After T20I shame, India came back with bang, winning 1st ODI by 6 wickets to take early lead in the series.
Joe Root 76 runs and Liam Dawson 61 runs took them to the 258 run mark all out. Axar Patel was the best of India bowlers with 4/62.
Indian effort struggled right from the start. The score was tight at 160/4 but Axar Patel 57 runs and Washington Sundar 52 runs put on an unbroken 102 run partnership to win easily in 45.2 overs.
Axar Patel was a deserving Player of the Match, he is 6th Indian to score a half century and pick 4 wickets in the same ODI, which includes Hardik Pandya. Also importantly, England first ODI defeat at Edgbaston since 2014.

Spinners are not doing their jobs properly. Just couple of years back they used to spin choke in middle overs but today not much help from them, this won't help in a longer run. Kuldeep (team can't afford him sitting out)and axar ( replacement of jaddu) need to find their with the ball.

8 batters ( including all rounders) + 3 main bowlers combination is not working from bowling's POV. Also they need to decide if washi/axar are bowling allrounder or batting.

From bowling quota, it looks like washi is batting allrounder and axar is bowling allrounder.

Bhai GG's strategy cannot be questioned after this win. He again proved that all-rounders are more needed than main bowlers. Bapu took 4 wickets in this game, whereas main bowlers got 2 or 1 wickets. All-rounder Sundar scored his half-century, whereas Iyer only got 32 runs on the scoreboard. This proves GG's strategy is correct: the Indian team needs more all-rounders than main bowlers or batters.

T20I squad consisted of young and inconsistent players such as Samson, Varma and Sooryavanshi, while the ODI squad comprised of experienced players such as Rohit, Virat and Jasprit. And IMO, that is the main reason behind the comfortable win yesterday. India's chances of a win increase manifold when Bumrah is in the playing XI. Previously the main weakness used to be Mohammed Siraj. The selectors have replaced him with Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar, and this combination worked for India yesterday. It is a series of 3 ODIs, and India is already ahead by 1-0.

Having said that, poms were 80/6 and then went to score 258 so one frontline bowler is desperately needed but think now kuldeep will sit out again.

They barely survive on the mercy of all-rounders but batters didn't do their job or it should have been an easy game. It should not be the criterion to have 2 all rounders than one wicket-taking spinner. That is one of the reasons why they get away with 6 down and end up scoring 250 runs or it could have ended up as a 150 run chase on the best case.

The difference was clear in yesterday's game. India did an impressive job; but some people are still feeling like India needed one extra wicket-taking bowler, but because England was in deep trouble, they did a good fightback after having 80 for 6. If they had one more bowler, there is no doubt England could have ended their inning for 150 to 160.

Still, India have done a good job and managed a good win. This ODI series is going to be good for them, yet selection issues are going to create trouble for them because they have enough players who are eligible for spots on international level, but selectors prefer mixing of experience and aggressive approach.

The difference was clear in yesterday's game. India did an impressive job; but some people are still feeling like India needed one extra wicket-taking bowler, but because England was in deep trouble, they did a good fightback after having 80 for 6. If they had one more bowler, there is no doubt England could have ended their inning for 150 to 160.

Occasionally, lower order players show a great performance when the top order batting lineup collapses. It was an unexpected performance from Liam Dawson in the 1st ODI match. There would have been a lot of questions about Indian bowlers if they couldn't win the match. It is good for them that they won the match easily. They had wicket taker bowlers (Jasprit Bumrah) in the squad. He only managed to pick one wicket in the match. I think India will use the combination of experienced and inexperienced bowlers in the whole ODI series

True but what would be bowling combination for wc? They are keen on batdeep strategy where even no8 chipping in with the bat.

Considering batdeep strategy, i think it should be like going with 3 proper bowlers ( jassi+ Arshdeep/ others + kuldeep), then hardik as seam all rounder and Dube coming into as part timer and last spinner would be axar batting at number 8.

If team management want washi then he needs to complete for number 5/6 and not 7/8 because every batter is useless when they don't get to many balls, unless you are finisher. If by any chance he can finish his 10 overs quota then it should be toss up between him and axar.

This match is being played between India and England, in which both the teams have been given 50 overs so that they can set a big target for themselves. In this, the England team played their innings first and set a target of 258 for their opponent, which all the players have shown their hard work in which two or three players have made very good scores, due to which they have been able to make their good target. They could have made an even better score, but their team was out a few overs ago, due to which they could only make that much score. If they were not playing their innings and showing their good performance, they could have added more runs to it, but they could not make that much. After that, now the Indian team is playing its innings, in which they have scored 169 runs so far. The English team has also lost 4 wickets so far and they have still stopped India from scoring well. If the Indian team remains strong, then this remaining score can also be achieved.  Because the balls are high and the score is low, even if they take a single, it can be completed very comfortably. Now it remains to be seen whether the England team can get them out as much as possible or not.

Early Indian team bowled very well, they restricted the English batsmen not to score up to 260 runs, that helps the Indian batsmen to chase down the target without feeling the pressure or any difficulties but still in the next few games, India might face trouble because their game play style is not still as good as it should be, still there are many things or many portions in which they needed to improve in good way.

