Today, I came over some translation spam in our local board: http://archive.fo/iAHJX

The funny thing: his translation is so bad and says: "...Das heißt Dies ist nicht nur ein weiterer Betrug, sondern ein Projekt mit einer vorgefertigten Infrastruktur und Community...."
Means in English: "...This [project] is not only one more scam, it's also a project with a prefabricated infrastructure and community..."  Cheesy

So I checked if it's indeed a scam like he's "claiming" (most likely unintentionally due to the bad translation) and when I visited their website it seems quite clear:

Yeah, trustworthy guys.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Website: https://www.minter.network/
Archive: http://archive.fo/QB95l
(was also archived 10 Months ago: http://archive.fo/rwqsh)

But when I was digging deeper, I found some real people behind it on ICO-Holder and their LinkedIn profiles seems to be real. I'm giving them the benefit of doubt for now but what's your opinion? Is it just another shitcoin or is it outright scam?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I have participated in the Minter airdrop campaign at the very beginning of their startup. Approximately a year ago. That time they have been giving 1100 BIP for registration and KYC. I got it in my wallet. Now it equals for around 120$. So, looks like normal guys, don't them? BIP is already at the exchange platform: https://bip.dev/

Ok, did they launch it here on Bitcointalk or do they have an official profile here / Bitcointalk ANN? Looks like it's a legit project but I'm a bit confused why are they using cartoons on their website?  Cheesy
On ICOBench and ICOHolder they are using real pictures...

Using images of drawings / cartoons sounds like an interesting marketing idea but mostly this strategy is used by scammers when they want to hide the real team. Here's a collection of some of them and I think the number of scams was / is quite high:
CARTOONS - Are you going to invest on these ICOs?

I won't invest a single Satoshi in such ICOs, only if they show the team via pictures / videos etc. or prove to be trustworthy otherwise.

On September 2, Minter launched a 6-week signature campaign on bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5181035 More than 100 participants have already decided to join it. But I wouldn’t trust them, because they hide their identities on their website and Whitepaper.

Indeed it is fishy to think how come they can't even give their true faces when in fact they give their real names?

it's trend nowadays )
Not that it trends but I guess it's formal to have their true identities revealed instead of hiding in some hero costumes. Anyways, the translator should explain if that's really an error or not as well as the team if it's from them or not.

It seems to me that this is quite creative. We know a lot of scam projects representing real photos of their team. And what we had in the future? We got the team's escape   and  investor's deception. The  Minter team gives to us really lively and activity  project. Their token has a price, now you can buy BIP, sell, delegate and receive passive income from this.

Ok, so they are active on the forum and I've asked them for an official statement to avoid misunderstandings:

Hello!

I was surprised why you are using cartoons as profile pictures on your website and my first thought was your project could be scam. On ICOHolder and ICOBench you are using real pictures and also show your LinkedIn accounts.
So I'm wondering why it's different on your website? Can you please explain it here to avoid any misunderstanding: Minter - just a normal Shitcoin or a Scamcoin?
And please avoid automated translations in local boards, it's against the rules. If you need a quality translation, do a bounty or ask in Services for real translations.

They seem to have a real team but not on their website, I don't know why.  Cheesy

if these are the real people behind Minter, then why in the world they are using anime or cartoons people might think this is a big joke, if you are doing crowdfunding, then it's just proper that you show up your real face and their expertise, it will be ok if they are not asking for KYC or Crowdfunding, they can prefer to not show their face.

Well, their website is most likely the first place where potential investors are starting their research and I've no explanation why they don't use real pictures on that most important place especially because they are using real pictures on other sites.
I think you're right that it's not a scam, so to get back to the question "Just a normal Shitcoin or a Scamcoin?" I would say "Just a Shitcoin" for now.

if these are the real people behind Minter, then why in the world they are using anime or cartoons people might think this is a big joke, if you are doing crowdfunding, then it's just proper that you show up your real face and their expertise, it will be ok if they are not asking for KYC or Crowdfunding, they can prefer to not show their face.
Yes, exactly that. Everyone knows about the high number of scammers in ICO business. The first thing I would do as ICO company is bringing clarification about the team. When people see cartoons, they will considering it as shady immediately, stopping research and moving on.

