I guess I have to agree that Pacquiao put the Philippines in the map again because of his boxing exploits up to this day. So it's just fitting that he will be given the honours by the Philippine government in this coming SEA games. I'm assuming he will lit the flames to officially start the games.

yeah it was mentioned in News by Cayetano that Manny Pacquiao will be the one who's Lighting the fire of the very controversial CAULDRON to symbolized the Start of the competition and i totally agreed on this because Senator Pacquiao is the most popular athlete of the Philippines if not the world.

Manny should be the one lighting the cauldron because he is well reknowned icon in sports. Though there is a controversy about this cauldron, it should not be an issue to be considered to ruin the country's reputation towards hosting the SEA Games.

The Philippines are known for their hospitality and giving the guest the best and most convenience services, but they fail big time here, if it is a local event we can understand this, but this is a regional event, sad to say the commitees that oversee this is not only unprepared, but they acted as newbies and they are giving cheap service to athletes, this will have a negative impact on the Philippines.

Indonesia (my country) can be said to have successfully held the Asian Games last year and the medal achievement also exceeded the target and to be honest it was very encouraging, but I can't predict wheter Indonesia in this SEA Games 30th can reach first place, hopefully if it can't be first ranked at least in the second place.

Real talk here, how can the Philippine athletes perform better if the government instead of cheering for them, the anti-admin is throwing mud to the admin because of corruption in building the stadium. Just check the local news in the Philippines and see whats the story about SEA games and you will find over priced stadium being investigated and over priced contract handed to a Malaysian firm. Very little mention about the athletes.

I am still hoping for Philippines to make it at least on the top 3 if they cant make it to number 1. Philippines will be represented with 1,868 athletes.

You know what, Brazil Olimpics are problematic and arguably get a rejection from the community for spending large funds on building stadium, there will always be pros and cons.

I often read that governments in a country often do not care about athletes they only care about when there will be a tournament and forget about these athletes when they are finished, fortunately my current government is very concerned with athletes. Bonuses for athletes are given directly when a championship is finished and difficult to be manipulated because the funds are directly transferred to a bank account in the athlete's name not only to athletes but also to other official trainers

issues like this should not be the main focus now because our athletes need more attention than this "Obviously Political movement towards next Election" it has been explained that mistakes can happen and the HOSPITALITY issue?lol even in other countries things like this happens but the main target is  this Cauldron that will remain as Symbol from this generation onward and this is not overspending the opposition will not stop looking for mistakes of the government but their own trouble cannot address truthfully ,being a host country we must create the state of the art Cauldron and this is just being exaggerating because they can't throw stone to the administration thats why even small details is a big issue for them.anyway whats new?this is Philippine Politics.

My vote would be bias of course. I would go for the Philippines since I'm from the Philippines. Not only because it's my country, but also because I can see the potentials of the Philippines representatives. Looking at the records and standing, the Philippines has the capability in competing with the other countries. Also, it's an advantage for the Philippines since they'll be hosting the said event, knowing the support of co-fellow Filipinos are stronger... But I know it won't be an easy fight for PH since other Asian countries are good as well.

Also one the advantage is having almost all participants with all the offered games, this one of those disadvantage when this tournament being held to other countries as the sports commissions don't have enough budget. Now that this will be held here I can say that Philippines can take the
second or first slot. Good luck to all the representative take the glory in front of the Filipino crowd.

The big event with big fun has arrived. Philippines is a good country and can definitely handle budgets well. Though some people hold the opinion, it lacks the support but the event would be more exciting than everyone’s expectation. As a spectator, our main focus is the number of games and opponents participating. Having sports from swimming to chess, it covers all the flavors. Gamblers would also be looking forward to every match certainly.

I know mate, but they are given ample time to prepare for this and knowing the timeline of the events, these kind of issue shouldn't be taken carelessly. Apologize can be accepted but this incident is probably be remember by the people that got affected.

I'm just bit disappointed with DFA response towards this.

East Timor Team arrived too early for their schedule which is why they have to wait that long and then due to traffic they arrive in their hotel too late as well. The media is making the a big fuzz when this is just too little to post in the news paper that it won't hurt the Philippines, if teams had problems, its suppose to be reported to the organizers. When Philippines goes to Olympics and sea games, Filipino teams bring with them a cook for we don't get use to eat burgers all the time, we are rice eaters.

These issues are being politicize since SEA games is Duterte's achievement again. They don't like Duterte to achieve anything including this build build build program but its very visible to all.

but they need to keep distance on it, Philippine players have prepare for this , also the crowd will help even the climate is on our side

That's going too far. Those are athletes who are trained to focus on the game and not on minor hiccups like what happened on their arrival. It's hard to imagine any team blaming what happened when they arrived to be the cause of their loss.

and eventually, affect the athletes even if they are trained to focus on the game. you should also realize that a lot of the athletes participating in 2019 sea games are still teenagers. also, the Thai football team had to
rent a stadium where they could train properly since the renovation of the stadium where they should be training is not done. again, these "minor hiccups" will build up and affect the athletes.

Those "minor" problems for others really have great impact to players.
We are not in the position to judge them because they are the one experiencing the unexpected turn of events.
But PH should have prepared a way earlier than their schedule to avoid these hiccups.

yes I read some bad news about their preparation as a host, many participants were displaced, even in terms of food too. this really damages the mentality of the participants.

with the highest number athletes of Philippines , also they hosts, so they are likely to get more medals. but Thailand is quite good in the last 5 years of dominance.

I think a lot of athletes either from PH itself or other countries are disappointed and affected by the situation on SEA games, issues with facilities, food the venue and etc. In regards to PH hosting and getting most of the medals, even if I am from PH, they might get some gold medals from certain sports such as boxing, track and field, basketball and etc, but ststi there are other good competitors such as Thailand and Indonesia.

I usually bet on this. But as usually happens in this huge event. The one who host the event sometimes wins the medal. So i'll go with Philippines though uncertain but the spirit in their are strong enough to out play other participants. Like with Pacquiao's recent match, regardless of his age he still manage to defeat his younger opponent with just the spirit and love in the sport itself.

Everytime I watch the news there's a negative comments about how the host handle this event not just the venue, but also the accomodation and the food. I keep on watching to become updated for the latest happening on the game.

They only publicized are the fault, I almost believed that PH really mess this event but now there are really pictures that are in facebook now with hashtag #winasone , which we can see the real location venue, props, accommodation and etc. But we can't deny that is really have some flaws regarding the athletes service.
