in their inning.

The pitch is not an issue, but may turn bad by the end of the second day. Aamer Jamal has already taken 4 wickets in just 19 over and I feel another one is coming to him shortly. Already the youngster is looking motivated after taking 4 wickets and a fifer would be great for his stats. Already the scoreboard is looking good for the Australian side and if they are able to add another 30 runs then it won't be easy for the Pakistani batters.

Lol! You're right. They ended up posting a huge target of around 487 runs though they could have surpassed 500 if it wasn't for Jamal ripping into the tail-enders. He performed admirably though he needs to stop leaking so many runs.

Warner and Marsh were the highlights. Pakistan could lose the first test by an innings if they don't bat smartly.

Given the fact that they sent a very inexperienced squad, I would say that Pakistan did well to restrict Australia to 346/5 in the first day. Now they are 416/6, as Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey added 90 valuable runs for the 6th wicket partnership. Now Mitchell Starc has come out to join Marsh, and there is a good chance that Australia may get to a total of 500 plus. In that case, avoiding follow on will be difficult for Pakistan. Australia has a full strength attack, which includes Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood.   

Australia concluded there innings at 487 runs. Pakistani bowlers have done a decent job, apart from picking the wicket of Warner very late. As usual they were sloppy in field, missed catches and stumping chances. All these blunders allowed Australia to score 487 runs. Now it will be interesting to see how Pakistan respond to this total of 487. There are high expectations from Babar Azam and I hope Pakistan has the ability to score 300 or more runs.

Thanks to Jamal's performance, Pakistan managed to wrap up Australia's innings shortly after lunch. Mitchell Marsh falling just 10 runs short of a well-deserved hundred, however Australia finished their innings at 487 runs. Okay so he is a debutant and that is a big achievement from him playing his first international test match. I looked further into his bio and found out that he is an all rounder. Not sure about the information that I got from ESPN Cricinfo. If he is a all rounder then he is a good find by PCB. Need to see him bat to find out how good he is in scoring runs.

Till now everything is going well for Pakistan as a partnership is brewing between the opening pair. They should continue batting in the same manner till the end of today.

Although he is a new player and stilm taken 6 wickets while Shaheen Afridi is an old and experienced player but still he took only one wicket. Aamer Jamal is such a player. If he is given a chance in future.  So it will shine as a star for Pakistan team.

 The batting condition of the Pakistan team at the moment is in trouble because if they continue to play like this it is very difficult for them to score 487 runs. Imam-ul-Haq is still in the batting but the run rate is very low. one big difference between both team is, Australia players was so good in scoring runs. Pakistan run rate is very low as compared to Australia.

Australia managed to score a great score on the first day in their first test match where 487 runs I think is too much. A few cashes and stumping misses saw Australia put up a huge score today, only for a poor performance from the Australian bowlers. Now it is to be seen whether the Pakistan team will be able to complete the target of 487 runs, although the Australian team has already lost two wickets to meet the target. Scored 132 runs in 53 overs for the loss of 2 wickets though none of the players put together a very good pair due to which none reached a century. At the moment, however, Australia still need to collect 355 runs to meet the target, but if Pakistan can keep playing then this target is definitely achievable. If Babar Azam can do something good for the team today then surely the match can successfully reach the good target and give Australia a good lead by completing the target.

I am impressed with Khurram Shahzad, yesterday he bowled quite beautifully and he was the only disciplined guy in the Pakistani bowling lineup. Didn't watch his spell today so don't know how he reacted to the 2nd new ball.

Bowling in Australia is not an easy task for the subcontinent bowlers, most of the time bowlers from our part of the world get too excited with the bouncy wickets. Extra bounce and fast paced pitch give them the illusion of being fast (Similar to SENA spinners in India) so they try extra hard and in doing so they leak runs like a club cricketer, some do learn the art if they are given a long rope but for the new guys only time can tell. 

I've noticed this with Afridi, if batsmen start attacking him he goes into his shell and looks quite average and it happens in every format. Having said that today he bowled a good spell with the 2nd new ball but he's nowhere close to what he was 2 years back. Naseem is injured so no point talking about him but he could've been effective here because he take care of his line n length. Regarding Haris, i won't say much as i don't consider him a Test bowler.

Haris Rauf understands his body condition and if he focuses on his financial security by prioritizing T-20, then there is nothing wrong with it.

He has virtually no FC experience, The last time he played a test match on his debut series he gave up after a couple of spells and had to leave the ground so he clearly can't ball more than 10 overs in a test match. Pakistani fans should understand this and management should leave the poor guy alone, On top of that FFS they must stop shaming him and they need to come up with a better solution. Pakistan is lucky that he's not in the team otherwise they could have been 1 bowler short for the next 4 days.

Yes, their strike rate was too low. But, hey, this is called test cricket. When you are under pressure and see that opponent bowling nicely, you have to respect the ball and leave it. You have to stay on the wicket as long as you can. It was only the 2nd day. So, I won't blame the openers because of the low strike rate. Even, I would say that was perfect test show from the openers.

It's not like ODI crickets. Batters will come to the crease and they will score 30 from 45 balls and get back to the dressing room. But in test match, someone has to play more than three hundred balls and try to stay on the crease as long as they can.
