If Marco Jansen had batted a little longer in the first ODI match, South Africa would have had a chance of winning. I would praise South Africa's lower order batsmen more than the Indian bowlers in the last first ODI match.
While South Africa's top order batsmen failed, the lower order batsmen enabled them to take the match to 372 runs. If Corbin Bosch had gotten a chance to bat for two more overs, I think South Africa would have won.

Throughout the series, Indian bowlers have struggled to get the South African lower order batsmen out. Players such as Senuran Muthusamy, Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch have scored tons of runs so far in this series. And this has been a huge boost for the South Africans. Also, Indian spinners (especially Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar) have been disappointing till now in this series.

The reason why South Africa lost was due to poor batting from the top-3 (Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton and Quinton de Kock). These three faced a combined total of 18 balls and made only 7 runs. And remember that this happened in a match where the required run rate was close to 7 runs per over. Matthew Breetzke and Tony de Zorzi then stabilized the innings and they scored almost a run a ball. But the drag during initial overs meant that RRR went beyond 8 runs per over by this time. Then the blitzkrieg from Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch happened, but by then it was near impossible for South Africa to win the match.

At first, the Sri Lankan team was playing quite well, but due to the negligence of their players in the last over,they faced failure in the match.
