I am not surprised by the result. Because Real betis was not a weak opponent. They have a strong enough squad. On the other hand, atletico madrid's performance is also quite irregular.

Winning a game is about taking advantage and utilizing of the chances you get against your opponent but Atletico Madrid failed to do that as they had lots of chances on goal than Real Betis but wasted them. They continue to perform as a mediocre team in the La'liga which is quite disappointing that all ATM does every season is battle to secure a top 4 spot for the UCL for the next season when they're supposed to be in the race to win the league just as Barcelona and Real Madrid constantly battle for.

Until Diego Simeone is replaced, Atletico Madrid can't go beyond where they are but I doubt he would be sacked anytime soon because it's like the ATM management board are satisfied with just qualifying them for the UCL every season.

Before the match I was pretty sure Madrid could get 3 points in this match but when looking at the line-up although my belief is still the same, there is a little skepticism that I feel because some players cannot currently be in the squad to play.

Jude, Vini, Rodrygo are missing although I know in the end sometimes Vini is also always unpredictable when his performance on the field but his role is still quite important in the squad.
What I don't understand is when Arbeloa starts Jimenez at right-back when there's already Trent and Carvajal on the bench. I know they've just recovered but it's a brave and risky move in my opinion.

You made a good observation and I think your statement that "Real Madrid will need to work for the win if they actually want to get all three points" tallied with what the club manager Alvaro Arbeloa said in the dressing room after the first half. In the second half of the game, Real Madrid played like a team with the sole intention of winning the game and were rewarded at the end. 0:2 it ended in favour of Real Madrid who has now reduced Barcelona's lead at the top of the league table to just one point.

Real Madrid won the game, scoring 2 goals and conceding none, but honestly, they don't convince me. They have problems in attack, even though they're winning games, which is what matters most in football. They still don't have a strong, consistent attack like Barcelona's.

Also, the way they play isn't very good, and I highly doubt anything will change because it seems to me that the management suffers from some kind of psychological obsession with certain players, a kind of unhealthy love, which unfortunately will mean that all the coaches have no power over the team.
