Admin will do nothing because when the forum was founded, it's intention was majorly to discuss bitcoin, not Ether or some other crap coin.

Your father or mother will always be your parent, you can not undo that... now put that into the Bitcoin/altcoin perspective. Bitcoin will always be the "Parent" of cryptocurrencies and i doubt its legacy will be overshadowed by the altcoins.

Major altcoins like ETH already have their own forums (https://forum.ethereum.org/) if the supporters feel their altcoin is bigger, then they will boost about it there.

You haven't set your definition of what 'take over' means, but bitcointalk will likely always be bitcointalk regardless of the performance of other coins. If you want an eth forum then you can go here: https://forum.ethereum.org

Uhh why would it even change lmao. This site aint some kind of bandwagon kind of site that literally goes to whichever place is the best to stay. A community has been built already about BTC and would stay as such for the next few years. Besides, the site already has a part where altcoins are discussed and should already be quite fine as it is right now.

Does it really matter if ETH will become more popular than BTC? No matter take over or popular or surpass or whatever you call it, ETH will remain an Alt. That is never going to change and so is Bitcointalk.

No, I never thought that the name BitcoinTalk would be changed someday to ethertalk or some other name. Even if ETH will overtake BTC once and that name"bitcointalk" won't be changed. Just because this name is not given on price, it means that this forum was created by  Satoshi Nakamoto only for Bitcoin. Also, Ethereum has its own forum site, so bitcointalk doesn't think there is any question of changing to another name.

There was a forum called Symbianize 10 years ago, it was a forum exclusively for people who talk about Nokia's latest OS and the other phone-related topics. Unfortunately, after the Nokia Company has fallen, the Android OS has taken over the popularity all over the mobile industry. So they change the name of the site now and it's called Mobilarian now. why Mobilarian? maybe if some new popular OS will pop up and take over Android OS, they will not change the name again because it's not necessary at all.

In the case of BitcoinTalk, that won't be necessary at all because Bitcointalk is from the creator of Bitcoin itself. By the end of the day, there hasn't been a case of a single Altcoins who manage to outprice Bitcoin let alone taking over of it's first and legendary forum. anyway as you can see Nokia hasn't changed its website to Samsung right? this is what you called solid truehearted company.

Let me allay your fears. There is so much space in space that we might not even notice the collision. Maybe a few more stars in the sky but we won't see them anyway inside our Dyson sphere. Well, not "we" really, some intelligent species of cockroaches more likely.

I'm far more worried about Altcoin Discussion seeping into Meta. This should be stomped out before it spreads like those cockroaches.

You haven't set your definition of what 'take over' means

I'm curious about that myself--does it mean its market cap on coinmarketcap.com?  Does it mean its fiat value?  What does "taking over" mean with respect to ETH and bitcoin?  And I get that this is a Meta topic, but I just want to say that ETH is not even close to being what bitcoin is.  The only thing it's done so far as I can see is to provide a platform for people to create scam tokens or tokens that don't fix any real problems.  I don't hate it as an altcoin, but come on.  It's not going to dethrone bitcoin anytime soon.

And no, OP, this isn't going to become a forum to discuss ETH.  You can't be serious with this thread, right?  I think I remember reading that Theymos made a concession when he created the altcoin sections and that there was a lot of discussion that they shouldn't even exist on the forum, since it's supposed to be all about bitcoin.  I might have some memories mistaken about that, but my impression is that Theymos isn't too keen on those altcoin boards to begin with. 

Not to mention that it would be basically spitting on satoshi's grave (so to speak) to change the focus of the forum to an altcoin discussion board.

And how do you imagine that? If ETH will take over Bitcoin, theymos immediately buys Ethereumtalk domain, deletes everything related to Bitcoin, including satoshi account and makes Vitalik as forum founder. Sorry, but it's not how everything works. Situation in the market isn't reason to change ideology and views. I just will give little analogy from football - if Real Madrid don't finnish first in league, their fans don't start to support Barcelona just because of that.

There won't be a new name, and ETH is not even the second, and never will, ever since they reversed the blockchain nobody trusts it anymore. AND, its blockchain is slow due to everybody else using it for things NOT eth, AND is very unsafe switching PoS... Next time a "hack" occurs they will (again) reverse those blocks and cause a major mess to all those tokens contracts whatever that become "undone" as well...

This forum was setup by Satoshi to talk about Bitcoin, other topics are secondary.

LOL. Bitcointalk was created by Satoshi and it is a dedicated forum to Bitcoin. Due to the interest that exists in other altcoins discussions about them are encouraged as well.
There are also other forums that are dedicated to altcoins. This one is not going to change the name as Bitcoin is the King of cryptos and it will be forever.

Lol,but bitcointalk.org is independent of Bitcoin, though it is owned by Bitcoin developers. How will Ethereum issues affect the forum when it's in no way tied to Ethereum?
Ethereum probably has its own forum/community just like some other Cryptocurrencies
