I believe this is a problem for countries like mine, in my country the police have very limited resources, just for you to be aware the police in my country do not have adequate equipment, the police stations are very degraded and have no decent conditions, The salary is very low and the level of education is very low. It is a case to say that there is no very active e-crime fighting department with expert people. So you can already imagine that it will be complicated to go to complain to the police of my country

I can't say I understand the minds of the cops, but I'm sure they see bitcoin as something to be used in criminal activities because that's how they view the world.  Everyone they come in contact with is an actual or potential criminal and I have no doubt that most of them know about bitcoin and its links to drugs and other illegal things.

Who cares what the cops think, anyway?  Let them keep up their campaign of abuse and harassment and leave crypto alone.  Same thing for the politicians.

In my country the cops used to extort crypto miners by seizing their equipment and charging them with "terrorism funding" or some other bullshit. The courts always dismissed those charges, but miners were losing their precious time while their equipment was arrested, so it was cheaper to pay a bribe to the cops and keep mining. But now there's less news about it, and the central bank has softened their stance on crypto, so I assume cops don't bother miners as much as they did before.

Well in my country i don't know the specific rules  about the use of cryptocurrencies or probably i am not aware of that there are even some made. But i know there are offices that are registered in the country where people purchase cryptocurrencies so definitely i guess the country welcomes the idea of making transactions with cryptocurrencies. The police would definitely know what to do once there is any fraud regarding cryptocurrencies.

The police are still late in this information, in my opinion there is limited information in the whole world, but in my country little is known about cryptocurrency, and not so much talk, the police have a small world and do no function. The media knows to write some things about bitcoin, but this does not upset the public, as they think that what they do not use has no problem with it.
I think my country's biggest problem is that the 2006 constitution is still in use, so things like bitcoin have not shaken the public to change the law.

well there are some cases involving crypto that turns to be a scam and the involved is now behind Bars, though here only few scams are at place because people are educated about scamming and they cannot be victimized that easy.

but what i believe is cyber crime here has only a little charge but large scale estafa is another story.so i can still say that we are luckier than yours OP.

I think all law enforcement even in which country they had different tasks. Probably that was part of cybercrimes and there are some of them have skills regarding internet transactions tracing. Some of them are highly trained when it comes to cyber related cases just like what happened last month. "Police arrest hundreds over international child sexual abuse website". Nevertheless, there's no need to inform law enforcement in our country, if the numbers of unsolved cases are regarding cybercrimes they will find ways just to solve or hire people who is highly skilled on cyber hacking and programmer.

That's terrible these cops are just bully, instead of going after the cheaters they are extorting money from miners who hardly makes any profit due to market situation and also I believe we should be keeping our mining rigs away from public view and try mining secretly. In my country police are least bothered about crypto and don't have much knowledge about it.

Awareness of the government leads to the awareness of the police but I don't think they know how to take legal actions when a certain crypto is used in illegal transactions. Our police here is nothing compared to those Indian police. Since cryptocurrency is not yet well known in our country, no policy or anything against it or regulating has been made yet. It might look great if police knows how to deal with scammers and fraud here so that we can reduce the number of them and lessen the unfortunate events and victims that are just trying to trade and invest peacefully in here.

Training the police isn't enough.
Police need to obey the law, and the laws aren't ready to deal with those scams and criminal activities related to cryptocurrencies yet.

More time is needed, and politicians and the society need to get involved in the construction of the legislation

Cops have different way of thinking and level of perception so if they think that it can be a good opportunity for them to get benefits then they will literally grab it without even thinking, too bad that some of them aren't able to suffer the consequences of their actions. I just hope that the cops in my country are not like that even though they don't have enough understanding about digital currency because we do have some laws and people have to act reasonably, I also think that they won't bother ruining their own reputation because of that.

Huge problem this is for my own country, they hardly have interest in new technology which i believe that is why my country is lacking behind big time, cops in my country are not techy either, indian police are way ahead of the police in my country

I don't think that the police has to or need to know what crypto is just because some people are stupid enough to get fouled by some online scam, the law does not protect the idiots, in my country the law knows about bitcoin and crypto because a lot of people have been caught buying and selling drugs and other illegal things through the dark net, and that has set a bad reputation for it here, and because of that many people who are using it for good reason have stopped promoting it and talking about it because they would be suspected with using it for illegal things.

We barely here Bitcoin in the news, it only appears on the news because of wanted scammers that have used bitcoin to scam people
so I guess bitcoin has a negative reputation to police and masses.

It is completely based on the government duties and I don't know what we can do that to make the police.

Many people and even police also doesn't know about cryptocurrency much. They simply knows that cryptos used in darkweb deals and black-market deals. Those things needs be broken and everyone should know about it.

In some countries police can't even track direct deposits and who thinks about bitcoin. The problem isn't privacy because any scam/fraud is punished but problem is that crypto is hard to track. Some governments become good at it recently, countries where there is crypto business which includes exchanges and etc. And in countries where crypto is rarely used, no one cares about scams, government only warns you to avoid websites which look like fraud.

That's the norm here as well, they loved extorting miners because, unlike the typical drug traffickers, they were mostly unarmed "nerds" with "too much money for their own good". Indeed later the government did some regulation and ordered to stop the seizing of equipment, but the way things works here, it is not very reassuring unless you somehow have very good ties with someone in power.

Justice here is more about who you are friends/related to, and little about whatever the actions and the written law say.

There is a place where you are supposed to get a mining equipment import license, and exchanges are also supposed to register there and obey their rules, which of course the cops know nothing about, but if their superiors tells them to stop they do it (their superiors also get a portion of the spoils, so the unregistered people are "free game"). Doesn't necessarily mean you get spared if you are registered...

In my country, crypto scams are not investigated as well. Unless you use governmental facilities to mine cryptos or abuse the rules of paying for electricity in other ways, nobody seems to care. And yes, this means that people get scammed, and scammers get away with it. So when it comes to law enforcement, cryptos are mainly known in the context of illegally using electricity to mine it. Ironically, there are some articles about the police being caught mining cryptos using state-owned stuff as well Cheesy Oh, and apart from that, I saw one official (published on a governmental website) article about developing policies specifically for cases when people are kidnapped and the kidnappers demand money in BTC.

The same with our police but there's a specific agency of authority that's tackling about these frauds online. They are the cyber police and they're more educated and informed than the other policemen because they're dealing with these kind of scam schemes.

It's a combination of an IT police officer and other professionals that are dealing with technology.
