That's the effect of the market's volatility. During this situation, it's better if you'll look for other ways to earn because some projects are just waiting for the market to recover. Even bounty projects these days are affected by the bear market. However, there are still freelance companies who are offering promising rewards and payment so you could still find good projects on the internet.

I think it's because many people don't know about it yet; I mean they don't know of the possibility of paying freelancer with Bitcoin.
I have seen where people get paid in bitcoin to do certain freelance work but this work don't usually comes from freelancing sites. It's mostly an agreement with two people.
OP, if you can set up a site that accepts freelancer for Bitcoin payment like the mentioned above, it will be a good think. Just market it vigorously to draw attention.

I'm a person who would like to do some work for Bitcoin, so I monitor freelancing sites occasionally, and at this time I feel like the freelance market in Bitcoin is nearly dead. The Services board is 99% listings of services rather than people who are looking to buy some; XBTfreelancer is empty or has 1-2 projects most of the time; cryptogrind has mostly just ridiculously underpaid projects or again service announcements (shouldn't they be banned there?), and there's also not much available projects overall; workingforbitcoins has very little traffic, just a few projects per month.

It was theorized that Bitcoin will help alleviate poverty by allowing people to work online without any restrictions, but on practice this just isn't happening. In your opinion, what is the reason for this?

I do remember some of those freelancing sites before. XBTfreelancer is the most popular as they were running an advertisement or a signature campaign here in btalk. Before there were also many ICO that focused on freelancing and if I am not mistaken, they're all gone.

Bitcoin can only be an instrument for people work online free from restrictions but it can never provide guarantees. There are less crypto projects compared to the last years because of the market bear trend and there are already too many projects created with the same goals.

That's just a silly assumption. Those who don't understand economics and finance always make such empty statements. Bitcoin really has no value and it only goes up due to sharks pushing prices.
Bitcoin trading or mining bitcoin is not sure to help people get rich because the market is always looking for risks. Many people even go bankrupt due to trust in bitcoin and hold it.

The thing is people are over-crowded in the forum. Individuals with little experience are creating agencies but in turn aren't able to provide satisfactory results to projects, hence projects stopped looking for freelancers in forum or other places you are mentioning. Most of the projects these days hire individuals on referral basis by taking recommendations from others rather than searching in public. So what you can do is, improve the quality of service you provide, make connections, even do some projects for free if you think it will help you to get more work in future.

In my opinion its not going to die, freelancing just slowed adoption due to bear market conditions. But before during the market was healthy the freelancing ecosystem was quiet healthy too and lot opportunities offered for job seekers. Nowadays it’s quiet rare but I’m confident that it will be back to normal once the market recover.
I also believe that bitcoin freelancing is not over. Way back 2017 freelancing is very effective to obtain profit but because of the bearish market, the process has been slow down. ICOs have almost shutdown that is why freelancing is not been effective right now however, there are still projects that are worth to work with but it is quite rare. Bearish market has been a big impact on Bitcoin freelancing that it goes to the point that trading, investment, and HOLD are the only effective way to earn a profit.

I don't think that bitcoin freelancing is dead. There is still a lot of opportunities out there for those freelancer who love to get their salary in mode of bitcoin. As long as you have a skill or skill set to offer to the market then you will get a lot of offers and after you get an offer, that is when you will negotiate to get your salary in bitcoin and not in cash.

Yes, btc freelancing seems dead. XBTfreelancer put some money in it's project to develop it and make popular but seems their plan failed, there is just not much demand on it and to be fair bitcoin freelancer websites are directly going to be opponent of firverr which is very difficult and also their SEO job seems very hard. Still you have to stick with fiverr and if you want bitcoins, convert it.

Also to answer your last proposal, bitcoin can't alleviate poverty and it's not hard to find work online, bitcoin has to do nothing with it. Bitcoin is just a payment method and currency at the same time which is very different, easy and accessible for most people. Does paypal give you restrictions? Or most part of other payment methods? I guess no.

It is sort of strange since we are at the point of economic cycle where employment should be maxed and there would be huge demand for workers. It makes no sense no one want Bitcoin freelance workers. Something is wrong. Maybe we are in a fake economic growth. Maybe it is just a bubble and there is no real economic growth behind it.

Better currency doesn't mean that suddenly people/workers were getting more skilled and can offer more services. If the mainstream freelance market is thriving while the bitcoin freelance market decreases, then we can say that bitcoin freelancing is dying.

If the answer is yes, then maybe:
- Paradigm-shifting from currency to an asset/commodity;
- Too much volatility, too slow, too expensive, hence not usable as a currency; and
- Fintech products offer more convenience.