The most experienced players of the squad, Rohit and Kohli, could not bat well. Rohit scored only 11 runs and Kohli scored only 5 runs. But Shubman Gill batted brilliantly. He was able to score 80 runs in 75 balls. After 38 overs, India scored 212 runs and lost just 4 wickets. India need only 47 runs to win.

Maybe the legends are old now or it is the perfect time for both to take the retirement from this last one day format too. Both of them did not get the farewell in the test cricket and at the same time it has been two years ago, when they both took their retirement from 20 overs cricket. Rohit Sharma gone on 11 runs and Virat Kohli gone on just 5 runs, this is something we don't expect from them, even though India won the match.

When they are trying to fit in washi then they are sacrificing the KL's potential, who is already played by the management to play in all the spots but atleast number 5 is the better position for him. Washington doesn't really fit in playing XI, maybe he can be in the bench for the replacement of Axar in case of injury or else the combination should be 3 pacers, with Kuldeep and Axar along with Kungfu Pandaya (hopefully).

The Indian team has won this match by six wickets and 28 balls and the opponent in this match is England. If we look at it, the performance of India Women and England Women is going very well. Meanwhile, India has won this first ODI match in the India Men's team. The England team set a target of 258 in this match, in which almost all their players were dismissed in 47 overs and five balls. This proves that the Indian bowlers are also looking quite active, who dismissed all the England players before the end of the overs. When they started chasing this target, only four of their players were dismissed in this 50-over match and they scored 262 runs and won this match. Virat Kohli was dismissed for only five runs in this match, but Shubman Gill laid a wonderful foundation by scoring 80 runs, which made it easy for them to chase this target.

I think IND Cricket team have legends and that is reason they  were able to win this match and opponent team was in pressure. Bumrah came Back and he applied pressure from the start of the match and England cricket team gave only 1 wicket to him but other players took wickets and Bumrah saved 20 runs of the team and if ordinary player could be part of the team then there were more chances of win of England team because they made 20 to 25 runs short in this match and if there could be a target of 280 or 285 then result could be different and credit goes to Bumrah who came back and gave strength to his team and before that we saw situation of the team when they lose back to back 6 matches and also lose the series against Ireland.

It was a very good effort and hard work from India and it has become a blessing and a victory for those who were very disappoint with India defeat. In the first match of this series India play very well and strongly, although England was playing at full strength and could have victory this match too, but they could not play like they had beaten India in those 4 matches. There was not much difference in strength between India and England because both played for the same overs and if we look at India efforts and achievements, India was not playing like they used to play. But I think England can win this series. If the next match does not go in India favor England will victory this series too and if that happen it will be a very bad defeat for India and a very embarrassing failure for them. To avoid this India will have to play the second match with a lot of effort and strength so that they can take revenge from England.

West Indies Vs New Zealand
As you know, guys, the ODI series between New Zealand and West Indies has started, and in the first match, the Black Caps were defeated, giving the West Indies team a one match victory. Both teams are in their struggling phase, West Indies lost a match to Sri Lanka in a series against them, and two matches were abandoned, while the New Zealand team also lost matches to the Bangladesh team. Both teams have a legacy of nightmares against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, having lost matches to them. In this series, the West Indies have the upper hand, winning one match, and in tomorrow's match, we will see who will win, either New Zealand takes revenge, or the West Indies continue their streak.

This match is being played between West Indies and New Zealand, in which only one team is batting right now, in which the West Indies team have scored 115 runs according to the conditions so far, which is more than the overs left and they have played half overs, in which they have not scored that much. They are not playing like they used to in the first catch, keeping themselves strong. Along with this, their 6 wickets have fallen. They should keep their batting better because they still have half overs to play, so it is very important for them to play well. All the players they have played so far have not scored that good. Only one player who was playing well has also been out after scoring a few runs. This proves that the bowling of the New Zealand team is as good as it is, due to which they are trying hard to stop the score of their opponent team. This can also prove to be better for them because the way they are playing their target  They are not letting it get too much. They can achieve their target in a few overs. Now it remains to be seen whether the West Indies team comes back in the remaining overs or not and how much target they can make.

In the previous game, WI performance was quite better and challenging because they won that game but in the second game they played with a very low target and they lost that game. If their players had played in the remaining overs which were 14 overs, their target could have been even better and they could have winning it. Nz pressure bowling in this game became a winning with an easy target. Nz players played with a lot of struggle in the second game and scored good runs and also took 5 wickets in the winning. If WI won the third game, their performance will put pressure on Nz  and this is better than hearing. It was not expected that Wz will play such a game but still they are playing well and how much better they will play will be known by the winning of the third game.

I am expecting a competitive series as Bumrah is back in the team which will help their struggling bowling lineup.

I find it funny that so much hate is directed towards these two. It was under Virat and Rohit that India started winning matches abroad frequently (especially in SENA nations). And just one bad match, and everyone is baying for their blood. What about players such as Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma who fails in 90% of their matches? And one of the main reasons why India won was due to the presence of Jasprit Bumrah. He picked up only one wicket, but the pressure he created indirectly helped Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar to strike at regular intervals.
