Recently I've heard someone's speech about keeping BTC on the exchange is not safe. But the same thing may be fair to other types of wallets — it's all about the pros and cons, isn't it?
There must be a comparison based on the number of incidents, statistics, etc.
I mean, ok, let's consider this article as a detailed guide for different types of wallets — there's an explanation, principles of working, advantages and disadvantages — but how do you actually know, which wallet will be safe? How did you choose your current wallet?

Where do you keep crypto? Have you ever been stolen?

They say it is unsafe to store your cryptos on Exchangers , i bet it is because unfortunately a friend of mine  lost his balance on Hitbtc amounting to 4000k ,it was hacked. Luckily i have not experienced any of this. I have losses investing on  lending schemes way back 2018 and i will never attempt to go with those kind of investment schemes.
Same thing happen to me in c-cex exchange before way back 2016  my account has been hacked not only exchange account but the email include in the hack. I have balance in exchange that time if I remember around 0.3 BTC it's just sad to think my BTC  is worth so much now.

I have not personally experienced this situation like i lost my btc and i am thankful for this that it never happended with me.But i have heard from others like they deposit their btc in exchange and are unable to withdraw them due to scams or hackers attacking their online wallets and have access to private keys and btc are lost forever. So its better to preserve your coins in cold storage where no one have access to because its really hurt when you suffer this situation. So be safe as scams are always there.

It's quite easy to decide which wallet to choose if you know how cryptocurrencies work.
To keep it short, any wallet whose private key you own is considered to be safe.
For example, in case of bitcoin, there are many wallets like Mycelium and Exodus that gives you the ability to store your private key.

Oooh this is an interesting topic, why countries are so struggling with cryptocurrencies, I recently read an article on neironix, about regulation at different state levels, and indeed there were a lot of relevant articles on this neironix

I am involved in cryptocurrencies since 2017 and have kept my crypto assets in different wallet. I have securely placed keys of all my crypto wallets and never lost my funds to hackers. Although I never lost my funds from any of exchange wallets still I do not recommend it to keep your funds for a long time. I am currently using myetherwallet, metamask and another wallets and never lost funds from any of these wallets. I think if you do not share your private key and keep your system free from miscellaneous softwares, there is no chance that anyone can hack your wallet.

I trust to the wallst if I saw a lot of user have a lot of good feedback and only few negative.  Also they opererated more than few years like maybe they started like 2016 maybe Incan trust them. Now it's hard to build a trust to the new waller because they will going stole our bitcoin once we keep our bitcoin to the new wallet but Ive never experience to stole my bitcoin because Im careful where did I keep my coins such as bitcoin.

there are some unsafe exchanges for storing bitcoin, I have experienced that there is often a login in my exchange, I know because there was a notification in the email, fortunately I don't have a lot of bitcoin in the exchange, if you want secure bitcoin storage you can use Ledger Nano.

never been stolen but about losing a few coins i have experienced them because at that time some of the coins that i had were saved in one of the exchanges just to make it more practical and not cost too much. this is about an option and i still have a local exchange which so far is safe and good for saving several altcoins and for the most part i only use a wallet application that at least the user can save a private key

of course that right. every single action we do , have a pros and cons. even if u choose to sleep.
about saving your BTC on exchange , well, it depend what kind of exchange you choose.
basicaly, the exchange have the responsibility to protect their customers' funds, as long as the customer does not make an external mistake, the exchange guarantees that all internal problems are their responsibility.
but sadly, on crypto sphere, some exchange can be wild animal, wich take all of costumer funds.
how do you actually know, which wallet will be safe? How did you choose your current wallet?
Where do you keep crypto? Have you ever been stolen?

i choose wallet by rating from veteran people on crypto world, and rating by exchange have a high trust.
on nowdays, i put 70% of my funds on exchange wallet, for do some day trading, and the rest,i put on mobile wallet and i never touch it for long time.
yes I have , on 2016 when my email got hacked and all of my balance on exchange get stolen , since i never using 2FA on that time.

I have lost some crypto but it wasn't BTC .
It was back on my first ever try on DEX,
I thought it was just like CEX and I tried to create an account (connect a new wallet) then I sent some erc20 tokens and leave.
Then I tried to open it on a different PC but I forget to save the private key I only have the Public key .

Where do you keep crypto? Have you ever been stolen?
From the start I started to enter crypto and own Bitcoin, I'm thankful it was never stolen. I am always careful in surfing the internet by always checking the web address and contents. Because the hacker could have made a phishing site to take our private keys money. So, it's better to save and use carefully Private keys and passwords when entering a website.

Yes, one time, when Bitfinex was hacked. I had actually been holding ETH on there. Not all of my crypto but a chunk that was very painful to lose. I had only been holding it on there for a week and was already thinking I should get it off now because it's so dangerous holding it on an exchange. That happened to be the week that Bitfinex was hacked and tons of their customers' BTC was stolen. They repossessed 100% of my ETH to pay back the people that lost their BTC and gave me "Bitfinex tokens" or whatever they were called. Saying that it was their goal to make them worth $1 one day and thus repay everyone but for now they could be open sold on the market. So I didn't trust that Bitfinex would stay solvent and sold them at $0.30, which resulted in a 70% total loss of funds. Better than nothing.

Bitfinex did end up coming through on their promises but I'm staying away from them forever since that incident. My own fault anyway, I knew well enough that leaving stuff on an exchange is high risk.

nope i am not a victim of stolen Bitcoin but i have lost some amount because of my diligence ,i have mistakenly sent BTC in my ether wallet because of copy pasting so thats my foolishness actually
but saying not to let your crypto stays in exchange?yes thats perfectly say because those platform are vulnerable from the bad elements here and mostly becoming a victim of hackings so for you to keep safe the bitcoins better let it stay in your wallets

I've never lost bitcoin because I make sure my wallets and passwords are properly protected to prevent hackers who want to steal but my friend already lost some money because of scam exchange sites

I never lost Bitcoin because of hackers or scam exchanges, but I was deceived several times by ICO scams. I once invested a few mBTC but the ICO turned out to be a scam and turned off investors' money, certainly many have experienced this besides me.

ICO so far has been very disappointing, it's safer to join in IEO.

It's quite easy to decide which wallet to choose if you know how cryptocurrencies work.
To keep it short, any wallet whose private key you own is considered to be safe.
For example, in case of bitcoin, there are many wallets like Mycelium and Exodus that gives you the ability to store your private key.

I have never used mycelium, but I have experience using exodus. I can say that this is a fairly convenient and reliable wallet. In principle, most other people also respond positively to exodus. https://revain.org/wallets/exodus - but here you can see some negative reviews. This does not surprise me at all. People always have different opinions. I believe that these wallets are reliable to a certain extent. But if possible, then I would rather choose a hard wallet. All the same, at the moment, this is one of the best ways to save your money. You may have only few crypto, but who knows how much they will cost in the future.

Honestly, i have never experienced losing my funds or bitcoin because i keep all of my funds in a safe place, and i am using a ledger which is a hardware wallet that you can also used it through offline, that is why it will be difficult for hackers to access in this kind of wallet.

Honestly, i have never experienced losing my funds or bitcoin because i keep all of my funds in a safe place, and i am using a ledger which is a hardware wallet that you can also used it through offline, that is why it will be difficult for hackers to access in this kind of wallet.
apparently i have being scam several time in exchange, casino and personal trade. I might made stupid decisions but that all for the process of learning. lol. i lost a lot of money on trading altcoins and now i start from the underground again.
