A fairly good start for Real Madrid, and for some reason, Madrid’s performance feels similar to the way they played under Ancelotti, who always seemed to apply more pressure in the second half. I wonder if this is just a coincidence, or if Mourinho is actually trying to continue some of the strategies and tactics that Ancelotti used previously. If Madrid can consistently secure wins in the second half in any competition, I think they will be able to compete for the title again.

Indeed, the second half culture of forcing opponents and thrashing their defenses with the press is now a part of Real Madrid game, shattering the back line of their opponent. The exact tactical adjustment and replacements normally affect the game immediately, altering the game. Regularly getting the opportunity to do so at critical moments is an asset to Madrid since they set out to establish their presence in the esteemed championship title, both locally and internationally, till the conclusion of the season.

I agree with you that it was just a managed point gathering, I was very impressed with the way that Espanyol approached the game, it was an absolute joy to watch, when they scored the game was more intense, the Real Madrid defense looks shaky, I don’t know what Ibrahima Konate was doing in the defense, same old terrible and shaky performance as always when he was at Liverpool.
They were lucky to have scored in the late minutes of the game thanks to a goal from a player called Espi, who I have never watched play football, it’s good he is making a name for himself, I don’t always like Mourinho style of football because it’s an old fashion for me.
Real Madrid didn't play up to people's expectations, because when they brought in Jose Mourinho and new players, we thought they would be a lot of improvement in their game. But from what I saw in their opening game against Espayol nothing has change. Real Madrid pattern of playing is still almost the same with what they play played under Xabi Alonso and Arbeloa. Honestly I agreed with that Real Madrid just managed to win but since that was their first match of the season, let wait and see if Jose Mourinho will offer something big as fans are expecting but he really needs to work on his defense.

Elche narrowly avoided relegation last season. In addition to head coach Eder Sarabia, the club has parted ways with key players such as Alvaro Rodriguez and Febas. Elche’s primary focus will be on maintaining a compact defense. I’m curious to see how Barcelona will start the league after sending nearly its entire squad to the World Cup. With its squad quality and championship aspirations, Barcelona is the clear favorite in this match. However, away games in the first week of the season always require caution. Barcelona may not have fully settled into its tempo, physical level, and rhythm yet.

I don't think anyone should be surprised about how Real Madrid managed to snatch victory towards the end of the match, it is something very natural when the favorite team is really trying to find his victory. The tactics of the game between coaches are likely to be different, the intensity of attacks is increased when it is mandatory since behind, especially towards the end of the second half. I honestly don't see anything different, but it's hard to judge something perfectly at the beginning of the season. Today Barcelona will play against Elche. Barcelona are favourites to take 3 points away, it would also be a good start for them to start the season. I'm confident enough to say Barcelona can win their first game of the season, so I hope that really comes true. Elche are relatively easy to beat, but there are no guarantees about the final result.

Hey guys, did you see the Atletico Madrid game? Wow, they booed Julian Alvarez a lot. I think fans are really harsh when a player responds like that to his club, expressing that he wants to leave, especially for Barcelona. Julian's face said it all. That's why it's often better to stay quiet, think, and then speak. It's tough, because this isn't just a one-time thing—it's going to go on all season. I don't know if Julian can handle all that pressure. source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomsanderson/2026/08/23/barcelona-target-julian-alvarez-heavily-booed-by-atletico-madrid-fans-video/

Footballers are accustomed to such situations; it is part of the job. These things happen when a player whom the fans want to keep decides to leave, and the fans make it clear that they do not want that to happen. When a footballer wants to transfer to a big club, they accept the risk of facing such situations. In my opinion, this does not put pressure on the player; these are simply things inherent to the nature of football. If he believes that this transfer request will be good for him, he will be far less affected by the fans' reaction.

Yes, things like that often happen to new players who join related clubs, When basically brutal ridicule was carried out by supporters towards Álvarez there was certainly an element of dislike towards him, But usually the bad habits carried out by supporters will gradually recover and improve, often as time passes on the field, they will realize that their ridicule towards Álvarez was wrong. The nature of fans winning is like that, sometimes emotions rise and sometimes they stabilize, we can only hope that Álvarez can face it all coolly, Indeed, if it is digested, it is hard for him, In addition, there is a banner that says "Julian Out" at the training complex. This actually becomes a burden for Álvarez, but he is sure that this will all end by itself when Álvarez shows his best in the match.