I've also checked it and there's a proof that its real people working on the project, I'm surprised that there is a thread here in this section about Minter, I prefer to promote this project because I believe in what they are bringing to the table, I also been part of project that has an accusations on this section although plain accusations but they are doing good in their roadmap but not in the market.

One hundred percent of the next scam from Russia.
The creators of this project were already participants in the deception in the past and the year before last (DeCenter).

There is even an investigation on this subject, but unfortunately many of the forum participants are ready to sell their reputation for the money that scammers give them.

In Russian but great investigation https://medium.com/golden-borodutch/%D1%87%D0%B5%D1%81%D1%82%D0%BD%D1%8B%D0%B9-%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%B7%D0%BE%D1%80-ico-minter-dd708bab5db6

We are surrounded by legends on this bitforum. Phenomenal successes and catastrophic failures guys. Then there are the scams.
This forum is a digital museum for future.

One hundred percent of the next scam from Russia.
The creators of this project were already participants in the deception in the past and the year before last (DeCenter).

There is even an investigation on this subject, but unfortunately many of the forum participants are ready to sell their reputation for the money that scammers give them.

Although written in Russia I've used Google translation to translate it and if this is the case somebody should open a scam accusation on this project or confirm that it has the potential to become a scam and also create a flag, so many people are now promoting this project, it could be to late.

Interesting article and although I haven't read it completely I would advise everyone to read that article who's interested to invest in Minter. If it's true that they had past projects and are moving on now to collect more money and do the same thing again that would be a strong scam indicator...

For everyone: I've translated the conclusion but for more details it's recommended to read the article completely:

Conclusion

The idea may seem very interesting, it would seem: here it is, a blockchain for housewives - but not everything is so smooth. The intermediary in the form of a BIP wallet will create difficulties in the form of additional actions for both customers and sellers who will have to advertise a BIP wallet, and in case of unforeseen problems, install and configure it for customers on the phone. And each time the seller will check with customers the availability of the wallet and the address for sending coins. It’s easier for people to use cashback cards.

In IT projects, there will not be such difficulties because of the automation of the process, but it is more profitable for founders to create non-convertible wrappers than to invest their money in BIP to create a coin whose price will depend on another token. There is no obvious demand for users, only the creation of a bicycle.

Investors have no guarantees that there is no backdoor in the BIP token smart contract. The team talks a lot about its transparency, but does not show the main thing - the smart contract code, which can be full of errors and backdoors, as is the case with the hacking of the Bancor exchange .

And finally, let's name the eleven red flags of the Minter project:

- The far-fetched nature of the problems solved by the product.
- Lack of UTP before direct competitors - ETH and EOS.
- Strong centralization of the platform and token sale.
- There are no smart contracts, they hope for a non-public product TON.
- Unprofessional behavior of the founder with investors.
- The founder, not fulfilling past promises, gives new ones.
- Too few programmers for a product of this size.
- Lack of team responsibility to investors.
- Lack of information on risks taken by investors.
- A few signs of securities are the “Utility” token.
- Investors are not investors, but buyers of a non-working product.

In January 2016, Evgeny Gordeev founded the cryptocurrency community DeCenter . In July 2017, he announced an ICO on behalf of the community, and as a result, it resulted in postponements, failure to fulfill promises , loss of respect from the community and refusal to conduct ICOs .

I can send you 100 BIP for testing this "a non-working product".
You can sell it (for example here https://minter.1001btc.com/en/) or delegate in some validator (choose it here https://minter.stakeholder.space/validator/overview/) and get about 0.5% a day (it is decreasing)

- A few signs of securities are the “Utility” token.

It was his decision because they use DPOS and delegators get revards. A lot of coins use it and what?

....

a lot of coins does not solve all problems and not so good as ETH and EOS are and what?

"and what" so on for every line

Egordeev is a product in DeCenter, as he claims in his telegram channel https://t.me/egordeev

I am also interested if decenter.me and decenter.org somehow connected. I am also Minter participant from the ICO.
