The issue is just the POGO and its all settled POGO stays just as always during the previous admins.

I don't understand why this news has created buzz when it's obvious that the government will never stop regulating this operation and the China has no control on the Philippines to stop this.

Philippines needs to improve their economy and they can only do that with the increase of tax collection, and this one is an opportunity so there's no sense they will let this stop just to facilitate the request of China. Philippines to be the gambling capital of the world seems to be possible in in the future because the government is very supportive and this is what gambling operators are looking for.
It is creating so much argument because of the way media has presented it. They make it look like the Chinese governments are bullying Philippines not minding or putting their existing relationship into consideration.

It is important for Philippine government to also try to grow their economy, legalizing gambling to avoid too many illegal gambling activities hereby collecting taxes from the gambling operators will not also be  a bad idea. I believe if this was done, china wouldn’t intrude into their activities to ban gambling because they would see that gambling  as a source of blessing rather than how it is being seen now.

That's how corrupt the politician in the Philippines, they have their own group of media who always go against the current administration, therefore people should be aware of this bad publicity because they if they will look deeper, they won't have to complain since this business is bring a lot of money to the Philippines through tax, and that's necessary to improve the economy of the Philippines.

The Philippines was already humiliated with how the S China Sea issue is turning out, getting rid of an entire income stream just to appease the Chinese government would make it a laughing stock.
The West Philippine Sea issue is different and nothing to do with this one. How did you know that the Philippines is "getting rid of an entire income" on the West Philippine sea? Do you have insider that tells you what is happening?

Read my sentence again. I said the Philippines has already humiliated itself over the S China and getting rid of another income stream (aka online gambling) simply coz China asked it is further humiliation.

I don't know about Philippines, but China is becoming (if it not already is) the country of censorship and bans.
This is usually bad for the consumers since they are left with fewer choices.

Now... there could really be some danger and the banning is planning to protect the consumers, but China doesn't have the brightest past.
I do not understand what you mean by china not having a bright past but they at least their economy is growing and favorable to their residents and  they are about to make warnings and decisions because of the standard they have built. This is what I expect Philippines to also think of doing.

In my opinion, I don’t see anything wrong with the decision of china, if the Philippines find it offensive, then they should work on their economy also but as long as they are still below china, they should find a way to make their system better and also dependable rather than corrupting what has been built by another, I am in support of china in this case

You cannot expect something different from a Communist Country’s mate

People are deprived by many things and only governments and those closest to them are having a good return

This same reason why Chinese chooses to live in another countries than on their own homeland, look how Chinese people scattered the world with dominance, and a trivia that only Chinese people is can be seen living in almost every part of each countries, just like in my mother land that I have been seeing Chinese even in those places that considered as provinces lol

How can that happen when the officials that give permits are all corrupted? Those bastards will definitely defend it that it helps contribute to the country by paying taxes. And if online gambling will be banned then the casinos will be petitioned to be ban as well which is never going to happen. I even saw in the local news that investment scams apply for a gambling permit and those Chinese can get it easily.

Maybe the Government is not looking at the Ban in China but looking at the opportunities that this could bring to the Philippines. According to a news report by CNN, the salaries paid to POGO employees are now higher than those who are in BPO's other wise known as call center agents. Also demand for office space also increased specially in Metro Manila area and Metro Cebu.

A ban is unlikely and if ever there is an effort for a ban it will pass through congress and it will take some time to amend the gambling laws and besides the government have received billions of pesos from online gambling which is a very huge help with the current administration ambitious build, build, build program.

Exactly, they are benefiting from POGO, so it's unlikely for the government to ban it.
Billions of money collected from POGO will help a lot for a developing nation like the Philippines and I'm pretty sure Philippines is aware of the gambling ban in China but the law that govern the Philippines is different from China, so Philippines enjoyed the benefit of the gambling ban from China.

Also, I think it will not help only foreign workers as they could also hire filipinos in their business, which means it opens an opportunity to increase employment opportunity and I think the salary is also attractive.

POGO operators plan to hire more Filipinos (old news though).

