That was a very complete performance from Barcelona in the Super Cup. I don't think the 1 goal margin tells the full story of that match which we entirely dominated for the most parts only getting hit on a counter and through a set piece. We looked to be sailing through until the red card which made the final few minutes very nervy. We got some luck with the chances Madrid missed late on, but it was luck I believe was earned with how good Barcelona played.

I actually liked Xabi and believe he should have been given more time to work with the team and also get fully backed by the board. It almost feels like egoing trophyless last season meant there is little patience for success, he was probably already under pressure even before he signed for the club.

The whole first half finishing sequence was probably the wildest thing that I have seen in a long time. The game was 1-0 at 45th minute, and it was 1-1 at 46th minute, and 2-1 at 48th minute and 2-2 at 50th minute. You do not see that very often, in fact you do not see 2-2 results whole game that often, let alone 3 goals in 5 minutes of stoppage time, that is very rare.

The added time was 3 minutes.. which means the game was supposed to end around the 48’. Lewandowski had a goal around 49th minutes  which was 1 minute late aleready.. After that particular goal,the game was supposed to end immediately but then the ref allowed play-on before Realmadrid eventually scored another around 51'.

That’s the reason you saw those extra two goals but then last minutes are always intense so anything can happen,  last World Cup final was a good example ..

Is their any link of Alonso becoming Liverpool coach any time soon when Arne Slot gets sack. Don't forget that, for the time being, Alonso will stay out of club till whenever a club chooses to sign him as their coach.

The focus is now who becomes the Real Madrid coach to bring back the teams work in the team and be able to  control the certain players who Ancelotti and Alonso couldn't control. I wish Real Madrid luck as they will love to sign a quality coach, to continue with their pursuit for lifting a trophy by the end of the 2025/2026 season

This is still possible especially since since he was at Leverkusen there have been several rumors about Xabi and also Liverpool so it does not rule out the possibility of this happening.
I don't think he's getting the conditions he deserves but that's how hard it is in Madrid when you don't live up to expectations from the start then there will definitely be a quick breakup and this is nothing new for Madrid because a lot of players have felt the same way before and maybe even the coach has felt the same way as Xabi but this does look a little faster to me.

For the future it looks like Arbeloa will still be an interim for a few games or it could be until the end of the season before Madrid actually get a new coach for them in the future.
As a Madrid fan, I hope this transition doesn't disrupt performance significantly because it's definitely a case of adaptation and chemistry starting all over again for both player and coach.

I think is safe to say somebody like the Como manager Fabregas made a wise decision by staying put at Como when some other clubs came calling. This is another example of not every big call is good to answer, ignore some calls and move on but it doesn't seem that way for Alonso. He was doing extremely well at Bayer Leverkusen until he choose Madrid over a team he built to be unstoppable in the Bundesliga now take a good look at how he threw everything he worked for because he wanted Madrid a high profile club, this is sad.

He is still young and full of energy, so getting a team to coach will not be a problem for him because his record at Bayern Leverkusen is a testament to his coaching skills which is great. It was a clash of the titans of which whenever these two giants in the Spanish football league meets there would always be something spectacular to marvel on because their games are always breathtaking and intensifying till the last minute. What led to the extension of time beyond the extra 3 minutes by the referee was the time spent on each goal celebration, the time was added to the playing time as the game resumes, fortunately, more goals kept on coming.

Life is about taking risks and seeking ways to advance your career. Aabi Alonso wanted to seek no challenges and make his mark in the La Liga after having a good time in the Bundesliga.  At the end, the move to Madrid didn't go as planned, it's all good. Fabregas is doing well in Como and I am sure one day, he will also seek a higher challenge in a bigger club. 

I think this is a huge mistake. Vinicius and Mbappe are the ones who should leave the team; these two are doing too much damage to the team. Alonso tried to change things, but the players won. Now Arbeloa has arrived, but as long as Real Madrid has a system based on individual players, it's impossible for them to succeed. This will be another lost year for Real Madrid. If I were Arda Güler, I would leave the team immediately. Because I think some players will get regular playing time, but that chance is unlikely for Arda.

If Carlo Ancelotti was able to manage these players, Xabi should have done the same. There are players who are more pretigous than coaches and Vinicius and Mbappe fall into such category. Why should Güler leave, he is a fantastic. He should remain and fight for his place. The new coach might like his stylr and play him regularly.

I was very surprised by Alonso's departure. Alonso was definitely not the problem at Real Madrid. I think the management made a huge mistake. Even under Ancelotti, they couldn't control certain players, and because of that, there was no team play.

The Spanish Super Cup final has become the limit of Real Madrid management's tolerance for Xabi, and he is unable to bring Real Madrid to win the title, so it is fitting for him to leave Real Madrid. So far, management has tolerated him, but he has not been able to improve Real Madrid's performance, and the club and fans cannot wait any longer to see Real Madrid fall.
Even though this is quite unfortunate for some, the decision cannot be avoided, and appointing a new coach is the most realistic option at this time-- especially since Real Madrid's new coach is Arbeloa, a familiar name, he should not have to start from zero again, and is better able to handle the current situation.

Sometimes you have to take risk to get more exposures,experience and probably  proof you're  worth more, realmadrid is more like home to hime so there's nothing wrong with coming to coach there imo. The pressure was just too much on him at the moment, he did try for realmadrid  and tbh, I wasn't  expecting  it to be this early but then I don't  know the kind of agreement  he signed with Realmadrid.

