This is yet another irrelevant series between two teams at the bottom of the full member group. Kusal Mendis is the only quality batsmen now in the Lankan squad and although their spinners are world class (such as Maheesh Theekshana), they are no more competitive against the pig-3 nations. Now coming to Zimbabwe, for the last decade or so they are losing matches regularly to stronger associate nations like Namibia and Netherlands. So this series is between two of the teams who are on the decline.

I mean let's get real, Sri Lanka was going to win that anyday. It was 12/2 for Zimbabwe. Sri Lanka's bowling is much stronger than their batting after the addition of some young bowlers to their team. But Asalanka's brilliant century went in vain as the match did not receive any result. Sri Lanka's effort was washed away by the rain.

The result was as expected. Sri Lanka would dominate the rest of the match and their biggest enemy will be rain.

Sri Lanka set a good target against Zimbabwe. I thought they might be restricted to 250 runs but they didn't. in the match if Asalanka not lost his wicket by run out, the total score would have been around 300. By his good contribution Sri Lanka were able to target such a big score today. But rain brought good news for the Zimbabwean team otherwise it would have been difficult for them to win this match. They survived a certain defeat. As they lost two wickets after batting just 4 overs, their journey would not have been too long. The next two matches are now crucial for both the teams. Charith Asalanka's innings of 101 runs was enough for MOM (Man of the Match) for today's match but the rain ended Charith Asalanka's Man of the Match chances. Sri Lanka's chances of victory in today's match have also ended. Although there is a possibility of rain in Colombo but if the second ODI match is abandoned by rain then how will the series be.
However, in this match if Zimbabwe's innings could have played above 20 overs before the rain then surely Sri Lanka would have won the equation by DLS method but it was declared abandoned due to rain after only 4 overs.

Let's be honest Zimbabwean team defeat were confirmed from start later after sirilankan team score 270+ around and they lose 2 quick wickets right before 5th over. Zimbabwe bowling attack, apart from Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava doesn't have much international experience. The absence of Brad Evans is hurting them. Faraz Akram made his debut yesterday for Zimbabwe and it was a rare occasion when two Pakistani-born players were representing Zimbabweans (the other one being Sikandar Raza). Maybe this is the way to go for Zimbabwe. If the natives are not interested in cricket, then they should attract the Asian players.

Yesterday was the first ODI match of Zimbabwe & Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka played well but not too, they lost 9 wickets to Zimbabwe, and at this time, Sri Lanka cricket is over, and this same situation went to Pakistan in 2015, and 2016, where Pakistan team can't perform, Pakistan got 9th ranking in ICC rankings and no one Pakistan player was in the top 10 rankings and before so years Pakistan won T20 World Cup on 2009 by losing Sri Lanka, and on that time, Sri Lankan team was good and we had a fear with them.

Pakistan team can't perform in matches even Pakistan's old coach Waqar Younas said that this team time was over but then Babar Azam came and he debuted against Zimbabwe and he made a century in his debut match so Pakistan's hopes gained again and Pakistan won the champion trophy but Sri Lanka didn't have any good player so I think that can't come back.

Srilanka World cup performance was so bad. Low rank team than SL like Afghanistan and Bangladesh defeated SL in World cup. Now once again yesterday match proved that SL retrained their form but it is not over yet and they have to show performance like yesterday through out the series.

India U19 vs South Africa U19

One more match was finished yesterday of Tri-Nation Under-19s Tournament in South Africa competition and this match was played in between India U19 sqaud against South Africa U19 sqaud. This match was very entertaining and challenging for both squads especially for India U19 sqaud because at end of their batting inning just 8 deliveries remaining when they emerged victory from South Africa squad. The defending target of South Africa squad was tough 256 scored collected by South Africa squad. In the beginning of India U19 batting inning was very bad, Rudra Patel collected only 1 scores and other one Innesh Mahajan wiped out at 0 score but next these batters Musheer Khan, Uday Saharan and Priyanshu Moliya performance was very impressive. Uday Saharan batter completed full century and made 112 scores when he got out. Priyanshu Moliya collected 76 scores and Musheer Khan batter also near mid century and he collected 41 scores.
