Received 1 merit from Bitcoin Forum!

I just checked my last received merits and noticed something weird!
Bitcoin Forum sent me 1 merit for a NA reply!
When I click on the user link it redirects me to my profile page and the link of the merited post (NA) redirects me to bitcointalk home page.
Did any one experience something similar or have an explanation for it?
I suppose it's just a glitch, that's why am reporting it here.

"(Bitcoin Forum)" is theymos correcting stuff. I called it "deMerit" because I've only seen it take away Merit until now:

So I got one too, buy my merit total hasn't changed. I've confirmed this by looking at a cached version of my profile page on my phone from about seven hours ago, which shows the same merit total (3036 at time of writing), but was before theymos sent the additional merit.

Anyone else notice the same? Perhaps Loyce has scraped some relevant data to back up my suspicion?

Give it sometime, i also noticed but it changed recently from 946 to 947

Edit: It has just changed. Strange that the "forum" merit took over an hour to be added, whilst normal merits are instant.

I did notice this at first, but it seems to have corrected itself in the last few minutes. Seems its now updated for you too as you're now at 3037 without receiving any merit from anyone after "Bitcoin Forum".

Strange that the "forum" merit took over an hour to be added, whilst normal merits are instant.

Merit shows instantly on posts, but it can take a while to update in your profile and under your avatar.

I got two transactions totaling 11 merit also.  I believe it took a few minutes for my merit count to update.

The merit was from the captain contest that recently ended.

BTW the same amount got from theymos for the art competition, once 1 and once 10 merit, I wonder if is somehow related.

I am also  received 1 merit from Bitcoin Forum. After seeing that visit meta and I see already a topic about this issue.


It shows merit received from (Deleted/Off-limits/Ignored).

Edit: Just got the reason of receiving that merit.

You could say that someone merited my post right before it was deleted. But as a person addicted from BTT i have multiple tabs with bitcointalk opened in my browser. One of those was my bitcointalk profile with 1535 posts and 599 merits.



And here are current stats (before this post):



As you can see amount of posts did not change. No post was deleted 10 merits was recived out of nowhere.

You get 10 merits if your caption submission was in the top voted. 1 merit if you have voted at all, and 2 merits if its only in the 2nd table. I don't think you get multiples of 10 if you have multiple submissions within the top rated table.

Therefore, the highest amount you could have received is 11 merit from the caption voting contest thingy.

I thought it would be useful to put it at the top of a reply so that users don't keep asking the same question that is all . We do have like 3 different threads opened about this though.