Maybe bitcoin in freelancing now has bad times but I noticed that bitcoin became popular as e-currency. recently, I've been in some forum for programmers and I've been surprised that all people who sell soft prefer to take cryptocurrencies as payment method. In my opinion bitcoin has niches where it's convenient to use him, may that freelancing it's not way for bitcoin's or it's not good developed.

Could be because of the number of altcoins being created.

Try looking for a job online that pays with altcoins.
Some do pay with XRP and some with the unknown coins or not that popular yet.
It could also be because bitcoin is getting popular by now and holders of it may think that it is better to hold it than spend it paying online employees.
Just my theory though but of course it aint that accurate.

In your opinion, what is the reason for this?

I think I will say two things are responsible for that. One is that, when something is new, it creates a hype and people want to be associated with it, they cluster on it like bees. So, the first leads to the second. Therefore, because they have clustered on it, they available space because unavailable with time because of high demand.
That is what I think has happened so far. Some of those freelancing jobs could see be available but because many people like you are now in need of such jobs, it can't go round.

yes you are right since this bear market and the number of ICO scams we have lost freelancing. I usually also work on ICO projects and bounty campaigns to get extra income. or also trade altcoin. but these past few months I haven't done it because the crypto market is in bad condition. but I'm not desperate I will be patiently waiting for bitcoin bulls. when bitcoin bull I'm optimistic that most altcoin will pump. I hope this can be realized in 2020.

The industry has moved from a more open style to a much more professional style, previously during the ICO boom period, people often hired people in the service board or other sites.

Nowadays, these get rich schemes have died down and are no longer popular and it's become a real life job market with much more regulations - most people will just recruitment agencies and other platforms to hire now.

It's good for the industry, means we are starting to see crypto-based buisnesses be taken a lot more seriously, but it's bad for the community.

This is true, earlier days in this forum, a lot of projects look for people who would like to apply for a certain task or job, as time goes by projects' preference when looking for someone to hire becomes to high that it requires someone being a blockchain expert, or someone who has a certain experience or a professional. Also, not to mention just before the bear market there's a lot of successful ICO and there's a lot of job opportunites, when the bear market started the demand and fame of new successful project flopped.

I think that the number of freelancers who want to earn money in Bitcoins will increase significantly when the current bearish trend in the cryptocurrency market will be replaced by a bullish one. Freelancers are afraid, for example, that while they perform the order, for example within 1 week, the Bitcoin rate can significantly decrease and in fact they will receive a smaller fee for their work. I believe that the decrease in the interest of freelancers to pay for their services in cryptocurrency lies just in the bearish trend in the cryptocurrency market.

I've never really seen Bitcoin freelancing as separate from freelancing.

This. As simple as possible!

Just because there is a new payment method it doesn't mean there will be people asking for services
It won't happen with the freelance, with groceries, with the car industry, the market was already oversaturated with payment options and what is more important with people willing to do jobs!

One of the stupid theories we both agree is bs in the past.
It's the same thing as thinking just adopting bitcoin and Somalia ry will start producing racecars, satellites and 69 generation fighter planes.

Ok, you're allowed to work, BUT for who? If there is no demand for services, there is no demand for your work.
And while bitcoin can create a small improvement regarding fees and help those services become cheaper this tiny advantage was offset by the increased number of freelancers with internet access in poor countries compared to the minimal growth in demand from developed countries.

Yeah, and I think that's where the disappointment from people comes. They thought Bitcoin was going to open up new possibilities, new work, and yes, in theory, I suppose in terms of industry, there is more work these days, but more compliance roles needed for crypto-related business, more engineering jobs for coders and what not, but it's not exactly the way people thought it would be.

I'm a freelancer, and I accept Bitcoin.

Bitcoin didn't make me a freelancer.

And totally agree on all the other things. Bitcoin's not a magic disrupting tool. And even if it were, if people aren't really using it the way it was meant to be, then we'll not see things happen faster.

basically even casual online jobs paying in bitcoin can still be considered a freelance job.We can actually offer our skills and talents to someone in need. And in the process of negotiation, it is indeed a good decision to ask for the payment method to be in BTC. In this case, people who doesn't aware of what bitcoin is could be fascinated how seamless the transaction and at the sametime, we induces xrypto and bitcoin market adoption.

Bitcoin freelancing or doing such jobs in order to be paid by bitcoin will never been abandoned, why did you say that bitcoin freelancing is dead? Is it because you didn't see nowadays some people who are working and paying them through bitcoins? I still see some online jobs which are the payment is through bitcoin, I have a friend of mine that is working through online teaching and they are paying them through the used of bitcoin or cryptocurrency and I must say that this is a bitcoin freelancing.

BIG WINNER!