Real Madrid are made quiet in many games but you see this season, they are humbled with disappointment and it affected their ego that they can't even make any challenge. Look at the Laliga and check the higests goal scored, Mbape has 18 and no any player come close to him. That shows the players are very active but Xabi lack the strategy to put the team in a better position. We can't blame him though, he is exhausted and out of plan and it's even better for him that he left when it's still early.

Alvaro can be passionate about Real Madrid but let's not forget the big elephant in the room and that is Barcelona. As long as those guys are not weak in any way, even this new coach wouldn't be able to blend them to lose unless he has some special moves better than what Anceloti has did in the last few years. Barcelona has players that are not average players, that's the problem. It's either Real Madrid players upgrade above them or they remain below in the table, there is no magic about it.

Alonso tried his best, but his best were not just enough for the level of competition they're getting on and I guess it was the reason they had to lay him off his duties. Alonso has been serving the team with much of passion, passion to bring his team to victory, to carve their name on the mountain of successful but he got overwhelmed with the complexity of the work vis-a-vis the pressure which was coming from all sides. If you see from his efforts and physical reactions when the club is losing on the pitch you will understand he's putting all his best to position the club but Real Madrid is one powerhouse which cannot just be managed by every manager until those managers who are super experienced and dynamic in their tactics.

It's unfortunate how they lose this way to Barcelona, this is making Barcelona's confidence towards them increasing every time they meet. They have more quality when compared to Barcelona so I am surprised how they are losing to them everytime. The way they approach games against Barcelona is why they are always losing, Barcelona is a team that is good with creating chances and attacking but Madrid is doing nothing to counter that, they just let their defense lose and exposed giving Barcelona more confidence with the attacks. You must not let Barcelona be comfortable with the ball, defend them as if your life depends on it and you will win. They don't have a strong defense so if you can hold the attacks then your chances of winning is high. Same thing Maresca did which gave Chelsea the advantage to win and they did.

Yeah obviously Hansi Flick performance was absolutely prestigious, like his team delivered absolutely incredible performance. Barca was fully prepared for the match and that's why they dominated the entire match with pretty numerous of shots as well as with ball possession. Hansi Flick is the mastro of the final and to be honest he just proved it right that no one can beat him in the final....

Moreover, if we talked about the match, Barcelona was probably the dominator. Real Madrid also play good but unfortunately they miss a lot of chance despite Barcelona player make it modified a d out it into the back of the net instead of missing. Besides that the red card of Frenkie De Jong is absolutely poor decision.  it wasn't a hard foul lien it was a minor foul, and it can be penalized through a yellow, not a red.

I agree, he should have stayed with the team at least until the end of the season. I think Xabi was let go a little too early. Real Madrid acted too quickly on this, and perhaps they will regret it. Xabi is a coach who makes a difference, as we saw at Bayer Leverkusen. However, he wasn't given enough time. He only played half the league season and still had a team with a chance at the championship. In the final match, they didn't lose by a huge difference, they fought very well, but luck wasn't quite on Real Madrid's side.

I think he could have been in charge of the team for at least a full year. I believe Real Madrid's management made a mistake in this regard.

Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen are very different in their club's tradition and expectation as well as pressure on head coaches are very different too. Xabi Alonso shown his management quality and capability with Bayer Leverkusen but in Real Madrid he struggled and failed to satisfy expectation of the club's boss and fans.

It's quite similar with Cesc Fabregas who has made good management and impression with Como in Serie A two latest seasons but let's be fair, what Fabregas has achieved with Como is even less than what Xabi Alonso got with Bayer Leverkusen. Cesc is another promising young coach but if he joins Real Madrid, he will face with similar pressure like Xabi Alonso got and failed.

In latest weeks, Xabi Alonso lost control in Real Madrid and his relationships with star players there became worse with time. The defeat in Super Copa match against Barcelona is a very disappointed result as Real Madrid with less points than Barcelona in La Liga, and if they are unable to beat this competitor in direct match, they won't be able to win La Liga.

Besides there's nothing like guard of honour between Real Madrid and Barcelona again ever since Barcelona spoilt it by not giving Real Madrid a guard of honour years ago. That tradition is broken unless maybe they will try to bring it back again between them. A guard of honour is given to a team after winning a cup in the next game. So the team that's required to give Barcelona a guard of honour is the team they are to meet next after this win and that's if the team will choose to give because Spanish super cup is not a major trophy. It's just like the community Shield in England. Besides, once a team wins, they stay back for the team that lost to receive their silver medal first before the winners are presented with the gold medal and trophy afterwards. Did you see how Alonso made them watch Barcelona lift the trophy? Yes, they all had the right to move away from the stadium by the coach made them to watch the ceremony. Do you remember the last time Real Madrid won against Barcelona? They all left the pitch before the trophy was presented to them.

I think Alonso has agreed from the beginning to coach Real Madrid, even his confidence with his previous success in Germany makes him sure that he will bring success to Real Madrid, even though it is the opposite, this failure can be a benchmark and can improve the scheme that will be implemented later, even though the demands that Alonso received to restore Real Madrid's glory do not mean that the failure in the Super Cup will end just like that, the La Liga competition is still too long, anything can happen.
