I also was greedy to sell when some of my coins hit high. now those coins are worthless.
In crypto world we should know when to buy but we should know when to sell even before buy.

Lesson learned.!!!

HODL was my main target when I entered this crypto thing, I was so addicted to holding any coins and tokens I buy or earned, today my portfolio is in 99% loss so where has HODL got me? nowhere, I've learned to keep taking profits when they are available no matter what.

The word HOLD can be used for potential altcoins like eth coins or coins 10 and above, if you are holding new coins then to hold you should consider it you have to update the project to know the progress if the project has no sign of progress, it is better to sell coins not to hold.
That's right, and the advice you say is something that is often done by everyone who already has experience in crypto, because they know which tokens or coins are good for holding them, because holding new coins or new tokens will be very risky to lose during the project not making good progress.

Old or new coins, it's up to you to see where's the potential and even the popular and the unpopular coins, you can still look at their potential, once you see the potential of the unpopular coins, you will have a decent return if that coin will indeed succeed in the long run.

It's the principle we are following as an investor, and since we never know the outcome, we are just gambling for its future, hence there's also a risk of losing.

not only for top coins, top coins can also have terrible drops,
if you hold too long and the market changes direction, hold is for people who truly believe in crypto space,
otherwise you can simply play midterm trading, because it is better and more effective.

If you are already on the HODL game it's better to keep holding even if you are in massive loss, I think the reason why many hate holding today is because they believe that another year like 2017 will come again but they aren't entirely well prepared, if not why the complains? A devoted holder will hold through the storm, no matter what

You can end up regretting your decision soon because I believe that another year like 2017 is around the corner, when was the last time that Bitcoin hit 15k? 3years ago I guess, so anything is still possible, every coins that have good use cases will recover once altcoin season begins

HODL is a viable strategy in my opinion. Most of my investment portfolio and my crpyto currency portfolio are both just meant to be as buy and hold strategy. I have a few red positions but overall my positions are pretty much green. If you don't have so much time to constantly keep doing research I would recommend to just hold the coins instead of trading too much. The transactions fees can be quite high.

Many hodlers are very rich people, who can be hardly fooled. They simply do not have time for trading. They have already invested in cryptocurrencies and simply wait when their altcoins and Bitcoin start going up. They know: crypto — is our future.

hold too long does not mean you are stupid, because generally everyone has different beliefs but maybe I can say if you have missed a golden opportunity to sell it. I mean while your coin has a high selling price, sell it immediately to get a good profit. Not only coins can make changes such as price movements, but as an investor you also need to make changes, especially selling when there is an opportunity and updating your portfolio with more viable coins.

In my opinion, altcoins are not very suitable for Hodl.  Hodl is Bitcoin.

Most alternative cryptocurrencies make sense to use to earn bitcoins (through trading).  The exception to this rule is top altcoins (Ethereum, Monero, etc.).

2018-2019 is a bear market for cryptocurrencies.  At the same time, altcoin holders have lost a lot more than bitcoin holders.

Sometimes the smartest decision is to sell an asset and take a loss.

What are you speaking about? This is a matter of chance and intellect. If you invested in bitcoin 3 years ago, when it was worth $ 3000, now you could sell it for $ 16000.
Hold would have worked in this case. However, if your investments are drowned in a heap of useless projects, then you yourself are to blame for the fact that your shitcoins remained at the bottom. You're just out of luck.

what about the development of the coin price you currently have? It may be worthwhile at that point that you sell some when the profits are good knowing that you have got your money back and a  profit. You can be proud of yourself for that. Usually the opportunity doesn't come twice, but anything can happen unexpectedly in this crypto industry.

Accepting the word Hold isn't a misstep as long as we probably am aware how to manage the market. We can hold our investments on the off chance that we need however we ought to likewise realize when to sell it. Noticing the market circumstance would be a major assistance for us. With respect to me, we should realize when to stand by and that is the point at which the market is in a correction period and simply sell when the bull run draws near. Holding on a lot to our confidence at times leads us to insatiability so we should know our cutoff points.

I never think that hold coin/token is the worse thing in cryptocurrency trading. There are many people who have the opportunity to make profits from the coins/tokens they hold, such as those who bought Bitcoin in 2016 and sold it in 2017.

It's up to you and you understanding, people do need a good research before doing so, lots of investors lose their investment after
holding coins that promise to be more valuable but instead lose it value and be forgotten, but from your point there are also manage
to be compensated after holding their assets for longer time frame, it's the about how you really understand everything.

To be very honest i like your holdings and most of them are really good projects with good products or services. Sometimes it is the luck factor and despite fullfilling all the market requirements still the price does not seem to grow for some projects.
I am also holding a few coins from couple of years that just seem to go down always and never changing direction but i think it is better to wait than taking huge loss.

I like to share my story being a crypto enthusiast, a trader and an investor at the same time.

So top 10 of my portfolio consist of the following based on my blockfolio.

1) Atlant
2) Edgeless
3) Centra
4) Humaniq
5) Matchpool
6) Lunyr
7) KIN
8.) FUEL
9) SONM
10)NPXS

Please tell me if I should still expect I will be profitable or just give up now already.
Hodl is good but only when you know you have the right portfolio of coins and those coins should be among the top 50 and your holding period should be atleast 2 to 4 years to really take advantage of the bull cycle and big gains.

These coins aren't worth to be hodl anymore.. Thier purposes aren't worth it. Even the trading volumes are worse. The best thing is to look for a way to dump them and find other better coins to hold.
Most of These coins are like using Siemens mc 60 to browse the Internet in year 2020.

I see in this list a lot of interesting, worthy projects, most of them have fallen very much in price relative to the original cost. Personally, I would not sell them at a loss to myself, projects clearly have a future, and according to the laws of the market, the price can not always go down, it will necessarily rise up.

HOLD is for the people who believed in the coins 100%, and I don't see any wrong with the word "HOLD".
Let's respect their choice whether if the coins they've choose is not potential or shit in our sight anyway.
Now if you hold the coins for a years now then all of a sudden you give up on waiting I think that is not correct,
due to you cannot stand with your holdings.
