Well!! I have been hearing these terms over the last few years, more importantly I just wanted to know the clear picture of these two terms.

Can anyone explain what is virtual currency and cryptocurrency, both are same??

This article is enough to answer your question
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/v/virtual-currency.asp

I think just do a little effort to search anything on the internet before you ask that here.

There was no a lot of differences but in my opinion, the protocol that already used in both are different.

Virtual and crypto are still the same as unregulated currency.

There's already a concept and idea if we tell people about cryptocurrencies. It's more about virtual tokens and decentralized currencies. While with virtual currencies, it's like the US dollars virtually.

Same goes with other fiat money/local currencies on virtual. At the end of the day, I agree with him that there's not that much difference between the both and we can say both of them are our own convenience and base on our own valid explanation.

In simplest term, Virtual currency is neither issued by the government nor is it regulated by the government.

while  Cryptocurrency uses digital cryptography to enable a distributed ledger over the internet, and thus creates a type of money that resembles an unofficial fiat currency.

This article might also help you in checking their differences in a deeper way: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/v/virtual-currency.asp

you have answered it all. thanks but this thread has gotta be reported as spam actually. OP knows exactly what all these but just want to spam that coinpedia which he linked in the post. if i were a moderator here, i would have delete this thread already. no one is subscribing their cryoto news site so they have to spam bitcointalk for this is where the real traffic are when it come to crypto.

Oh god, 2019 there are still topics like this. Is not everyone before entering this space will search for everything on the internet first. Use your internet @OP well, to do some research first. If you do not find it in Google search then you better just stop here.

Honestly I do not understand what you are asking about this, Because, in my opinion questions like this will usually be asked by people who are new to the world of crypto, I see your rank as a jr member, so, I think you have long been in this forum, so of course you understand what virtual currency and crypto are, it is not wrong to create a topic in a forum but it's good that the topics can be a useful discussion and can keep this forum free of spamers, I think you actually already know the answers of your own questions before the make questions that seem silly like this.

In general virtual currency is something that includes 2 things.
Digital money which is digital regular money and something that is called e money which is something with what operates some online businesses like PayPal. Both are different and are regulated differently.
Crypto currency is something completley different, it is not regulated YET and in some cases is decentralized.

what makes crypto interesting is that it is a type of currency that cannot be regulated by the institution and therefore the security must be regulated by yourself so that your funds in the crypto remain safe. for the problem of an explanation of digital currency (crypto) is quite a lot on the site, we only need to search for keywords to find understanding of crypto

Virtual currency is a simulated currency. Meaning it does not have the properties of money. An example is virtual currencies in games such as World of Warcraft, Maplestory, Runescape. The supply is controlled by the game company, they decide when to issue more or sometimes not as bugs create duplication.

Digital currency has all the properties of money, while existing on the internet. The terminology sounds very similar and i noticed that people in the Crypto space tend to use these two terms interchangeably, but in reality the difference is significant. Blockchain currencies are closer to "real money" like gold than fiat currencies. Fiat is closer to a virtual currency as they are no longer backed by gold and the circulation amount can be changed by the issuer.

They do not actually have much differences, but look the quote below if you are interested.
Quote
Difference between Digital, Virtual, and Crypto Currencies
Digital currency is the overall superset that includes virtual currency, which in turn includes cryptocurrencies. Compared to virtual currency, a digital currency covers a larger group that represents monetary assets in digital form.

Digital currency can be regulated or unregulated. In the former case, it can be denominated to a sovereign currency — that is, a country’s central bank can issue a digital form of its fiat currency notes. On the other hand, a virtual currency often remains unregulated and hence constitutes a type of digital currency.

Cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and ethereum are considered to be a part of the virtual currency group. A cryptocurrency uses cryptography technology that keeps the transactions secure and authentic, and also helps to manage and control the creation of new currency units. Such cryptocurrencies exist and are transacted over dedicated blockchain-based networks that are open to the common public. Anyone can join and start transacting in cryptocurrencies.

I think just do a little effort to search anything on the internet before you ask that here.

OP is not asking anything here. he just opens up these types of nonsense topics to share the link to that website, whether it is his own website or he gets paid to advertise it like this is unclear though!

Its pretty obvious right? he's not curious about it he just wanted to make people click that site and he's not interested for all of the information you are giving. Maybe its a form of advertising and it usually happens in this forum, most of them really think that people is stupid enough to click it without even thinking about the possible things that might happen. Well its his choice, let's just understand and respect it since maybe some of you are a bit curious about it too.

In my opinion is the same, because cryptocurrency is a digital currency or can be called a virtual currency because it is on the internet is not real and can not be held by hand.
So the conclusion is the same in the virtual for payment or another.

I did my research since I also got curious and at the same time, got confused about the terms. Digital currency has two major forms; virtual currency and cryptocurrency. Virtual currency is only used for a specific community where it does not have real-life value. While cryptocurrency has real value. Both of them are digitally in nature, which means they don't have physical form. I don't know if this will help and enlighten op or the others. https://study.com/academy/lesson/digital-virtual-currencies-definition-types-forms.html

Basically online money that can be divided into centralised, like Ripple or decentralised like Bitcoin, Ethereum or Litecoin. Generally speaking, crypto is kind of virtual currencies, because online banking is a virtual money transfer as well.

This chart represents the core of the article embedded by OP. cryptocurrency that we know today is generally included in the definition of convertible-decentralized Virtual Currency. By using the Blockchain permissionless technology as the basis for its implementation, the cryptocurrency server is replicated, spread with a key chain per block, which is technically very safe. as a convertible virtual currency, bitcoin and altcoin are very potential to be used as trading commodities and investment assets.