He walked straight into the tunnel. I doubt he will ever play for them again this. He was booed prior to the kick off and also after the kick off This is yet another toxic and hate relationship I dislike between a club I like and also a player I like. He can request for a loan spell somewhere else at least to get enough game time since they are refusing to sell either to Real Madrid or Barcelona. Second fixture of the season and they shared the spoils with Villarreal. Thanks to the equalizer from the managers son. Elche is one hell of a side to face at home. They have a good record, I'm keen to see how Barcelona breaks it.

Elche at home is not an easy opponent, but Barcelona should beat them because they are a much stronger team. Elche is a team that draws a lot of matches, regardless of whether they are playing at home or away. I think that’s exactly what they will be aiming for against Barcelona, not to lose. So they will most likely play defensively, but I seriously doubt they will be able to keep a clean sheet. I expect Barcelona to score 2–3 goals today.

The matter should be normal now and Alvarez should be allowed to play without pressure, because Atletico Madrid is not willing to let him go. If Alvarez continues to perform, maybe the fans will also return to normal. For this, I think the fans should first become normal, then Alvarez will be able to win the hearts of the fans again with his performance very soon. Or he will have to fight against the fans' taunts and with himself to win the hearts of the fans. If the situation continues to deteriorate, it will definitely affect Alvarez's performance, if so, maybe Atletico Madrid's fight will fail.

The fact that they nearly escape relegation last season might make them to be very careful this season so that what happened to them last season will not happen again but I don't think this seriousness will start from where Barcelona is because the form and the players Barcelona has is sufficient so even contend or defend the trophy. Though there is always a home advantage and the morale of Elche will be very high because it is their home but Barcelona should deal with them regardless.
I don't see how Elche is going to escape from being defeated tonight, Barcelona is the favorite of that match, irrespective of the match venue, Home does not make any difference again unlike before, and even as that, Elche is never a threat to Barcelona, we know both team strength, Elche might want to start well in the early minutes of the match, But Barcelona as the team that's more experienced than them, might dominate the match, on a more important note, that match will be Barcelona first league match of the season, and beside Realmadrid have won theirs already, Barcelona will not want throw away this chance, so I won't be surprised if they win with multiple goals.

Espanyol is a team with a very solid defense and winning them at home is a very good result from Mourinho and his boys, The only error I noticed there was removing Guller in that match, but I believe Mourinho had his reasons, he's a coach that can change tactics anytime in the game to get an expected results.

Even though that Barcelona seems to be the dominant team in this match, their victory is still a probability as there's no sure winning in football. Yes no doubt that Barcelona has the superior squad depth, they players are well experienced but anything could still happen. it is obvious that Barcelona has the advantage in this match but that doesn't mean that they should underestimate elche, they need to take this match seriously so they need to make sure that they do not lose against elche so that they will have the same point with real Madrid at the table.

Let's not forget in a hurry that Mourinho and some other players were signed to the Real Madrid team this season. You wouldn't expect Mourinho to get it right with all the Real Madrid players at once, without a few mistakes found in the team to question the team's performance. However, I do believe that with a little bit of time given, Mourinho will align the frontline and defense line of Real Madrid to be formidable as it ought to. This opening match is not what we will use to judge Real Madrid performance for the season

It is not a crime to voice out your feelings and make people understand what you want. Atletico Madrid shouldn’t make this difficult for all parties involved. This way won’t profit anyone, but I think Atletico Madrid will lose more, because they will continue paying the wages and he won’t be playing. Sell the player and reinvest the money in another player. There are many players out there that are playing better than Julian Alvarez. Scout them and invest. Let this player go to the club of his dreams, don’t stand in his way. The fans don’t like him again and doesn’t want the club again, let everyone part ways and let there be peace and harmony in all camps.

This is not only the tactics of Carlo Ancelotti, Álvaro Arbeloa also won most of his matches in the second half when he was their coach and it seems like what is becoming a culture for Real Madrid, they get more serious in the second half unlike the first half where they appear weak. That is not a good tactics in my opinion because if it might lead them to lose matches especially if their opponents first score 2 goals ahead. Overall performance of Real Madrid was intelligent, Jose Mourinho has proven that he is the special one and as such he is making everything possible to bring the team alive again. Let's see what will come out of their rival's match tonight (Elche versus Barcelona).

Barca first eleven 11 looks weak to take on Elche at home with that squad leaving some key players on the bench, we are eager to see what Barcelona will play after belittling real Madrid not to have played well yesterday. Elche has always been giving Barcelona hard time to win and also very strong at home. Barcelona barely won Elche last season and same thing is expected to happen today. I doubt and hoped for Barca not to win this match as it will be a very good advantage for Real Madrid if they loose today's match but unfortunately for Real Madrid Barca is already winning with a goal up.
