Choosing to bat first was a huge advantage, with superb batting outing leaving side completely on the back foot from the start. Once the pressure on the Sri Lankan bowlers started to take its toll on scoreboard, defending huge total target of 300 plus was easy, in my opinion. The hosts had displayed amazing batting skill in previous match but steady effort of bowlers with important wickets falling from middle order put together perfect lesson. Bangladesh moved a step closer to criminalising match-fixing and spot-fixing after the Gambling Prevention Bill, 2026, was tabled in Parliament, with the proposed legislation prescribing up to seven years' imprisonment and a fine of Tk 1 crore for offenders.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed tabled the bill in Parliament on June 24 as part of efforts to introduce stricter measures against online gambling, betting, match-fixing and spot-fixing.

The proposed legislation seeks to replace the 1867 Public Gambling Act, with all offences under the new law classified as cognisable, non-bailable and non-compoundable. It categorises gambling and fixing-related offences into 24 categories and prescribes 14 different types of punishment depending on the nature of the offence.
