Why do people easily get scammed on the internet?

it is not just about being greedy, it is mostly due to pump and dumps.
in other words everyone is greedy to some extent but when people look at the altcoin market and see a lot of pumps are taking place they become more confident that their assumptions for big profit is possible so they jump in to get involved faster and start making profit but of course the pumps can't last forever and these people always end up experiencing the other side of it meaning the dumps and end up losing money.
all of these are scams not because people lost money but because they were created to be pumped and dumped.

Pretty much how people get scam in real world. They exaggerate thier products or services to lure their victims who will find them hard  to resist. People should probably stop patronizing things they will not get compensated for or get replacement for when the are unsatisfied.
As regards conducting research before investing, I totally agree... unfortunately not everyone will be able to conduct research. I don't think they deserve to be scam for being careless. Wish the cryptocurrency community can self-regulate to help purge out most of the scams around.

scammers know how they can get the interest of their victim, newbies are easily attracted in a proposed way of earning easy money. Newbies easily bite their bait because they are expecting and hoping for a high return for their investment in a short period of time.
They don't even try to make a research to verify if their investment is safe or not.

Lack of knowledge, lack of technology, lack of experience... Greed is definitely a factor, yes, but so is lack of effort. People would rather be like 'it will be fine' than spend some time to research the project and educate themselves on recognizing scams.

One of the reason why some people get easily scammed is they are lazy on doing research about the certain cryptocurrencies or product. Well, the worst thing that you can do when starting up your involvement in crypto space is, entering without knowing anything. it's like going into a war without having any weapons with you., and its like digging up your own tomb. For you to be able to manage and survive, you need to be open with continuous  learning and research everything regarding cryptocurrency, trading. mining. investing and such so you won't end up losing all your assets because you got scammed. Thats one of the main reason the GREED most people are after with the easy money and big profit scheme thats why it was easily fall for those promises that offered a too good to be true ROI modus,  and it was repeatedly happen so i guess most people are not yet learn from the mistakes of others when i was scam in ICO in 2018 i promised to my self that it wont happen to me again thats why im very careful now in terms of investing in cryptocurrency specially in IEO.

Aside from what OP has said, computer and internet literacy is also one of the factors that affect the chances of getting scammed. There are several possible attacks online not by scammers, but by thieves. One example is through phishing, if one investor thinks a mock website made by a hacker is legitimate and made him input sensitive data such as private keys, thefts are made and it's one way to lose funds. Other factors also said by the OP is greed, mainly by luring the victim by advertisements that tricks the minds of investors to send funds, which are irreversible.

Just a promise from a group that something good will happen when you buy this or you would give some money.

Many of them will make it happen in the start but as it goes longer and you are investing larger then that is the time they run.

Indeed, humans are greedy. And since, many people have wrong connotations about cryptocurrency especially with bitcoin. Most of the public, the number of people that are not that so familiar with crypto, doesn't even know the difference between bitcoin and crypto. Not all don't even know that there are other coins such as alts that exists. That's why they can be easily scammed when they were told that this particular project is like "bitcoin but better". This false promises are the beginning of the scam then escalating to them investing in the wrong hands.

There are few comprehensive factors; such as greed and covetousness

Whenever an individual or group of people bring you ponzis idea in form of signals or investment site

More and more scammers are developing because new investors have also begun to emerge. This is the right target for scammers to launch their actions by making SCAM projects with high profits. New investors who are greedy and don't do research in advance will get into their trap. We all need to remain vigilant and do research in advance which projects will be followed, don't be fooled by scammers.
