Merit source growth history, if you know it, please help me

Hi all bitcointalkers,

I made a thread on One year anniversary of merit system months ago, but today I came back to edit it a little bit.
I decided to add a new section for Merit source history, then I missed at least one important point, that painted in Red. If you know when it happened, please help me, and correct me if I posted something incorrect.
This one:

It is important to emphasize that this wave happened before the day I made that thread, on January 24, 2019, 03:11:36 PM.

History of merit sources:
1. 24/01/2018: 35 merit sourcess

Does that mean all merit sources are hand selected?

Right. There are about 35 right now.

2. 26/01/2018: 49 merit sources

I was checking merit stats and found that there are now 49 merit sources:

There are 49 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 9025 sMerit per 30 days

Initially there were 35 announced and I noticed 1 or 2 people nominating. How come we have an additional 14 in one day ?

I added more.

By no means is the set of merit sources or their sMerit/month static. I will be adjusting it a lot as needed, especially in the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if there are 100-200 sources in a year from now.

3. 01/03/2018: 57 merit sources in total

This number is much larger than 11975 sMerits, which are currently created by 57 merit sources per month.
The sMerits created by 57 merit sources are not sufficient and most of used sMerits were initially assigned ones.

4. Rose to 123 merit sources in total (not sure when ??)

5. 15/3/2019: Increased to 130 merit sources
This wave happened simultaneously with Vod's remove as a merit source

If I remember correctly, there were 123 Merit sources yesterday. One dropped out:

Theymos has responded to my request to be removed as a merit source.  No more working for free. 

I think theymos took the opportunity to process new Merit source applications, there are now 130 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 20605 sMerit per 30 days.

I have recorded these figures and dates :

22/12/2018 : 120 merit sources for 22055 smerits
05/01/2019 : 123 merit sources for 20735 smerits
06/02/2019 : 122 merit sources for 20835 smerits
15/05/2019 : 130 merit sources for 20605 smerits
27/06/2019 : 131 merit sources for 21045 smerits

Dates may not be exactly accurate.

I do not know what is the benefit of establishing lists of merit sources as the origin is to be unknown in order not to be harassed.
Also, the distribution of Merits to users varies depending on members and place of activity.

06/02/2019 : 122 merit sources for 20835 smerits
15/05/2019 : 130 merit sources for 20605 smerits

I think that the stability of these numbers, despite the addition of sources is because Vod was a source with thousands of Merits, so removed it required the inclusion of 4 or 5 sources with 200 Merits.

Hmm... He's red tagged for me due to my customized trust list. So, can someone confirm it was just those 3 and not 4 (from 119)?

He has red trust on DT2. That doesn't mean he can't be a good merit source, he just had red trust for years from someone who was recently added to DT2.

There were 120 merit sources for a while already.

Let me help you a little, I had some early records, but unfortunately no dates.
Anyway here what I have as info >

I just saw now that the merit sources are 77 now. This s a big increase from 57.

Looks like theymos is staking out applications and then approve them all together at once. This happened with the previous applicants , from 49 to 57.

OK, let me add some calculations too then.

We stated with 35 Merit Sources (MS for short) on the first day of the Merit system.

On 26th Jan. were already 49 MS. /reference/
Today they are 57 MS.
So for one month from 35 till 57 this is 22 new sources, awesome but...

14 were added for 1 day, so we exclude them to be more realistic /see the reference link above/

Then there are minimum around 8 new MS added per Month!

Since this is the first and only month till now and the data is not enough, we need to give more time to the system to actually see how it is working.
Now it's just speculations.
