Compulsive thinking always makes us to believe that we are not in control of our lives and some time it makes us to do those things that naturally we may not like to do.
Unwanted thinking patterns is the root of compulsive thinking and until you are able to control your mind, you will forever feel that external forces especially spiritual forces are in control of what happened to you.
Meditation is the best way to empty your mind. You most create time to meditate on those good thing that you want to see in your life and try practices often and "you are good to go".

Meditation or spritual practice or whatever we call it as are really done by ourselves to keep our mind in relaxed state which is the first important thing needed to get our unwanted thinking out from us.The we need to concentrate on something which give more credibility to us than joy like the hard things which may looks difficult initially but when we done that it will bring the long lasting joy.

I found out that when my mind is in unwanted thinking pattern, it's when I'm not doing something useful. For example, when I'm day dreaming, or in the long term is when I'm jobless. For me, this unwanted thinking pattern occurred because I don't have anything useful to do. And when I'm busy with my job, or my family, or reading book, this thinking's gone. So I always keep my self busy doing something worth, either for myself or others. I think jogging or some other sports is great too.

I won't be effective if you are not practicing it daily.I won't take lot of time to do and initially it will look like difficult thing but once you made it as habit then you can feel the real change.

I meditate a lot, and it helps. There are lots of meditation techniques, too. Meditating while still makes the unwanted thinking worse for me.  But doing walking meditation? It's been the best thing I could start doing for myself.

Go to a nice place that has a nice scenery and view and go meditate there.

Sometimes it's also relaxing to listen to those music and songs that's likely to give peace to your mind. But for me if those things still doesn't work, having a cold drink would always give them that exact feeling.

When I started meditating it was a very difficult thing for me until I made it regular activities! I find it very difficult to meditate consecutively for a week on a daily basis but I have to force myself having knowing the importance of meditation. Today, it has become a habit to me and without meditating I hardly go out of the house.

It quite possible that the "unwanted thinking pattern" is from immoral spiritbeings while the righteous or moral thoughts are from the spirit of GOD which everyone has in him/her. The one in the middle who decides which voice to obey is probably the human soul.

My religion recommends reading the "words of GOD" regularly, repentance, righteous living, Fasting and prayers.
It works for me.

I don't do any kind of mind related exercise,all I do is just turn on the music with high volume which will make me refreshed sometimes but most time it will increase the thinking to somewhere else so it depends on how we control it.I heard that meditation will be really helpful for someone to be concentrate on their life goals but it needs the right ambience to practice it.

I totally agreed on this and indeed meditating and spiritual will free our mind and take away the unwanted thoughts ,in our life we must learn to separate problem over another problem and this mind control cannot be earned without meditating and spiritual presence

When we are doing it rightly and attains the relaxed state with full concentration then 10 to 15 mins of meditation is enough for a days and in the evening we may do it again if we got the time but the best time to do is at the time of sun rise.
