Here are some advises for newbies.

1. Never deal with anyone before checking his trust page. (Enter the profile and push the button Trust ) You will see two types of feedbacks. Trusted and Untrusted. Trusted feedbacks are visible for everyone by default unless you make changes in your trust settings. Untrusted  feedback's can be seen if you push the button Show ratings. Take into consideration that untrusted feedback's can be totally inaccurate.

2. Avoid dealing with newbies, especially those that are offering BTC Buy/Sell deals.

3. Avoid BTC Buy/Sell deals via PayPal (Can be charged back)

4. If you are planing to invest in any project, check very carefully the whitepaper and team members. Sometimes scammers are using stolen pictures and plagiarized whitepapers. Use online plagiarism checking tools and check team photos via google or yandex. Also check the OP's trust page. Please take into consideration that some projects are using so called bump service. (A lot of newbie profiles are posting positive comments in the thread.) That is a clear sign that the project is a potential scam

5. For any deal always use an escrow service even if it is a small amount of money. Reputable escrows can be found here.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0

6. Always ask for previous works links if you are hiring someone for any work. Avoid hiring newbies.

7. Avoid deals that are too good to be true. Especially those that are offering huge profits.

8. Avoid buying or selling accounts. (Your profile will receive negative red trust score)

9. Avoid participating in any bounty campaign managed by unknown or newbie profile. Also avoid so called airdrops. Reputable bounty managers can be found here. Check the poll https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5032713.20

10. If you do not understand something, contact the forum moderator or any high ranked reputable member with positive green trust.

11. Do not randomly click on any link: Many links lead you to scam websites or download viruses to your computer.

12. Do not download any untrustworthy wallets/apps: This includes closed source and the new wallets/apps "Hosting on Github will not change anything."

13. If someone will ask you to deposit any amount for participating in any project or if someone is asking you to pay for receiving bounty tokens or coins, avoid that requests, because there is a big chance that you will be scammed.

Please add any info if I missed something.

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

Most importantly, dealing with paypal is much riskier than any other currency exchange. People can easily charge back the payment later. One must not exchange anything for paypal unless the other party is trusted or ready to pay with FnF.

However, it's not avoid in fact, one must be think twice, check forum reputation, use FnF method only when exchaning anything with Paypal. Dealing with trusted memebers would be okay as well.

I just want to add a small thing: Scam Accusations (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0) and Reputation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=129.0) are some really useful references in terms of checking a project if it's a scam; especially Scam Accusations, there're a lot of scam projects exposed there.
There are various types of scams. Only a few lines of words can't fully describe them all. Many topics were created to talk about specific kinds of scams. I might list them here for your references in case you want to broaden your topic:

A good set of tips but you can't confine all the stuff in one place.
We must all continue to question and research, nothing is perfect.
I can add these points:

 - Read Forum Rules: This advice will secure your account first and you will be able to learn a lot of things about this forum.
 - Do not randomly click on any link: Many links lead you to scam websites or download viruses to your computer.
 - Do not download any untrustworthy wallets/apps: This includes closed source and the new wallets/apps "Hosting on Github will not change anything."
 - Do not trust anyone: review each piece of information before using it.

I gave you one merit for the thread, but I have a small proposal for you to improve OP. I think it is better if you don't not hold everything like that, just hold and highlight important words/ phrase.

Using paypal is really not safe. I have been locked many times and restricted my use of money. Although I only use it transactions between users

Something that may worth to be added:
If you have to deposit somewhere an amount of money "for the fess" in order to withdraw some bigger amounts, most probably it's a scam and those bigger amounts don't exist.

...maybe you can even find better/clearer wording for this  Smiley

Maybe you should try to add avoiding buying Merit and Positive Trust within or outside the forum. I've seen how this works some transactions went well and some don't. And people who paid and didn't receive anything would complain in the forum but at the end they would get negative trust because they are buying trust and merits for their accounts. Transactions related to this are always risky as you really don't know who you are dealing with especially if you found them outside of the forum. You better off staying away from this offers as they aren't even allowed in the forum.

Huge returns = 99% scam. Almost all projects that are offering huge returns in crypto are ponzi schemes.

Accepting paypal expands the amount of people you can transact with by a huge amount. Very few people even use crypto and the occasinal chargeback is just cost of doing business.  There is a reason why amazon is taking mostly credit/debit card payments.  It appeals to the masses and gets you more customers.

dont need to think twice cause every ponzi uses this trick to get money. But still they are few people who fall on this scam ponzis those who are desperate.
