Due to Corona, the VAT rate in Germany was reduced from 19% to 16%.

Thank you for the updates all. I'll check and adjust the first post this week.
I'm also working on a de minimis list but my data is a couple years old, hopefully I can get more recent info sort term for a new thread on that.
Not that it matters for asics as much since there was no exemption, but most US tariff exemptions have ended in the US as of Jan 1st, likely you'll see increases in pricing for other equipment relevant to mining.

It is worth mentioning that, as of July 2021, all orders originating in countries outside the European Union are subject to the payment of VAT, regardless of the value of the order.

What is the VAT? And VAT tariff? Value Added Tax. The amount of VAT all depends on which non-US country you live in. The USA only has the Trump Tariff.

Is anyone aware of any current tariff information regarding China vs Hong Kong origin? I recall Hong Kong previously being declared autonomous from China, and the 25% tariff not being applicable to items originating from HK. I got shipping information from Bitmain today and tracking shows it originating in HK. Which offers a glimmer of hope to avoid tariff. But I also recall possibly seeing information that rules changed, HK being declared "not autonomous enough", and items from HK needed to be labeled as made in China.
Anyone have actual knowledge or recent experience, or am I just gonna wait and see?

Hong Kong has very few component production companies or assembly factories and where the major production of sub assemblies and final assembly occurs is what matters. In other words most of Bitmain miners are Made In China. Not sure if BM still runs any Malaysian factories that they used to get around the tariff regulations.
Yer just going to have to wait and see.

Units arrived today, after I was contacted by UPS yesterday. And the answer is..... YES. I did have to pay the 25% tariff.

Bitmain puts $150 as the value of the miners on the shipping invoice that goes to customs, so the 25% tariff ends up being around $37.

I highly doubt that as it creates a huge risk for them. Prove it. Them doing something like that is highly illegal and if caught doing it WILL result in them not being allowed to ship ANYTHING to the USA. Everyone here in the the Forum that live in the USA has had to pay the tariff.

Bitmain has never undervalued anything in invoice for products I have bought from them. I've bought models like S2, S7, S9, S15, A3, L3+, R4 ...

Doing that is a great way for not only the US but pretty much any other country's Customs folks put a block on all shipments entering their country. Remember, the EU also has a hefty import tax -- VAT -- that is also based on declared shipment value. Btmain nor any other manufacturer or distributor would risk that.
