So, more of Dave’s ramblings but with an interesting twist. As I mentioned in another thread, it’s only recently that I have changed my trust list off of default trust. Most of the people I have added I have had some interaction of some sort on the forum with. Others I have seen their posts and their actions and added them.

There are a few people here, that I have had dealings with in the real world, with 0 interactions here. Not even posting on the same boards. They are mostly altcoiners. Do I add them? I know ‘IRL’ they can be trusted and have good judgement. Here, is a bit more difficult.

In the end it probably does not matter. But yet again, it’s something we probably have to think about and might warrant some discussion.

-Dave

Have you seen my Trust list viewer (direct link) yet? You can use it to see who others have on their Trust list. Theymos' Trust list could be a good starting point.

Have they left any feedback on others? If so, you can use those to assess their judgement on others. If you think they have good judgement: add them to your Trust list.

And:
Don't confuse your Trust list with Feedback though:
  • Feedback: people you trust (or don't trust: red)
  • Trust list: people who's judgement on others you trust (or don't trust: ~)

I have seen it and I get what you are saying about feedback vs. trust list.

What I am getting at is, picking on the 1st name in your trust list. Why do you trust dooglus? Have you seen his posts here and trust his judgement on others because of it? Have you had trades with him and see how he treats others in trading and how he responds to them? Is he generally a useful person on the forum and helps out others? OR have you known him as a tech geek for 10 years and think he is great person, even if you have no real idea how they are really behaving here? Remember, he is your friend, you are much more likely to give the person you have known and hung out with for a decade the benefit of the doubt if he is generating a bit of spam and pumping some alt coin then you would give to me an unknown person on a forum. That is just human nature.

I have somewhat not kept up on what they are doing here because they just have different interests in crypto then I do. We really don't discuss it when hanging out.

Since I only had my trust set to the default it didn't matter now it does since someone may take a look and / or be influenced by who I put there and I am trying to get a feel for it.

Which also, just tripped a thought across my brain. How many people here know and interact with others on a regular basis? Might be interesting to find out.

-Dave

If you consider someone trusted even if they were to stop being your friend, then that is what they are.

I can answer this: From what I've seen, dooglus is what I would call "level headed". I've seen his posts (but not all of them), and trust his judgement based on his posts and the feedback I've seen from him. He's been a forum member for 8.5 years,  I've seen him be helpful to others (example) and as an early adopter he's probably a tech geek indeed (and rich enough to make scamming very unlikely). He's not my friend, I don't know him and I don't think I've ever had any personal interaction.

There are a few people here,

Here, is a bit more difficult.

Why don't you mention the names of the people you entrust to add them to your trust.
for example:
1. A
2. B
3. C

If this is difficult to determine what you mean, there are hundreds of members who have professional and decent posts.

So, members will show you, which is worth giving trust. Maybe, members here will judge from the appropriate posts, choose one of the names that you post.

if, you ask for advice from members here.

If, you don't believe in the choice of members here, you can choose yourself, which you think is appropriate. Suggestion.

LoyceV nailed it and had examples.

Adding to your trust list should only take into account their actions on the forum. Regardless of how you use your list; entirely for yourself or with the forum in mind thinking about others that add you or if you are DT1. It's the feedback that they leave, how accurate it is, the relevancy, and their reasons for doing so.

Off forum relationships like trusting, previous dealings, or personal relationships can be left feedback. Which one depends on the situation and your personal standards.

No need, with the next update via LoyceV trust list, you can easily identify who he added or removed from his custom trust list.
OP just want to point out that, this is a virtual world, an individual could be trustworthy in the real world but isn't on the forum, vice versa. Nevertheless no one has the right to tell you who to or who not to add to your trust list, the choice is yours to make. Choose wisely though as you're not only indicating their feedback as trustworthy but also giving them your vote for DT.

People have rights to leave their feedback on others, but DT members, from 1 to 3 levels, have their more powerful weights with their feedbacks, especially with old Trust system.
After Trust Flag born to adjust and improve old Trust system, weights of feedbacks seems to be blurred a bit. This change help people whom painted with negative trusts less paranoid. Negative trust, for now, simply displayed with more friendly and less shocking color, with Orange (compared to past color, Red). Weighted trust eliminated too (nowadays, we no longer see Trust: -200 that come from a few powerful DT members' feedback)
But negative feedbacks from DT members, whoever they are, always show with Orange, that leads me to a thought that:
- Do DT members should have at least a minimum of positive trusts before their negative feedbacks on others will be displayed with Orange color?
- Forum does not need to see drama from new DT members whom still unfamiliar with their power, and can use their power wrongly.

Adding to your trust list should only take into account their actions on the forum.
That's my understanding of how one's trust list should be created as well.  If I've had transactions with someone which went well, I might leave them a positive feedback but won't necessarily add them to my trust list.  The latter is reserved for people who've shown good judgement in leaving feedback and/or other forum matters.  I mostly have scam/spam busters on my trust list and not members with whom I've bought or sold anything.

DaveF, you can do whatever you like with your trust list, but if you're on DT it becomes far more important to maintain the list responsibly.  Nowadays I have no clue who's on DT from minute to minute and you could end up on it if you aren't already (I haven't checked).  And if you're a DT member with a questionable trust list, you'll hear about it from other DT members pretty quickly.  My advice is to just be conservative when creating your list.  It doesn't have to be extensive and should reflect members' solid judgement in matters related to the forum.

How did that happen?

You are trusted by Buckrogers and anonymousminer who are both on DT1 this month after looking at your custom trust list on the LoyceV viewer.

I like that you let people know that you may discuss the PM's in public and would refrain from using their name. Just a good practice. So far the list looks good, some I'm not familiar with their feedback, but I'm sure you took some time and gave it thought. That's more than most do, hopefully you find it works well to give you the info you need. If not you can easily make small adjustments going forwards, much easier than starting from scratch.

Keep in mind that dealing with the trust lists, soon you dive in all the drama around them.
Now its quiet, but sooner or later there will be a new drama, that's how the forum politics works.

Bunch of Sallies fighting over a green feedback.  How pathetic!

~otrkid1970

Keep in mind that dealing with the trust lists, soon you dive in all the drama around them.
Now its quiet, but sooner or later there will be a new drama, that's how the forum politics works.

I'm on a few other forums. This one is polite even at it's worst.

~otrkid1970
It does not make any sense to exclude them. First of all, otrkid1970 didn't send any feedback except for hacked account. Second, except they excluded Lauda and The Pharmacist http://loyce.club/trust/2019-08-17_Sat_05.04h/2025790.html, their trust list is empty. Account is irrelevant.

It was sarcasm.
I actually added him in for a minute to take a screen shot, but I munged cropping the image on mobile so I just posted the text comment.

Somehow I'm DT2
How did that happen?
LoyceV answered about that. You are DT member because DT1 members selected you, and added you into their trust lists.
Can I ask that which are differences between DT1, DT2 members?
DT1 members select DT2 members, just like DT2 members select DT3 members.

Quote
I ask because I saw both DT1 and DT2 members can leave negative feedbacks on users
All users can leave feedback, just not all of them are shown by default.

Yet again, my sarcasm didn't show though my post.
More along the lines of, "how the hell did 2 DT1 people actually select me" :-)
