whether the services provided are only in the form cryptocurrencies to fiat exchange.
because in my country the post office has a variety of services. from sending packages, sending money, and paying bills.
if this service were included I think the cryptocurrency in Croatia would be very much alive.

That's a good sign! It is great that the state organization uses bitcoins, because on the post office in my country can not even pay with a credit card. I think the time will come very soon when it will be possible to use bitcoins anywhere in the world. And then we can say that the future has come!

I wonder how a tourist from France will prove their tax office that he is sell €500 worth of BTC in Croatia for their local currency. Is there any legal advice for sellers?
He will get a receipt in the post office :-) As simple as that.

I did not think that someone will not get receipt in post office after selling crypto, but this receipt will be in Croatian, and money is also in local currency. Is this receipt something that will be accepted by the tax authorities as an official document? I believe that everyone will need to translate the document into their own language before they can use it for tax purposes.

Good question.
I believe that you will have to check with professional accountant in your country about this.
I had experience that I had to report to my tax office about income I received through Paypal.
I simple showed them copy of my Bank statement and it was enough for them.
Each Receipt from Croatian post office is official document, with unique transaction number so it should be enough for your tax office, I believe.

Lots of important news. The post office is receiving it. Good news for us. I am very happy to see the news. All I want is to turn it on and in all respects. Like the post office, the banking sector should also be opened.

This is the impact of Bitcoin's popularity, so they understand by developing Bitcoin, will definitely give you a profit. This is a real impact that happens and like this that is required in many other countries. Although I also don't know how Bitcoin works to be used in the post office.

Other Stories from my Bitcoin dynasty are not yet completely illegal, so development such as used media payments are also prohibited.

It's very simple really, you can't use your bitcoin to pay for postal services, to send letters, pay bills etc.
You can use their crypto exchange service, exchange your btc to local currency- kuna, and after that you can pay for their other services.

Depends on where you are from. If you are from the EU, then you can submit Croatian language receipts to your tax authority since Croatian is one of official languages of the EU.

maybe I believe but don't fully trust the things you post because I only understand a little about your post, maybe I think it's a good idea if the Croatian post office can accept offers from cryptocurrency exchanges so that with that offer the post office will be visited to exchange between coins for the shipping costs of their goods.

This is another positive news for cryptocurrency, congratulations to the people of Croatia your post office to accept the exchange 5 coin
crypto BTC, ETH, XRP, XLM and EOS to become fiat. This is truly an extraordinary step, now cryptocurrencyhas begun to be widely accepted.
I really envy seeing developments in croatia, in the country where I live for converting cryptocurrency to fiat must be done online. I hope that
my country's post office can following the post office steps croatia. Thanks for the info, this really opened my horizons.

This is another milestone for bitcoin. This means that the government in Croatia have already seen the potential of bitcoin and even allow the post office to exchange crypto to cash. I am sure the bitcoin community in croatia is already enjoying. I am hoping to see other countries to follow the steps taken by croatia. If this will be copied by other countries the bitcoin mainstreaming will be faster than ever.  I hope the government here in the Philippines including the post office will also use cryptocurrency in daily transactions like the Croatian government did.

It's pleasing to see that regardless of people saying Bitcoin is decreasing in popularity, we see this kind of news that proves Bitcoin still receives attention from the public. Their interest proves that they had seen the potential of cryptocurrencies or the blockchain itself in day-to-day living. Even if it's only for trading to local currency, they must have known by now that Bitcoin really has a value in it and they're starting to catch up. Few years from now and crypto would be widely used from businesses to other non-government institutions.

Wow, that's purely amazing. This is what we need. Smiley I'm honestly surprised to see institutions actually accepting cryptocurrencies. I'm wondering what their plan is - maybe they're trying to become friendly with us so we don't turn against them?

I might be wrong - is the Hrvatska Posta owned by the Croatian government or is it a private post? Also, why are they only accepting to BUY cryptocurrency from us? Why don't they also sell? Do they require an ID to finish the transaction, considering we need to pay taxes for our cryptocurrency profits? I have a lot of questions actually, if somebody could reply it'd be awesome.. Next time I'm visiting Croatia I have to check this out Smiley

This is a piece of good news for the whole community, considering that it is a state-owned post office is offering an exchange of various cryptocurrency to their local fiats, it just shows that the government really is accepting crypto.
is the Hrvatska Posta owned by the Croatian government or is it a private post?
It is government-owned

They are only buying cryptocurrency of course to profit, they will set a lower buying price compared to the market for them to generate profit since this is a state-owned office there's a huge chance that verification will be required for each transaction.

I thought about something different: allowing the citizens to sell their crypto so the government can stack up coins for some kind of artificial centralization:

1. Only buy BTC from citizens
2. Stack up a lot of coins
3. Start allowing your citizens to buy BTC from you too, but change policy: ID REQUIRED.
4. Create yourself a history of every BTC buyer and seller

I remember Amazon had patented a way to find out who's who on the BTC blockchain explorer a few years ago. Who knows, it might already be activated and running...

A milestone is still a milestone. This is a good news considering that the countries post office is the one that offer crypto exchange, or should I say adopt bitcoin so you cn send a letter. Even it looks like just a simple or a small accomplishment, it is still adoption, and adoption is a milestone for us. We hope for future potential adoptions and who knows what will be the next?

20kevin20, you ask questions to which answers have already been given, you just need to read from the beginning. It is a normal thing that any seller in the post office needs to give their ID, it is a state-owned company which can not afford to purchase crypto without asking for a document from a client. It also should be noted that this project is still in the test phase, only in a few offices in one city.

There are some other options in Croatia where users can buy/sell certain amounts of coins without any ID, but based on information posted in this thread all of them will need to adjust to new AML rules which should come into force early next year.

If in your opinion being requested an ID by the state-owned institutions/companies is a normal step, for me it is not. Doesn't it basically stand against the purpose of Bitcoin?

While these news are amazing as we're taking a look at the evolution of cryptocurrencies, this KYC part annoys me. It's not that I'm hiding my identity, but these two (AML and KYC) could affect anybody at any time and involves a third party being used in the transaction process. That's either the bank being allowed to either accept or refuse your transaction in case of a bank transaction to buy/sell crypto, or the state itself doing the same thing but with cash by requesting your identity.

I've been running away from control for so many years, and yet today we're exactly where I feared we could end. I am just afraid this is not a step they took to adopt cryptocurrencies but a step to try an artificial centralization of Bitcoin. The amount of precious metals you can buy in the EU anonymously is also starting to get shrinked, slowly but it does affect a lot of people.

Sorry now for deviating from the main subject. Overall, it makes me happy to see adoption and I'm sure projects like this will attract new people to invest too. I just hope these new investors will have a real, not a false image of crytpocurrencies in their head.
