Any idea on profits?  I set up one randomX rig and its mining loki, making .47 cents a day, I hope xmr is more.

Shoot... It may be time to fire up my 100+ Xeon X5660 CPUs and my bank of Dell R815 servers again (120+ Opteron 6380).

Exciting stuff... I've had a lot of my farm turned off lately.

Profitability on RandomX, only after fork is done on November 30 so you will have: network hashrate and monero price to do the math.

The issue here is the amount of hardware that needs to be bought for a CPU algo. For a GPU algo, all you need to increase hashrates is to buy the GPU and riser card. Now, you will have to get the whole shebang (PSU, memory, MB etc.) How will this be ever profitable? Will there ever be a riser card/board equivalent for CPUs?

That's all part of the cost per hash. It's no different than an algo with a lower hashrate requiring
more CPU (or GPU) power to produce the same hash. What matters is how much the hash is worth.

Yes Intel has Xeon Phi compute addin boards with up to 72 cores with 4:1 hyperthreading
for 288 threads. The're compute beasts but very expensive and not suitable for mining due
to the low mem/thread ratio. It maxes out at 384 GB which is similar to the cache/thread
ratio of most desktop CPUs.

If Loki network hashrate is any indication, it's not going to be profitable for RandomX

Well Loki cant show anything. XMR alone will bring 100x times USD value in daily rewards. Loki and Wownero together are traded about 2k usd daily. Thats ridic low.

There will probably be a lot of coins following monero, probably more than ever before.
So the market will be so much bigger for bad actors to dilute.

Still could go either way....

PS: Epic Cash based on Randomx shows 1.3-1.4usd per day for 3900x. Dont know if it's accurate though as havent had time to try.

Meiby someone could test just for lulz Smiley

3900x are very profitable on CPU coins right now , close to 2-3 a day

Exciting stuff... I've had a lot of my farm turned off lately.

My X5660 CPUs are doing ~1400-1500 server side after 24 hours. Not bad!

Excited to turn the Dell's back on and give them a go =) I have read they should do around 11kh each total.

Sure hope there is a decent profit window when Monero ports.

-----

Using a profit calc right now it shows 1500 H/S at $0.45 a day (which has good profit margin on my XEON chips) and the R815s at 11kh at $3.39… and I would guess it's a good assumption network hash rate will drop A LOT after the fork? That would be nice.

There is already a single Loki miner contributing a whopping 17MH to the Loki network!! That hashrate is equivalent to 11K Ryzen 3900X units and that is only from a single miner. Once XMR forks, where do you think he will be diverting his hashrate to. And how many more of these giants lurking around waiting for the xmr fork. So, I'd say good luck trying to make a good profit from CPU mining.

Do your math, it's only 1400 Ryzen 3900X, not 11K, but I think in reality it's more like 10,000 old Xeon or Opteron farm. I don't think there are more than 10-20 such giant farms out there. Loki network is much bigger than 17 MH, and there's only 1 such farm mining it.

Anyone tried the older 2990x threadripper yet on random-x ?
guessing the new trx40 processors wil be a lot faster than the 3900x cpu...

I need help running RandomX benchmark with largepages enabled.

My bat file content:

benchmark --mine --jit --largePages --threads 8 --init 8 --nonces 100000

Result:

RandomX benchmark v1.1.1
 - full memory mode (2080 MiB)
 - JIT compiled mode
 - hardware AES mode
 - large pages mode
Initializing (8 threads) ...
ERROR: Cache allocation failed
To use large pages, please enable the "Lock Pages in Memory" policy and reboot.

I have in "Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment > Lock pages in memory" set to Everyone

Using windows 10

Any ideas?

It's time to turn on some servers, is HiveOS a good option to boot these servers and mining RandomX? or does anyone have any better suggestions?

nicehash OS could be a free alternative for you.

What's your hardware specs?
Probably not enough L2/L3 cache to run 8 threads as RandomX requires: 16 KiB of L1 cache, 256 KiB of L2 cache and 2 MiB of L3 cache per mining thread.

Ok, then try: --mine --jit --largepages --threads 8 --init 16 --nonces 100000

The RYZEN 5 3600 seems like a pretty good compromise without having to break the bank and looks to be similar in performance to the 3700 but the 3900x is a beast and is very tempting. I imagine the new Threadrippers are going to have some amazing results on RandomX but will probably be cost prohibitive.

Right now my i7 3930k making 300h/s on cryptonightR and it values as 0.10$ for a day consuming 130w .
if im not wrong it will pay me about 0.25$ with randomx.im sure it will pay this for 2-3 days then after it will be again like 0.10$.All people waiting something huge but results becomes same at the end of the road.cryptonight always paid for cpu very little.so dont be sooo exited.
