Real Madrid finished the 23th week of the season strong by defeating Valencia 0-2. In my opinion, Valencia is strong. This is evident in the first half, as Real Madrid failed to score against Valencia. In the second half, Real Madrid managed to score against Valencia through Carreras and Mbappé. In my opinion, Real Madrid should have scored more goals against Valencia. Considering the league standings, Real Madrid and Valencia are significantly different, as Valencia is close to the relegation zone.

Valencia did made it tough for Real Madrid, it was at no point an easy game for Madrid, Madrid began to get the chances after their first goal, they had been of a weak performance in the first half than they later became in the second but they actually got three points which was most important for then and this will also help them with their position on the table  and hopefully they stay on the title race well enough  to want to attempt  winning  the title by staying ahead of Barcelona.

Even though Real Madrid won this match Arbeloa still has a lot of work to do. Real Madrid played very poorly and fortunately they played against Valencia in poor form. Carreras first goal really showed how poor Valencia's defense is. I can say that even with Madrid's poor performance, they still managed to win against Valencia at the Mestalla, so I conclude that Valencia is poor this season and it's perfectly understandable that they are at the bottom of the standings.

This game was a bit "simple" for my taste if you want me to be serious. I get that Real Madrid won, but the game itself didn't look that good for either side at all. It was a boring game of nothing, sure it looks 2-0 but the last goal came in last minutes and for 90 minutes almost nothing happened in all of the game.

Real Madrid didn't look like they were really trying to increase the score, and Valencia didn't even look like they were trying to get a tie, and both teams just passed and did nothing for majority of the game. I get that we can't have incredibly fun games in every single game, but it is not really fun to watch these type of games neither. You want to see players try something and when they all just rest during the game and do nothing but just pass, it becomes boring.

Overall, Villarreal is better regarding its position, performance and the fact that they are the hosting team. The odds of Villarreal are less than two, while Espanyol are more than 4.5. Bookies are clearly supporting Villarreal. I think they will win too.
Sometimes I think both teams to score is a better option in such situations, however in this game I am not sure at all and I cannot rule out a draw without goals too.

Atletico Madrid had to stumble as they lost to Real Betis at their own ground which must have been very embarrassing. Antony's only goal in the 28th minute was a nightmare for them in this match. Since the beginning I have seen the great potential of Real Betis to be able to beat the host and sure enough it happened in this match.

This result makes them further away from the 2 teams above and at the same time makes them closer to the team below them, especially Villareal also has 2 matches yet to be played. It seems that Atletico Madrid will drop positions if Villareal succeeds in the 2 matches they will play.

What I saw from this game is that Diego Simeone underrated Real Betis, maybe with how they beat them at the Copa Del Rey, he thought it was gonna be so… Big mistake he made. One thing about this whole Real Betis v Athletico Madrid saga that I have come to confirm once again I'd that Athletico Madrid should just sack Diego Simeone and bring someone that can actually make this club better, I know Diego really much for ATM but the fact still remains that Diego has lost it and with the quality of players they are having now in there roster, he should be doing better. Am telling you that ATM can beat PSG In the Champions League and still lose to Alaves in the following fixture.

That's harsh calling them shitty though, well maybe they made you lose your bet as they usually do. Atletico Madrid is not a team to fully rely on that's why I have decided to exclude them but personally they are trying. The are the third best team in the league. We know that after the purchase of Lookman we were expecting some changes in the team which all boils down to winning but one thing we should also put into perspective is their style of play. Their defensive pattern of play doesn't suit a player like Lookman and a whole bunch of other few in the team and that's why they will struggle. I know Lookman is a good player but he will struggle at Atletico Madrid because of their pattern of football so I'm not expecting anything so special from the signing. I watched this game at least completed the first half and part of the second half when Carreras scored his goal. Honestly it was a bad playing style from Real Madrid and wasn't like any that could be said they were playing against a relegation zone side. Real Madrid didn't dominate the game going by the unmatched level of their opponent which made the first half to end in goalless. What made them to win that game was just that they were against a poor side who are one of the teams with the poorest performing record in the La'liga this season.

Valencia failed to get a single shot on target. Not one! Courtois literally stood there for ninety minutes doing nothing other than possibly thinking about what to have for dinner.

And yeah Carreras's goal looked easy because the defense of Valencia switched off. That kid is twenty-two, playing left-back, he cut inside on his left foot to score. From outside the box. Against a set defense. That's actually quite hard to do? But everyone just sees Valencia collapse and think Madrid got lucky.

I've watched Arbeloa's five games now and there's a pattern. He plays conservative in the first sixty minutes, and then cranks up the intensity when the other team's legs are gone. It's boring as hell to watch in terms of the first half. But it works. Five wins, best defense in the league. And people are complaining still because it's not pretty enough.

On Mbappes though, he may not be a winger any more, and honestly? Good. Twenty-three goals in twenty-three games. Scorers were leading by eight goals. Who cares if he's not doing stepovers if he's putting the ball in the net every single match?

The Vini dependency is real though. All without him that left side just Dies. That's the real problem that Arbeloa needs to fix.