The Philippines needs the money and the influx of these Chinese operating online gaming and not to mention the yen that they are pouring in the economy is good for the country, the only bad side is, these Chinese don't have respect to local ordinances, these Chinese should be given a lesson not to mess with local authorities or they will face deportation.
I think there should be a department set up for this by the regulators to make sure that they are going to respect local ordinances and abide in the laws here. We will see more Chinese coming in now because they find doing business here is great.

What do you guys think about China urges to ban all online gambling in Philippines?. One of their reason is that "The embassy said many of the Chinese citizens working illegally in Philippine casinos or POGOs and other forms of gambling entities are subjected to what media described as modern slavery due to severe limitation of their personal freedom and also Beijing welcomed the suspension of the issuance of new licenses for Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGO).
I read that it contributed to the local economy of the region where they operate, so I doubt if the Philippine government will comply, the Philippines has become the biggest destination of these Chinese imagine they also take up jobs as construction workers, soon we will see more Chinatowns in the Philippines.

The Philippines President has already provided the Chinese government his response to the calm that their country rules and regulations about gambling are not accept in the Philippines. Mind you, their government are getting enough fund from the tax paid by the gambling company and I don't know why the Chinese government cant accepts gambling which was one of the best passive income for a country like Curacao.

Correct, Online gambling contributes P551 billion to Philippine economy yearly.

So it does make sense that the Philippine government will continue to operate gambling as part of a revenue generated program for them.

They could cooperate hunting down illegal online casino's though operated by the Chinese in the Philippines, like this one, Bitcoin Pishing Scam Goes Wrong.

If they have to stop gambling, they should stop the local lottery as this affects the life of the Filipino, especially the poor ones.
With POGO, Philippines just become a gambling hub as Filipinos are not allowed to gamble, so it's a great source of income without destroying the life of the poor gamblers.

Philippine Lottery has been here fore decades of more, the governments needs to study the effect of that lottery to the majority of the bettors, if it has a bad effect, they ban it and focus on growing the POGO as it brings more money to the government.

Just seen this news, never thought that I've been on a vacation for too long and missed out this kind of news. Why does it seems like China is ordering the Philippine Government? This is absurd if you'll ask me, beside after that Island issue here on the Phillipines now they're urging us to get rid of those Casinos?

Fuck those Chinese.

We've been on that kind of nature for a long time so quitting would be not an option. Not only the government does getting the benefits from it many citizens are also making a living with these casinos.

...soon we will see more Chinatowns in the Philippines.

That was a pretty shitty move for them to slowly conquer us again. If that happens, our countrymen will not accept that having so many places for the chinese shits.

That's what I really don't like about them ordering Philippines to do what they want. They should be more responsible with their fellow citizens if they don't want any chinese people that will be involve in illegal business and doings. If they really want to do it then it's better that they'll do it in their country and leave Philippines out of it.

^ Nah, they won't. Country of the Philippines can stand by their own feet and no one dictates by them. After having trouble on Island that the Chinese ship vessel sinks the Philippines vessel I don't know if they will agree regarding on closing online casino just for their own sake. Online gambling casino gives a good revenue in the country of the Philippines and I think this could help the economic growth.

Indeed, and besides this is our nation they don't have any rights to say what we must do here. Its our own issue so they'd better stay out of it even if they say that it is their own fellow chinese, the fact that their butts are here in the Philippines they can't possibly do anything about it.

I really do hate countries like that, do they really think they're superior? If it is then these Chinese are good as shits.

If the Chinese are so much against gambling, then they should first ban the casinos in Macau (which is officially a part of China). They can't become hypocrites by allowing gambling in some of the regions under their control and then asking for a ban on the practice in foreign nations. And it is not just Macau. Many of the countries in South-east Asia have become hotspots for Chinese gamblers.

The gambling industry is a humongous industry and the best these guys can do is bring this under some control in their justificationto avoid gambling addiction and not going all out to ban this all together out of their control.

Besides Chinese casinos are now finding themselves all around the world which says something about the industry and how the are benefiting from it.
